Finally found all six of the Augmentation sites; a few are in different places this year:
Grotesque Augmentation: Department of Menace Eradication
Augmentation in the Very Latest of Fashions: Mrs. Plenty’s Carnival
An Augmentation Applied on the Sly: The Flit
Ornate Augmentation: Veilgarden
An Augmentation Rejecting Convention: The Shuttered Palace
A Contorting Augmentation: Wolfstack Docks
The Tailor is in Ladybones, as was the case last year.
It’s occurred to me that there may be other sites: the "Speculation about Whitsun" content suggests that one might find more Augmentations as the "Speculation" quality rises higher.
Aged Invigorated
Theological Aug - Labyrinth of Tigers - 2 Extraordinary Implications
Grotesque Aug - Dept. of Menace Eradication - 6 Correspondence Plaques Aged Enlightened
Sly Aug - Flit - 6 Compromising Documents
Mirror-shined Aug - Mahogany Hall - 2 Mourning Candles Scarlet and Percipient Invigorated
Ornate Aug - Veilgarden - 2 Journals of Infamy
Rejecting Conventions - Shuttered Palace - 2 Tales of Terror Scarlet and Percipient Enlightened
Very Latest of Fashions Aug - Mrs. Plenty’s Carnival - 2 Visions of Surface
Contorting Aug - Wolfstack Docks - 2 Extraordinary Implications Sartorial
Ladybones - 3 Ha’Pennies Experimental
Anywhere, needs augizmo (device with nonsense name costing 5 Ha’Pennies)
Exactly the same as the previous year and listed in the guide. If I didn’t know better I’d think you a troll.
Speculation does not open new augmentations, it can be used to print a special newspaper at level 10. edited by Aro Saren on 5/11/2021

I presume ‘Speculation’ should only be leveled till it is 10, then something gets unlocked?
Any higher level is pointless… unless you just want to squander your action points?
If you can afford to apply Augmentations (and have access to the locations), I would strongly encourage you to try doing that. I don’t exactly know what early-game itemization looks like these days, but the twice-augmented companions have pretty good stats and are likely to last you a while. Prioritize the Aged Egg companions if you must choose, since they are likely to cost ha’pennies next year.
You might get more mileage out of spending three pennies on a Sartorial augmentation than on the two base-level Scarlet Egg companions. Although banking two coins this year to afford a Device next year is also a strong option, if you have the patience.
At level 10, you can use Speculation to publish a special Newspaper. If you don’t have a Newspaper, then I’m not sure you have anything to spend it on.
My opinion is that none of the Scarlet creatures are worth spending a ha’penny on, with the exception of the ones that also require the illegal device.
If you’re not planning to save your pennies for next year and get a device, I would strongly recommend getting a sartorial augmentation. Most if not all of them will remain useful indefinitely. edited by PJ on 5/12/2021

It may be hypocritical of me to endorse this post when like a greedy little raccoon I snapped up all the Scarlet Egg creatures last Whitsun, but I do feel the same way. They’re cute but…I mean, when ACTUAL money gets involved I can’t really recommend the expenditure.
I suspect the reason why Aged Eggs remain so available is because one’s repeatable grind in Parabola isn’t very useful for gathering Memories of Discordance to pursue a certain questline in the Hurlers that doesn’t lead to the deepest secrets of the Discordance.
Okay, last year I pretty much flubbed Whitsun, collecting only about five of the non-gizmo critters, and I still hadn’t managed to unlock my lab, so I missed out on all of the experiment stuff. This year I’ve got my lab up and running and was all set to do ALL OF THE THINGS.
I’ve got one critter already and another waiting to hatch, and now I’m just flailing at trying to figure out what to do with my actions while an egg is incubating. At first I was going to science eggs all the time, but it seems like experimenting on the device is just as good or better, and possibly doesn’t need to be done during the festival? So maybe I should be cracking open Aged Eggs for bones? What’s everyone else doing while they wait for eggs to hatch?
I just do unrelated things.
Aged eggs let you grind Red Science cheap.
Device also gives Red Science and stays with you forever.
Cracking - not very efficient in my eyes, especially since you cannot treat eggs while one is already hatching.
You can grind Speculation to 10 and publish a special newspaper edition, although that’s not very profitable or lore heavy, rare success aside.
YOu can also sell the eggs at DeGustibus and Bone Market for some resources.

I found out you could make a book on Arachnid anatomy if you had completed the ones on Avian, Batrian and Marine. Not sure what it does, or if I’ll even use it, considering my poor affinity for the sharpening arts, but that’s how I burned most of my actions yesterday.
Today I’m mostly just cracking open eggs for a Monstrous Orb. I got one last year and now I WANT ANOTHER. edited by RoyalRaven on 5/12/2021
Speaking of, to anyone with access to Sinning Jenny’s finishing school is there anything to do with the new egg there? Been fiddling around with mine a few times and still haven’t gotten anything from the usual rounds of training students. edited by Hattington on 5/12/2021
I haven’t managed to make much of a dent in the Railroad content, and it seems like that’s where all the bones are. Smashing open untreated Aged Eggs seemed like a fairly low-cost way to get some limbs and whatnot…is it not actually practical? Two actions and 100 Jade seems cheaper than all my current options other than the Waswood, which isn’t very reliable since there are so many other possible results. edited by hwango on 5/12/2021

Percipient untreated egg gives jet black stinger on Monstrosity check.
How does one unlock the Laboratory? Is POSI required?
Edit: Seems like POSI is necessary. I think I’ll save the ha’pennies for next year’s Whitesun, then get the Device and do the fun stuff. Meanwhile I’ll just try and get the free companion pets.
I believe the Auroch Fur Coat is the item to aim for if getting a Sartorial Augmentation? edited by fishandchips on 5/12/2021
If you bought Helicon pendant before the start of whitsun, this year you get 4 instead of 3. But since the whitsun has started it’s too late, and it’s Fate anyway.
According to the guide, the Fur Coat is the only item not being the best for its slot for its lategame Art (there are other Glasswork clothes that don’t rely on seasonal content or hard-to-get resources as the Ha’Pennies) and no specific effect. The Shadowy bonus also gets tied by a rather cheap Bazaar suit; it IS highly Respectable, but its effective BDR bonus (main reason for pursuing Respectable) is the same as many other clothings. In other words, it doesn’t look that outstanding to me. The -1 Nightmares could be useful in certain situations, admittedly, but still looking unimpressive (you get the same from a goldfish and a certain cane, and I don’t know how many situations you might encounter when you need a whopping -3 Nightmares on the spot)
If I had to pick one and only one, I’d point toward the sartorials that hatch from Percipient eggs. High base stats per slot (the boots get surpassed by a Renown 25 item, but you may not have it yet) high/top BDR, unique Art bonus for their slot, additional late-game option. The Ushanka is also Neathproofed, which admittedly I’ve still yet to use but I gather is relevant in late game content, like some Railway station. On the other hand, who doesn’t want to be watched by their own boots? (love that description)
EDIT: @anyone: feel free to correct me if I’m factually wrong somewhere. edited by Huey on 5/12/2021
Ah, of course. I’ve defaulted to optimization to define the “item to aim for” as any other factor is highly subjective. I maintain that the Vigilant Boots have a great description :D
