I don’t like the fact that it’s happening now when I’m in the middle of impossible theorem research :/
I don’t like the fact that it’s happening now when I’m in the middle of impossible theorem research :/
Same here, I mean I knew it was coming soon but I never thought they’d spring it on us with ZERO warning. It’s not like I can just dump all the research I’ve already put in, so now it’s a mad dash to finish it in time to run some egg projects. Pretty limiting for other actions during the event.
Wow, I thought I was the only one with bad timing.
I’m strongly considering dumping a quantity of Enigmas into the lab to finish this off faster.
Wow, I thought I was the only one with bad timing.
It’s almost like the main problem was with the devs’ choices rather than ours. It’s not like I would have started this project if they’d given us the date a week ago.
This festival is mostly consist of waiting for eggs to hatch. At least for endgame players. You don’t need to rush the Theorem, finish it in 3-4 days and you still have 10-11 days of Whitsun left.
Semi-fatelocked red eggs are unpleasant surprise. Glad I got everything from them last year.

You can research the aged eggs in your lab to grind Red Science very cheap. Scarlet gives Shapeling Arts, but it’s now ha’penny only. Hairy gives neither and only advances speculation, though.
I was making a hoard, and I think I’ll make it in time.

It’s about the same amount of warning we usually get, isn’t it?
I mean it was only one day off from last year.
Swine! Villans! Extortionists!
Fine, here’s $25.
If anyone else gave in and shelled out for 12 ha’pennies, did you echo the result? I accidentally blew through it and probably won’t spend another $25 just to read what I missed.
I hope it had something to do with a chisel and six amber pennies.
Apparently you can feed attar to a quizzical squirrel in Arbor. No idea about the result, for I do not yet have the squirrel.
Is there a chance they’ll lock a different egg behind Ha’Pennies every year?
Maybe?
Softlocking the Aged Egg for a New egg that gives Persuasive/Dangerous Creatures might be something they do for Whitsun 1900.

It’s plausible they’ll lock both Scarlet and Aged next year and inroduce another one.
Because of problems today, the game was slow for a couple of hours. As Whitsun involves some timed events, we have extended the period of the festival to ensure that no one misses out as a result of the slowness.
The festival will end on 24th May, at noon BST. You will be able to hatch already incubating eggs until morning (BST) of the 27th May.
It’s about the same amount of warning we usually get, isn’t it?
Is it? I feel like there’s been a clear standard set for announcing dates for seasonal events in advance, that’s why I felt so blindsided by this sudden launch.

Clearly the sensible thing to do here is push for all aged egg creatures first and foremost, followed by percipient eggs just to be on the safe side – while they’re still free. Scarlet eggs are already gated so there’s nothing really left to lose there.
One of my biggest issues with Whitsun last year was that it was a minefield of uninformed choices for those who don’t want to (or can’t) spend Fate to get everything, and it doesn’t look like that’s been addressed this year. I went in thinking I would be fine with just the four maximally-upgraded amber-less options. Instead, I unknowingly locked myself out of two bone duplication options because the b—dy butcher won’t take adult Terror Birds or carnivorous Aurochs for whatever reason. If I’d known that I would’ve traded my useless iguana for one of them in a heartbeat.
Scarlet Eggs being soft-locked also doesn’t sit well with me, because I feel like I was screwed out of getting my two most-desired Sartorial items by choosing the fur-coat over the hat the first time, when I could have gotten both if I had chosen the hat first. I’d be fine with it if Sartorial items were locked to one free sample per account regardless of type (like with other seasonal items), but this way it just feels like I lost a gamble I didn’t even know I was making at the time.
Honestly, I would have been happy if we got no new content this year, in exchange for another fair shot at last year’s content, knowing what we know now. I know it sounds petty to complain so much about free content, but I just wanted to express why Whitsun is currently my least favorite of the seasonal events in hopes that Failbetter can improve on it.
What babelfish doesn’t mention is that on the 27th, they’ll get rid of any unhatched eggs we have.
Just to be sure, I mentioned this in the guide on the neighboring thread.
And OF COURSE I miss JUST things from the “Scarlet” egg line.
Bad choices, EVERYTIME. Jeez. Why I it need always to end up in frustration? I am starting to be very scared by new content and changes, is it a symptoms of me getting older, isn’t it?
Finally found all six of the Augmentation sites; a few are in different places this year:
Grotesque Augmentation: Department of Menace Eradication
Augmentation in the Very Latest of Fashions: Mrs. Plenty’s Carnival
An Augmentation Applied on the Sly: The Flit
Ornate Augmentation: Veilgarden
An Augmentation Rejecting Convention: The Shuttered Palace
A Contorting Augmentation: Wolfstack Docks
The Tailor is in Ladybones, as was the case last year.
It’s occurred to me that there may be other sites: the "Speculation about Whitsun" content suggests that one might find more Augmentations as the "Speculation" quality rises higher.
