Welcome! You’re here for information and I’m not going to steal your time. Just a few opening remarks, especially if you’re a NEW PLAYER:
It should be understood that you can never have more than 7 of any faction’s Favours. That’s right: NEVER. If you play a storylet granting 3 Favours: Urchins when you already have 6, that’s your loss. Please do remember this as I’m not going to include "but only up to 7" for every single Favour-granting item on this list.
It should also be understood that Renown can never be lost. Well, almost… there’s an option during Seeking Mr Eaten’s Name that eats ALL your Renown, and there have been a few recently in Exceptional Stories and Ambitions that ate a tiny bit of one Faction’s Renown. Those are extreme exceptions though! If I list something as "unlocked with Renown 10" here, then playing that storylet will not reduce your Renown.
You should probably collect your first few Favours and get started on the road to Renown at Mrs Plenty’s Carnival. Don’t hesitate to use the options under The Big Top and The Sideshows even when your stats are still quite low! They lock with Renown 5 and you’ll never be able to use them again later. (the exception here is Society which you can’t actually use until you’re The Darling of the Ambassador’s Ball)
Bohemians
Church
Constables
Criminals
Docks
Great Game
Hell
Revolutionaries
Rubbery Men
Society
Tomb-Colonies
Urchins
As a general rule, this Guide is for grinding Favours and Renown, so I’m mainly going to list actions that are repeatable. I will make exceptions for one-time opportunities that pay out more than one Favour (e.g. ending the Jack case, Selling the Nadir’s location etc.), or when they’re part of a notable storyline (e.g. the Cheesemonger, Last Constable etc.)
This also pertains to Exceptional Stories and Fate-locked content. I’m not going to list every ES that grants a Favour at some point or other just because you could theoretically reset it via Fate over and over again. However, repeatable storylets unlocked via playing an ES or Fate story (e.g. the Shepherd of Souls card) will be included.
Kaosu has compiled a helpful overview of the item costs and Quirk changes for the 15+ Renown conversions which you can find here.
Last but not least I would like to say a big Thank You to all Fallen London Wiki contributors - this guide would not exist without your work! :)
