Speaking of the Nomen, I hear keeping one alive to the Feast Of The Rose can get you a special tatto or something. I don’t really pay attention to be honest. But I wish to know more of this. I don’t want to use Lacre on a Noman and try it only to find out I don’t have NEARY enough resources, which I don’t think I do.
I believe that with average odds, your noman will survive two visits from TTH. That is more than enough time to draw the cards you need to see the story through - last year I managed it on three characters within a week, without being particularly obsessive about card draws. If you use your lower level quirks (or the ambition options) you should be able to enjoy the noman story with minimal impact on your character.
I can only tell you what I’ve read about, and that is: It’s very, very hard to do, and needs a lot of preparation beforehand.
I think I’ll give it a shot then. It’s either the Noman or getting the box for the extra stories on Sunless Sea.
I’m going for the noman tattoo this year, and it’s an involved process requiring about 2-3 months of preparatory grinding. It’s a fun challenge & worth doing if like me you love the noman, but you probably don’t have the resources. You’d be better off buying an early noman and enjoying the story, then going for the tattoo next year if you still want it.
Hm. Actually I’ve calculated that I can risk my Tears of the Bazaar and get both the Noman and the large, mysterious box, even if I lose the Tears in the process. I think I’m going to do just that.
You can also use Hedonist (and some easily replacable goods), which raises Hedonist rather than lowering it. Although it does lower Austere.

It has been a good Sackmas. I got two upgrades to two five-card lodgings and the Noman and now I’m going to get the box and also fulfill my promise to the Duchess. Lots and lots of lacre…

I’m liking the Nomen story a lot! I hadn’t heard about the fact you can use your ambition to increase its knowledge too (it’s hilarious for Heart’s Desire)
Hm. Is it? I should try it when I wake up tomorrow then. There’s no way 5 actions are going to pile up before that.

How would one get the most out of a Noman? Is grinding it up to level 15 of Noman Knows the best way to go about it?
if it reaches level 15 of noman knows you can get an elemental secret (315 echoes) and if you made him survive until lilac (feast of exceptional roses) shows up you’ll get a tattoo of the noman

Finally I’m finished with Sacks! Thank god, but I do kinda miss him. If those damn opportunity cards weren’t so elusive I probably would have really enjoyed it. Now I guess I have nothing to do but chill until De Gustibus.

I’m still on day 6 - where are the sacks ?
TtH came arrived last night for me, yet there was no snowfall. Should I expect there to be no more snowfalls or will they simply be more erratic? Also how long will the Wicket be open?
There will probably be no further snowfalls. The wicket will be open to at least mid-january, but more likely till just bearely before feburary. christmas lingers like few other holidays
I still can’t find the last two Sacks cards. Grrrr. So frustrating. Oh well, guess this gives me time to waste some more actions on the Fisher Kings. That’s always interesting.
Edit: Hah! Got them! Not enough ToL to do anything in the Wicket, but I got the cards.

I’m trying to look into when the last day roughly was. I have seen testimony it arrived on Wednesday 1/6/16. When I read your post, based on my Timezone, last night would imply you didn’t get Snowbound on Friday 1/8/16. I figure since Snowbound came back around 12/30/15-12/31/15 after temporary retirement, it would end around 1/6/16-1/7/16. Is your clear path quality gone too? I would think it would go away since it is tied to Time the Healer from my observation. Anyway, as Grenem said, there won’t be any Snowfalls now as far as I can tell. At the very least, people had 3 opportunities for Snowbound, most had 4 based on their Time the Healer. Four would be the standard for scheduling this event (Snowbound) based on what I read from others for past Christmas events.
The Wicket seems like it would close before January ends, all that is stated in-game is mid-January as Grenem said. The Christmas Neath Guide reports Jan 31 (but Jan 30 for 2016, that date was for 2015), but it’s up to you if you want to stick with that or do things sooner. It seems to be generalized as the end of January, whether that means the very end of January or sometime before. I plan to keep track of it for this season if I can. I hope this helps.

Could I get clarification on the Ambition based noman options. I’ve tried mine 4 times today and each time I’ve only gained 1CP of noman knows. Is this the new standard (since it seems a poor reward for 5 actions and a stat test) or am I just fantastically unlucky?
