The Twelve Days of Mr Sacks have Begun!

I think the Wicket wasn’t actually supposed to be open? I saw it open earlier today, even though it said it would open on Jan. 6, but I was out of actions at the time so I didn’t enter; now it seems unavailable again.

I’m not seeing the Wicket universal storylet even though I’ve got 12 days, so it must have been open by mistake.

Both of you are right; they just closed it, it seems. About half an hour ago (or something like that), I managed to go in and get the Zee Znail’s Zhell lodgings on the baron, but now I can’t enter with any of my characters.

My taste of lacre is at six but the wiki says I can’t increase it past that with the monocle. I just need one more level! Just one more! And I have no dreadful surmise to use in the boar. Is it a possible feat?

I haven’t seen any more Sacks cards. They should be available a few more hours at least, right?

They should be available for the duration of Penstock’s Wicket’s availability at the very least.

Ah, wonderful - thank you!

I just got my twelfth Mr. Sacks visit (I actually feel terrible… I took the more profitable option because I’m lacre-hungry, but I feel so callous!) and I was so concerned to see that Penstock’s Wicket wasn’t available. Will it be open for all (or at least everyone who’s experienced all twelve days of Mr. Sacks) tomorrow?

When you get to the wicket, choose an option that costs 1ToL, then use a bucket. It should boost you to 8.

So… where is Penstock’s Wicket? Did that Penstock sleep in again?

This is pretty exciting. First timer waiting for the wicket =)
I’m sort of checking in every hour or so.

I thought it opened on the 6th, but there’s only a few hours of it left…

There are many hours of the 6th left in (Surface) London

I’m banging on the door but there’s no reply. And there’s quite a large queue forming behind me. Some are carrying pitchforks and torches. I wonder if they’re here for Penstock or for me…

I can see from my plans that they’ve changed the Noman back to normal, so I think we should see the Wicket opening any minute now!

Well I don’t know about you but I was just let in. Either they think me more important then I do or it’s out for all.

Finally, the wretched fool woke up and opened the way to my well-deserved treasures!

Question to old-timers: Is the Noman worth the loss in quirks? I rather like my quirks.

The Noman story is lovely, and has some of my favourite writing in the game. It’s also a story very much about matters at the heart of the game, so you’ll probably enjoy it. If you play to the end, you’ll get a rare and valuable item. Unless your quirks are irreplaceably high, it’s worth seeing at least once.

Thanks for the answer. Some of my quirks are over 10, which is difficult to get at. I do love the writing of this game and that’s the whole reason I keep playing it, and you’re telling me this is one of the nicest stories, so… now I really want to play through it. But do I need to keep the Noman alive to play it to the end? I mean, I’ve been grinding a lot lately, for lots of other things, and I’m kind of tired. So if the Noman needs grinding for its upkeep, I’m not sure I will be able to keep up with it.

Playing the Noman story is well worth it in my opinion and requires only minor grinding of low-level quirks (if they haven’t changed the mechanics when quirks changed). Just don’t use any quirks you don’t want to lose. It’s easy to replace many up to level 5 for example.
