There’s another option regarding the Masters if you have a fancy robe: Reddit - Dive into anything.
At this point I’m not fighting Starved men, like I want, but I’m fighting the goddamn server to stay logged in.
Do hope the servers hold on. Can’t even log in to start things right now.
Ruin seems to be oscillating pretty wildly up and down, but not, as yet, trending downwards in any meaningful way. Is this because new people are constantly starting the event, undoing the progress the rest of us are making every time they do the drop?
I’ve considered it but I’m waiting for some more server stability to check. I don’t want to accidentally miss something while stranded under the city or something.
“The Starved Man has a reach longer than 1899”
And we all know whose fault that is.
I hope they don’t have it reset Ruin to full when someone starts the event! That would make it basically impossible to decrease.
But whatever it is, bug or a feature we don’t understand yet, seems like it makes sense to focus on getting help. Presumably when we get help that’ll unlock more ways of reducing ruin.
When I started, about about three minutes after the event opened (because I can take a stern talking-to but I can’t take the suspense) Ruin was only at about 54%, so it doesn’t reset it to full, but it is definitely increased.
Ruin was quite low when the event started, and increased over time.
I think Koschei is right that players entering the event are boosting it. But I’m also guessing that the value is capped at 1 million, and excess change points are discarded. So it just jitters around that cap, but we won’t see any meaningful decreases for a little whlie.
I’ll say that refusing to help instead of taking the 3-Actions choice on that one card raises Ruin. I totally didn’t click on it twice by not paying attention… >>
Hell’s not coming (unsurprisingly), so we’re down to 2. Can’t see any changes in Jenny or the Admiralty’s responses though.
Yeah, I expect what will eventually enable us to start working the ruin level downwards is when almost all active players have properly started the event and there’s mostly just people putting actions into reduction, with less and less piling on the initial increases.
I belive it passively grows over time, when it higher than threshold cards start to appear and people decrease it lower than threshold.
Report from the Hinterlands:
The action to go upriver now carries a penalty of 1 cp Scandal or I don’t know how many cp of Wounds by the text (visible from Moloch Street for those who’ve started their railway). I went station to station all the way to Marigold and none of the main hubs had any new storylets. Checked for new options on all the old storylets that were immediately accessible from the main hub of the station starting with Station VIII and at every subsequent railway stop. Regarding the opportunity deck: I already had 4 opportunity cards in hand and I also drew 5 different opp cards while upriver (9 different opp cards seen in total). No new cards and of the 9 cards that I did get to see no new actions on them. Conclusion: Upriver doesn’t seem involved, at least yet.
Report from Parabola: in short, nothing new here either. I visited and checked all easily accessible storylets in Base Camp, Reflection of Lab, Viric Jungle, Waswood, Moonlit Chessboard (middle of game), Dome of Scales (Red-handed queen controlled), Furnace Ancona’s dreams, Pavilion (between campaigns: no new causes of war available), and [redacted] Castle.
Edit: a previous version of this post claimed going upriver could cost Suspicion (wrong), when in fact it costs Scandal (you look like a coward in front of people).
Everyone, I have a confession to make. It’s not new players joining that’s increasing London’s Ruin, it’s me failing Intervene on the Unfolding Violence card every d__n time I play it. I swear, I’ve got a 75% chance of success and I must have played it ten times by now and I haven’t succeeded once.
EDIT: Eleven times
I had the same thought about our Rubbery friends, and now that I can log in again I am in Flute Street. There doesn’t seem to be anything new here, though I’m doing a round of the carousel just to be sure.
This is probably to be expected, since it wouldn’t make sense to lock part of the event behind a Fate story, but it felt like it was worth a shot to see if there was a way to ask the other group known for their Shapeling skills for aid.
I checked the clay quarters. The clay man don’t want to help either.
Yes, I had both of those thoughts, but I supposed it’d be good to check just in case, you never know where these devs will end up hiding something. Thanks for confirming!
As for me, I have yet to draw that card even a single time. There’s nothing I’d rather be doing than hunting these beastly starved men through the streets like a merciless avenger, but instead the game keeps offering me only damage control and search and rescue tasks.
Edit: finally drew the card. I feel a bit put out over being restricted to fisticuffs despite possessing a vast and diverse arsenal of deadly weapons and, you know, a vessel comparable to a small warship. I want to properly commit to the violence here.
By the way, the text at the Brass Embassy has now also changed. It would seem that the devils, also, are not coming.
I will admit all these Shapeing tricks are making me feel fairly insecure about my Shapeling art skills. I was fairly happy with all my rubbery friends. Now I learn I could have been turning water in bones. I need to step up my game.
I’m now getting “Service to London” from asking Jenny for help (and doing search party stuff). I wasn’t before. Same for the Admiralty.
450 service for 1 action, which I assume is 4.5 EPA.
[edit] changed to 550 service.
