The London Horticultural Show is here!

Oh man, yeah, I hadn’t bothered to scroll down to see the companion options. Thanks!

that’s true, but instead of a long, drawn-out conflict like a war really is, the event is feeling more like London is repelling the Starved Men incredibly quickly. Sure, the damage was great (just like the writing) but in only a day the Admirality and Jenny mobilized and are already getting more efficient and better ways to fight. London’s ruin is almost half down already! That’s a good thing of course, but it is all rather a blur.

In the first place this feels less like a war in a traditional sense than a sort of pell-mell general calamity. Things are happening unexpectedly and very quickly, and there’s a broad understanding that if the response isn’t immediate it seems that London is going to be reduced into a giant pile of meat goo or something. So there isn’t a great deal of time for lengthy deliberations and strategizing.

Ugh, another one of those festivals where speedrunners can cut the event short for everyone else. Apparently there was some thing with factions other than the Admiralty maybe doing the fighting? I never saw even a hint of that. I wish they would put a hard minimum of at least a few days on how long a part of the story is available to people who haven’t gotten that far yet.

And we have to consider that a lot of people on the forums and Reddit are probably in the 1% of most time in London. I know I am at least. Imagine if you didn’t pick up the event until about now because you were excessively busy or just forgot and now you missed three 1/2 phases of the war. The living updating event is a really cool structure, but at this pace it simply isn’t the right solution for the most people.

Yeah, I’m kind of over the whole event-type that requires you to be the first people on the scene or you basically miss things. Especially when the servers literally prevented a lot of people from even logging in yesterday.

The things limited to one day or less are definitely not what I want to see in these events and honesty put me off from them.

Slightly amusing dialogue interaction at zee:

“Got a cousin on the Nameless Stalactite-Skiff – awful cad,” says a dappled rat sporting a tiny silk eyepatch."
Apparently there are rattus faber starved men? Starved LBs? Or else just regular ones casually serving on the stalactite-skiff?

I think you’ve been in the Neath too long. Rats aboard ships are usually not part of the crew

Eh, One event per year that plays a bit more to the hardcore is fine. Most events are (relatively) predictable and enjoyable on every level, and even this has options for the hardcore newbie. I would absolutely not want to see this become the norm. But as is, with items that are not too hard to get if you are putting some effort in at any level and unexpected dynamics is pretty fun. Again, should not be the norm, but different types of event for different types of players.

Holy. What a thing to log back into. TO ARMS! My parlour will require a SHAPELING TAXIDERMIST!

Is there a full or nearly full list of locations for the clues we are seeking? If so, can anyone point me to it? Thanks.

Yeah, it feels like the event is going just a tad too fast. Everything else the same but double the time would be great.

I can just imagine a bunch of people on Discord using alts for extra actions and being like “we’re fixing London so fast, we’re doing a great job! Yay us!”

No, quit it. Let other people enjoy the event too you greedy b______s.

FBG has a very lax policy on multiple accounts, but since it affects other players I think having alts reduce London’s Ruin might actually count as cheating

Eh, that’s too strong a word. It’s annoying, though, to think of people actively working to shorten the event before everyone can get to it

I’m still annoyed that the plant-growing phase of this event is done and over with. It was there for 24 hours and that’s it. If there’s something available for a high level of Horticultural Prestige, I’ll be pissed.

Having things that people can completely, 100% miss because of such a short time limit is bad design.

I like it that while most people felt utterly relieved when the jazz began, there are some hardcore horticulturalists in the Neath who has found time to morn the actual declared competition)

Indeed, I merely racked up 65k Horticultural Prestige before the ‘opening ceremony’ began. :upside_down_face:

Due to me being Ambition-less and non-Fate, my clue hunting options picked themselves.

Done (7): Mrs Chapman’s, Circus, Expedition, Underclay, Rubbery card, University research, Nadir

Yet to do (3): Godfall pilgrimage, Helicon house, Evenlode diving

Currently on my way to Godfall.

Hopefully the not yet done ones aren’t such horrible action sinks that the event is over before I complete them all.

And one year ago I would be very annoyed because I hadn’t built my Railway, so no access to Evenlode or Helicon House.

Just people chatting about how best to shorten the event so as few people as possible get to see it, and using alts to burn through the shared resources even faster. That’s a perfectly normal and okay thing to do.
