Yeah, the trading part doesn’t start until then. I’ve hardly stayed on Mutton Island even from the beginning of this event, only looping back to grind for a bit when my actions are full until I only have a few left, which I use to set out elsewhere or do things in London
By “dive to the bottom” - do you mean the total number of dives, or the total number of dives where you reach the lowest depth?
I’d assume “dive to the bottom of the trench” where Her Fivefold Symmetry lives.
Hopefully encountering Her Fivefold Symmetry will be more rewarding than encountering Mrs. Chapman.
I won’t be disappointed if it’s not. There are plenty of ways to grind echoes year-round, so I’ll consider the four extra paragraphs of text sufficient reward for diving to the bottom repeatedly.
I haven’t got pressing business other than scrip grinding, so even though I’ve topped 6k Thalassic favour and got the 9 bits of coral and had five audiences, I’m going to stick it out on Mutton Island.
I think I’ll also make a few more runs on the canals for coral skulls. I have abundant sworn statements (from being a correspondent) and unprovenanced artefacts are also useful.
I’ve got a new bit of text under ‘consider your zee treasures’: Your potential amount of Thalassic Favour should be enough to get everything, including a new ship.
Yet still, maybe I’m wrong and just wasting resources and actions at this point, but I’m betting there will be something available worth trading for my favour stockpile next week. What is everyone else doing - more wreck dives, or stopping when you hit the favour target?
I have yet to reach my 5k thalassic favour target but I do plan to start diving for the most valuable things when I’m done with that, purely for the enjoyment of the event’s revamped mechanic. I have had my 5 audiences, collected my 3X3 corals, and already had the unique items from previous years. Being an endgame player who had the access and resources on hand to spam coral skulls in Jericho feels gamey to me, even if I am thankful for the option being kept after it was signalled. I wish I could experience this festival with the wonder and awe of a younger character, new to Fallen London’s strange world. That would be such a ride.
I just had a cool though as to what the secret fourth ship could be. Maybe something along the lines of:
Presbyterate Sloop
+Zailing Speed 55
+Dreaded 3
+Delighted 1
That way you have both a small BDR bonus over the current maximum, and you no longer have to constantly switch to the Shattered Mask! Probably won’t happen, because not being able to opt out of the Delighted cards would be annoying, but I think it’s a cool idea.
Maybe it’s for exclusive ship, The Cladery Heart. Few hundreds of backers (of SSea) own it.
No, I think we have confirmation that the Cladery Heart won’t be available. It would be cool though.
I don’t say that we could get it. But those who have it would get an upgrade.
However much I would like the Cladery Heart back, I’m assuming the fourth ship will be some sort of pirate galleon with bonuses for Piracy.
I am almost at 6k thalassic favours now, but on hindsight maybe I should have headed back to London to do other stuff or get coral skulls etc.
Surprised that the diving mechanics at Mutton Island doesn’t follow that in Evenlode.
Then I remember in a previous event, it was established that the water of Mutton Island is ‘different’…
Frankly, I doubt it. It is really unlike Failbetter to advertise a new secret fourth ship then just to pull the rug out with “Surprise! It’s only available to %0.5 of players! Sorry!”
Agree. But it also does not make sense to keep it not upgraded. They updated Parabolan Panther, which is even more rare. They upgraded Boneless Consort, when all Spouses went into new level with advanced stats.
That may be true, but those were changed a long time ago. Also, FBG would likely mention if one of the ship upgrades wasn’t accessible to all players in possession of a ship, and regarding how powerful the Heart is, it already combines the speed of the Clipper with the BDR of the Zub, and has some exceptionally good options on otherwise bad cards. Also, in the original announcement, it says:
As always, those who have the Cladery Heart will need to stash it in London, but may trade in their other ship
Which to me reads like the Heart is staying the same.
Remember you have less than 14 hours before the next phase begins. Make sure you got everything you wished for!
Terrible news everyone. No Mr Eaten kaiju battle ):
EDIT: but there is a lovely little option for Seekers when chatting with His Complexity that addresses the confusing names
Glad to get a new transport item from this event. A rather nice one too.
I have, as I suspected I might, much more Favour than I know what to do with. Seems Wrecking Boots are the only item in the market stalls that I don’t already own (and I know at least one of my alts has them).
Makes me wish you could own as many ships as you want, and keep the spare ones moored at Wolfstack. Would be nice to be able to spend that excess Favour on a second one. Oh well…
Hmm… Which to get? Which to get?
