The Fruits of the Zee Festival 2023

Has any one checked if the Numismatrix has anything to say about mother-of-pearl coins? Or does it require you to autospend it immediately?

Having complained for years about how the festival worked (randomness and menaces coming out of our ears) I did actually smile to myself that now the festival proper has begun you can still rack up some menaces if you want to, for old time’s sake, as it were.

All the Coral exchange with the Fathomking and the exchange with “merchants” for different version of the items seems just a not so elegant action-sink… was it just an excuse to smuggle in some more text?
Not a great deal BUT…

What’s a mother-of-pearl coin? I haven’t seen anything like that.

The second half of the festival is kinda anticlimactic. Spend your favours and party’s over!

I may be misassuming. The fate locked option for getting new boats is unlocked because I have no ‘mother-of-pearl coins’.

So I’m assuming it gives one of those to let people who don’t have the favour buy a ship. I’m loathe to spend 20 fate when I have more than enough diving favour. But, I wondered if anyone had checked, since the Numismatrix has had entries for fate locked currency before (of course it’s possible that that’s just a place holder and there’s not actually a way to get the coin).

The nice thing is that the Festival goes on for another week! So you could test drive all of the choices, so to speak, before making a really final decision. Pick one, take it out for a spin, come back, take another. I may not do that since I really like my new ship (prevents Troubled Waters build-up, great for pirates!), but there doesn’t seem to be any reason one couldn’t do that so long as your Thalassic Favour holds out. And After various trades I have almost as much of it as I did when I started! (3560 as compared to about 4500)!

At first I thought you got one of each item when you exchanged the corals but I guess I just got lucky the first time around, since I got a duplicate just now from the Fathomking. So much for the alternate text I suppose.

Keep looking. You can trade the duplicate for one you don’t have.

Does anyone have a grasp on the new ship stats?

Somebody has updated the wiki and they are up on there. Thanks, Somebody!

Oh I do know that, I’m just sad I’m missing out on the Fathomking’s text for when you get some of them.

Edit: it’s the same text for each set of variation, so never mind my grumbling.

Will the Itinerant Zubmariners trades change on different days? I got two Arias and a Tricorne from the Fathomking but there’s no option to trade one Aria for a Cowl to complete the set.

Oh my, a new Zeefaring Transportation? Me likee!

Getting a Peaceable Cowl is a trade from the Enigmatic Angler. Those 3 traders are incredibly confusing!

I really want a zub to explore underwater but my impatient ass is really attached to my swift Zee clipper, time to get paralyzed with indecision until the last hours of the festival :D

Genuinely curious to know which new ship everyone is getting… or, maybe, not getting them at all?

And if you get them, you can no longer use your trusty old clipper or zubmarine? And if you get rid of your new ship, you can’t get it until the next FotZ event?

I have four characters, one for each ambition, and coincidentally one for each ship. The new ships generally seem to be upgrades of sorts of the existing ones (except for the cruiser, which doesn’t quite feel like an upgraded tramp steamer, but rather is its own thing), so for me the choice was easy. Three upgraded their ship to the new better version and the other had the cruiser.

So basically this is what’s left of the FotZ event.

Get these items:

Riddlefisher’s Footsteps
Bright-Buckled Boots
Scrimshaw Sabatons

Loomweavers
Mournclimber’s Wraps
Gossamer Palms

Peaceable Cowl
Crab-Clawed Tricorne
Aria of Tranquility

Weeping Litter-Cyst (Transportation)

Inquisitive Lamp-cat (200 Thalassic Favours)

[New ship]

[New destiny]

During the diving phase, I remember the flavour text changed and indicated that you can afford everything this week with around 4000 favours. If the ship costs 2000 favours, and the lamp cat costs 200 favours… what are the other 1800 favours spent on?

I am also curious what you will get by trading 95 Thalassic favours at the fruit market stands.

I must reiterate my feeling: the logic of the trader for the 3 items variation and to sink excess Thalassic Favours, 95 per click, is really a click-nightmare and a pain in the heart.
The text variation is not worth it, mostly one-liners. Really BOOORING.

The fact that when you trade an item it bring you back at the main storylet in Mutton Island means another two click every-time. Just salt on the wound.

At least they don’t cost actions BUT they’re painfully boring.

As a plust, Zee Festival 2014 items could not be traded for Thalassic Favours. I personally don’t mind, but that’s the reason why a relatively “new” player could not spend all that favours.
