Sensible! I’ve died and gone mad, but I’m happy to hang on to my soul, come… well, yes, and high water too.
And after all these years I’ve finally lost my soul…by accident. (I didn’t even see the print about my soul being the consideration for those items on sale…) Ah well. I guess I’ll learn the content of the storylet/s necessary to get it back.
For mostly the same reasons, I’m not SMEN, and I’m not pursuing a Constant Companion.
Though, to go back IT, this Hallowmas does seem to play a little with player’s caution, like a little SMEN mechanism (Warn about impending danger —> See people happily throw themselves right into it —> Rejoice). Sure these “visitors” do seem menacing, though in the end it could be something akin to Mr Sacks - creepy, but ultimately profitable if you thread carefully.
Does anybody remember the first Halloween event, mentioned somewhere in this thread? Not that it has to bear any resemblance, I’m just curious.
It wasn’t a huge event - Rubbery Men would come and knock on your door and ask for… something. Presumably treats. I gave them a fish to eat, and they were happy and went away. My wife invited them in for a cuppa, and they were a bit confused but gave her a fish in return and then went away. Rather adorable, really! There were other options, but I don’t know what they did. (I note the latest Kickstarter update mentions that this year’s event will showcase some of Sunless Sea’s characters, so it’s a nice preview of upcoming story.)
Well I finally got around to making my Wave quality and nightmare quality over 5 each (although in the nightmare’s case, limited). I am very eager, judging from the discussions, for this years Hallow’s Eve and the Feast of Masks. Even if we can’t get that adorable cave fish anymore then something else may come our way.

If someone would be so kind and tell me what the fate locked storylet with the devils is about, I’d be quite happy. In a PM, that is.
I would do it myself, but alas, my rubbery adventures have left me unable to check out their sermon. For some reason, they don’t like my tentacle.
Clearly I’m missing something as I haven’t seen anything to do with the drownies yet… I thought I had cycled through all the Airs options, though…
You need at least level 1 of "Putting the Pieces Together: the Drownies" to see it. Do you have that story quality? If not, you should plan a visit to Mr Leadbeater’s house on Cubit Square; you’ll want to meet a certain weeping employee of his. Your planning should be done in Spite.
EDIT: What the–no, not "Spite"! I absolutely meant "The Flit"! Thanks for correcting me, peeps.

Yes, I have one point in it. Still nothing though.
Hrm, then did you ever get your London Airs to levels of 90 through 100? That’s when the Drownies should call out to you.
Aw dude. Time the healer came yesterday for me. If my reckoning is correct… I’m going to have less than a day to prepare making waves after the reset. What unfortunate timing.
If you build making waves all the way up to 11 (the maximum most of the Hallowmas storylets will allow) then you’ll still have 5 Making Waves after Time the Healer comes calling, I think.
Is there a limit to the number of Hallowmas storylets you can do? Because when I look at the ‘Attracting Attention at Hallowmas’, the only option I have is to ‘Bolt the door and hide under the bed’ which I really don’t want to do because it’s even scarier under my bed and I don’t want to decrease my Making Waves. The storylets should show up, because both Nightmares and Making Waves are well above five. Is there something I’m missing? Another Menace that needs to be decreased? [li]
The available options vary depending on your Airs of London; Rob some drunks in Spite or spend some time in bed (not under it) to shuffle the Airs quality.
Also, if your nightmares reach 7 the Attracting Attention storylet will disappear.

Ah… that did the trick! A couple of pockets picked, and I can now feast on wine and bitter herbs. Thanks!
I’ve tried for ages to meet this weeping maid, but with no luck. What do you mean by planning in Spite? Is there something special there, or did you really just mean the Flit?

He probably meant the flit. As long as you do the glim heist it’s just a matter of luck. If you do the other heist I believe it’s impossible.
I totally meant to say “The Flit”; thanks for pointing that out! Anyway, it’s mostly anecdotal evidence, but the Weeping Maid card seems to be a low frequency draw. For narrative purposes, she’ll only appear at Mr Leadbeater’s house. (Jeez, just imagine one constantly leaky Drownie maid moving from one gentleman’s premises to another. Highly scandalous!)
Find a nook of the house to settle yourself into for a few days. I was Mr Leadbeater’s unwelcome and unknown guest for 48 hours before I finally heard the maid’s cries. In a way, this is sensible because she doesn’t cry every minute of the day, and it does make me feel like a creep, but…um, what was I trying to say? Er, persevere as a shadowy parasite and eventually you’ll hear her suffering? :P
I was at like burglars progress 50 by the time I drew the maid card. Just take as few risks as possible so you can stay in the house and cycle the cards as much as possible. You aren’t forced to leave, like nadir, when you hit the target progress number.

Re: NiteBrite
…which is strange honestly. What’s supposed to happen conceptually at progress: 50; the player makes off with the entire house? How incredibly droll.
