Reaching Scarlet Saint

Confirmed that both bribing at Dante’s Grill and the rare success on “enjoy the decadence” cap at 15. No more uber-Hedonism grinds during the feast!

While achieved my goal, I am still trying to raise Hedonist even further above 12 without damaging Austere via connections items.
Does Dante’s Grill Fate option lower Austere? Only used &quotenjoy the decadence&quot this far.

I spent 75 actions on this today before getting the rare success: 50 successes, 24 failures, and 1 rare success. So my admittedly rough estimate of the &quotPretty good odds&quot here are 66% success, 33% failure, and 1% rare success. After a few more rare successes, I’ll be able to try out some new and Hedonistic uses for my Entry in Slowcake’s Exceptionals, Counterfeit Head, and Ornate Typewriter.

…not all at once, of course. I’m no Nigel Overstreet.
That seems to match my experience as well, two successes (back to back somehow!) in 181 actions. So 1% sounds pretty close.
Does Dante’s Grill Fate option lower Austere? Only used &quotenjoy the decadence&quot this far.
It does not lower Austere. It does, however, lower Unaccountably Peckish! It eliminates ~5 CP of every Menace as well, raises Fascinating if you have any, and raises Masquing up to 20.

Selling your soul to door-to door devils, at least for the diamond, gives quite a few CP of hedonist, and can increase it beyond 12.

Probably should have checked this before I got this far into the Iron Republic loop de loop, but were the requirements 12 in both Hedonism and Austere, or was it 15? Just realized that my Hedonism is only at 12, and while I have an ample supply of heads, the requisite visits to the tomb colony are likely going to demolish all this hard earned Austere from the Iron Republic.

I’m pretty sure you just need 12 in both.

I dearly hope so, as I just checked the wiki and realized that for both austere and hedonism above 10, the halving hedonism option upon returning from the tomb colonies takes precedence. Given how ludicrously hard it was to get Hedonism above 12, that would be…a less than desirable outcome. It seems I must now ensure that I NEVER visit the tomb colonies again unless I somehow lose a lot of Austere first.

Can confirm this - 12 on both.

So ALMOST there. Got to 12 Austere, made my way back to London, threw down the 30 fate and completely forgot that I needed 75 connected Hell whereas I’m only at 50. Time sell a whole bunch of casing to the Brass Embassy via preparing for a big score. That’s the most effective way to raise it right?

Probably. That’s the way I went, via advice from the forum. That, and conflict cards which raise 30 cp and thus saves a few actions on casings.
Sorry, I had in mind to remind you about the connection part, but decided (wrongly) it was unnecessary information.

It might be wise to put the exact entry requirements in the first post of this thread. You can’t see them if you already have another option chosen without spending the 30 Fate first.

I don’t know if the original poster is still around though.

Another thing:
Use only the Urchin/Hell conflict card. Church/Hell will lower Austere.

I am working on my main becoming a Scarlet Saint, I’ve got 40/40 connections and I can easily get my Austere/Hedonist up to 10…but my main problem is getting past 10.

I’m near the content boundaries for nearly everything so I’ve run out of one time storylets. For Hedonist I guess I can play Croquet with the Quiet Deviless (unless it sells my soul, thats a nono for this character) but what about Austere? How can I raise that above 10? 10 is easy with God’s editors but moving beyond it seems unnecessarily challenging.

Have you unlocked the Iron Republic yet? There’s an infinite loop that you can manipulate so that you’ll continuously repeat certain storylets, one of which (Day 27, Noble Hunger) increases Austere and will max out at 15, until you exit the loop system and end your stay there. You’ll probably need a fair amount of Steadfast and Wounds, but keep in mind that while you’ll have your Austere 15 and a library’s worth of journals to sell you also might be weighed down by some menaces. Here’s a link to the wiki page that better explains it: http://fallenlondon.wikia.com/wiki/Iron_Republic’s_Agricultural_Growth_Manual_for_Austere_and_Hedonist_Caps

I am about to embark on a trip to the Iron Republic to raise my Austere from 10 to 12 (my Hedonist is already 12, and I have the requisite connections). To help with the loop my wounds are at 7 and my Steadfast is 11.

I see only two stumbling blocks: first, I must keep Scandal low enough to avoid a trip to the Tomb Colonies (thus slashing Austere). Second, Ginneon has never died and I would rather continue that trend. Accordingly, I plan to stock up on Ablution Absolution and Tinctures of Vigour.

So, two questions for my piously decadent friends:

Can anyone spot any flaws in this plan? And are there better ways to reduce Wounds and Scandal at zee? (For instance, can I accept menace reductions I’ve already received while I’m abroad?)

You don’t have to worry about menaces until you step back into London itself. The end of the day in the Iron Republic offers a method to lower all of your stats in exchange for the quality you gain while you play through it, and there are points you can hit that will set certain menaces to safe levels.

If necessary you can also stop by Hunter’s Keep on the way back. There are two autofire events there with Nightmares and Wounds 8 respectively, lowering them to 6.

I have ascended to Scarlet Sainthood! Many thanks for the advice.

Congratulations!!!
