Rat Sending Simulator 2015

[quote=Spacemarine9]I advise clicking it if you hate yourself and/or you want to experience the most gruelling true-to-life paperwork experience in a video game.

okay actually maybe Papers, Please takes the most gruelling true-to-life spot. second most, then.

I already did. I can’t resist. I need help.

There is no help for those trapped in Debt Zone. Unless they manage to convince someone else to eat millions of ratdebt for them, but that doesn’t count.

Hanon has no friends.

I have an important announcement to make: You can now eat Rat Eggs.
No i don’t know why this is a thing you’d want to do either, but it’s apparently something that somebody, somewhere wanted to do. So now you can.

That is all. I’m going to go overdose on pineapple chunks again to see if it helps me come up with more dumb garbage. I think i’m like officially a Game Developer ™ now and will have my own golden palace + personal continent within the week.[/i]

That was interesting … don’t think I will repeat the experience again though!

this is eggsactly the correct attitude to have

No worries.
One I would like to repeat is the Rat Tournament - I would love a collection of Golden Rats!

Actually, I think I might have an idea for that. New Game Plus: Tournament Edition?
I think I can make the challenges increase in difficulty depending on your number of Golden Rats, so getting extra Golden Rats becomes harder! Amazing!?

e: whoah it… works. i’m surprised

You can now re-do the Tournament! It’s turned into a horrific mess of rich effects and I deeply hope I haven’t misplaced a bracket somewhere. The rewards and difficulties will scale based on the number of Golden Rats you possess. If you get a lot of Golden Rats, maybe something good will happen?

here’s some garbage about the arcane processes going on behind the scenes if you care enough to read it

Currently the difficulty scales linearly {the difficulty metric is now <original difficulty> * (1 + [q:Golden Rat])} however if I feel like a jerk i might make it Golden Rats squared so it ramps up in difficulty and makes you hate my guts all the more quickly. But then getting enough Golden Rats for a nice thing to happen might turn into a terrible chore requiring millions more rats than it is feasibly possible to gather. hmm, idk, maybe i’ll ask some people for opinions after they try the New Enhanced Tournament.
I’m just deathly afraid of breaking something and making all the challenges 0 difficulty, or alternatively infinite difficulty, but at the same time i’d rather it doesn’t just become &quotok here’s a bunch of straightforward challenges in a row because you already have All The Rats Ever and the difficulty scaling is entirely irrelevant&quot. Game design!
i apologise for the blatant misuse of brackets there. i used every kind of bracket, even the curly ones. but it’s the only way to be sure.

Thanks - love it but Giles is going to be tough to get past this time. Rats are easy but Fanciness is another thing. Time to get brewing.

oof, actually you’d need 175 Fanciness to get 60% odds on Giles at the number of Golden Rats it takes to get a lovely thing to happen. I’ll tune that down a bit, I think.

Might be a good idea - I’m only at Fanciness 29 fully equipped. It will take a LOT of brewing to get to 175 - maybe some better equipment is needed:)[li]

Okay, I fiddled with the formula now, Giles’ fanciness should only get 20% more fancy each tournament cycle instead of 100%. If I’ve done this right.
Also I didn’t realise Giles and the final challenger were using the same portrait so I fixed that :V

I have already sent off a lot of rats to other people so I can buy the things needed to get more Fancy Brews. I’ll have to wait for my actions to refresh to see if I still have enough rats and fanciness to beat Giles. It took me several attempts the first time I did the Rat Tournament anyway.

Extra fanciness seems to be the way to go for other parts of the game anyway.

Thanks for creating it Spacemarine9 - I really don’t know what it is but it is the only other storynexus game, apart from Fallen London, that I have really got into.

I’m going to postulate it’s either a psychological response to seeing really big numbers of rats go up or I’m actually way better at writing than I think I am.

Also, because i’m feeling magnanimous today, here is an access code! It will give you 2 golden rats, if you already have a golden rat. If you don’t have a golden rat, you will instead eat the access code and cause nothing to happen. Which is terrible because it only has 10 uses. Rat Responsibly ™

Oh my. Now I really want to have a much higher tier of rat points -> rats conversion option. The currently highest one gets really repetitively repetitive with all the repetition of click scroll click scroll click scroll that needs repeating to get enywhere.

I have a &quotSend all your rats&quot option written, but it doesn’t work due to some eldritch Storynexus bug. I might put in an even higher ratsend tier in the meantime though
And done! You can now send a million rats through the Kingly Life storylet. Because only a king should have that many rats/
edited by Spacemarine9 on 7/23/2013

I was not talking about sending, but rat prizes lounge. I would use a 1000000 points -> 4000000 rats option there.

Oh, whoops, i guess i read that arrow backwards. Reading comprehension! Yeah I can do that thing.
For what it’s worth though, there’s been a &quotTrade all your rat points for rats&quot option on the Black Market card for a while, but I think maybe a higher-tier easily available conversion wouldn’t be too terrible anyway.
Maybe.

Okay, yeah, another King-only storylet for trading in vast quantities of Rat Points for Rat. The black market option is a bit less efficient, I guess (2.7 rats/rat point) but it doesn’t take a bunch of actions so i guess that’s a tradeoff
edited by Spacemarine9 on 7/23/2013

  1. I don’t really want to trade in all my points
  2. black market requires action expenditure and luck, while prizes lounge is guaranteed and has zero action cost (and over 4.54 rats/rat point)
  3. I think rat lounge actually has better returns anyway, just more real-time investment in the clicking

BTW, do the spoils of &quotgive back all your uniforms&quot scale with amount of uniforms?

There’s not exactly much else to spend rat points on besides lots of rats. Which you can then turn into lots of rat points again.
I think the exchange rate on black market options should be better than the Lounge ones, unless i’ve screwed up somewhere. Video game balance??? how 2
and yeah, giving back all your uniforms scales w/ uniform amount.
