I have had multiple characters do six cycles already. It’s about one in four attempts. Every cycle only gives five attempts though, and there’s no way to force an early exit.

I just did the cycle four times and got four skulls—one on the third cycle and three on the fourth. Limited sample. Definitely rare. I almost gave up after two tries.
New tail in The Geology of Winewound card.
Oh… ! Really? Man, I had been discarding those cards!
Eh… wait. There are three options. Which one?

It should be fourth option. IDK prerequisites, probably Route: Bone Market and surveys.

I feel more than slightly inadequate with my plaster tails.

Alright, my update on the islands:
I have done 17 cycles of Bullbone Island, with four characters. That’s 85 attempts. They have obtained 17 skulls.
So maybe it’s a one in five chance, not one in four as I mentioned earlier. (Fortunately, the cycles were not much of a waste; I had been wanting to accumulate Glim, Aeolian Screams, Beetles and Map Scraps among my characters but I had been putting these off.)
I have one character at Grunting Fen (at Sea of Voices) now. I will also use that character to see if there is any aftermath for Heart’s Desire ambition.
I have done the cycle at Bullbone only twice, with only one character. That character now has 3 Horned Skulls.

EDIT: I did the cycle one final time before leaving and got 2 more Horned Skulls, bringing my total up to 5.

Oh, so you can get more than one Horned Skull at a time? That’s pretty interesting. I usually just do one run of each island when I do a scientific expedition, but it seems like these skulls are pretty solid on Menace and Antiquity so it might be worth it to stockpile them.
I haven’t pulled The Geology of Winewound yet. I’m so used to discarding it instantly that I’m afraid that I’ll keep doing so out of habit.
One of my characters pulled four in the first cycle alone.
That character is trying to get to the fourth cycle. I want this one to have 5 - no luck on the second and third cycles.
The RNG’s are really fickle.
By the way, at this time of writing, I have had three characters complete five cycles of Grunting Fen, picking different options to see if there are alternative outcomes. Nadda.
I was hoping that I could catch living bones (there was one option with an outcome that describes your character nearly catching a small living bone), but nope.
Right. I am sending over some character’s to Hunter’s Keep next. Gonna check the well while getting another Stone-Tentacle Key for them again.
Nope, just Glim from the well. No bones.

Still nothing in the Shuttered palace.
Any chance you have something helpful?
Have a look at Call in Favours.
And apparently according to wiki, the Criminals can also chip into supplying us with body parts when you call in favours in the Flit.
The Bone Market’s sale mechanism has been reworked - for the better!
Such a good change. No more getting to the market with no one to sell to!!!
Could you please elaborate a bit about what has changed? Has the ability to obtain the various materials and their relative economy been preserved?
With Time the Healer soon to come, I won’t likely be able to visit the Bone Market very soon.
The main changes are the user interface, and that the buyer cards have been incorporated into a branching storylet, i.e. you don’t need to draw cards anymore; you can find them in menus.
The menus have options that become available as soon as you fulfill the conditions for those buyers. In the case of buyers that never had any conditions, like the Bone-Hoarder, that option is always available.

Most importantly, the Bone Market is now considered London proper, i.e. you can draw the usual cards there.
Yay!
Get the cheaper parts through this storylet! Also, the options use Jade Fragments - finally some new use for this Tier 1 resource!

Anyone already tried Annings kit from the new station ? Does the skeleton type now finally make a difference ?
The Hinterland Scrip image changed, too (as did Fistful of Surface Currency, to something similar to the new Scrip one but a different color palette)
It unlocks a story inside the Bone Market. You also need a completed skeleton to see it. There are like five or six different options, each of which requires a specific type of skeleton, as well as values for the other skeleton qualities, as well as additional materials.
