Paleontologist: The Bone Market

So this is related to paleontology, if not strictly the Bone Market. I just drew a card that introduced me to a character called the Carpenter’s Daughter, who has come from the Surface (Lyme Regis) to lecture on paleontology. I introduced her to my friend the Debonair Paleontologist, but there were other options on the card including (I think) giving her survey information and turning in a skeleton in progress. It gave me a quality called &quotFamiliarity with the Carpenter’s Daughter&quot (currently &quot1 - You’ve been to a lecture by the Carpenter’s Granddaughter&quot).

Here are the journal entries for the encounter:

Note the suggestion that these skeletons might be brought to life!

Mary Anning! :)

I don’t know how much I’m able to say about Flute Street in this topic, but there have been some updates to the carousel. Let me know if I need to delete this.

I learned something today! Neat!

Thanks. I’ve just drawn this as well. Should be interesting. :)
Other options beasides the Paleontologists’s Daughter were giving survey information, attending another lecture, and showing off a skeleton you’ve constructed to sell and maybe get a &quotunique base.&quot The other lecture gave 4 more incisive observations in addition to the base ones from the card.

When I drew the card and had the Carpenter’s Daughter talk with my Paleontologist, I got 4 Memories of Light.

Apparently Flute Street was updated to give Helical Thighbones less than an hour after I left. shakes fist

Did you at least bring us each back <body part I’m not sure I can mention>?

Rubbery Skulls? I think those are an acceptable conversation topic, but you can only get one at a time.

Exactly. If you are struck by lightning, we’ll know not to talk about them. :)

And I just got 2 plaster tailbones in exchange for 10 Surveys.

I said the wrong thing in my post above. The character giving paleontological lectures is the Carpenter’s GRANDdaughter.

After creating an unbelievably unrealistic skeleton with 8 Ivory Humeruses, I have managed to create one worth over 30,000 pennies and sell the Carpenter’s Granddaughter! Text is linked below:

It rewards with a Leviathan Frame.

A couple notes on the result of that, for people interested.

As promised by the explainer text, the Leviathan Frame is a torso that you can use to start a Skeleton. On its own, it has a base value of 31,500 pennies. So selling your extremely-expensive skeleton is nearly break-even for the frame. I’m not at the point where I can confirm but I suspect this is a repeatable action, meaning the Leviathan is basically a Tier-2 Skeleton.

The size of your stall matters. You need a top-tier Stall to begin a skeleton on the Leviathan frame.

The Leviathan Frame has a tail (not a tail slot, but a tail). And room for two limbs. With Amber, this can be expanded to 6 limbs. I am a few actions away from doing something unwise. If you don’t hear back, assume the Special Constables caught wind of this.

Update: I have not found anyone who is especially interested in my creation yet. I have a few options that need exploring before I give up, though.

In unrelated news, it seems I will be needing an extensive knife collection. And I want to say how much I appreciate the Scrimshander knife being used for its proper purpose.

Honestly I’m waiting for the arrival of tier 3 Torso’s

I could see a Rubbery Torso (call it the Gordian Ribcage) being something found within Flute Street.

Please don’t lock a third Palaeontology item behind the same Fate-locked story.

Ah, but it does make a lot of sense, considering both rubbery and archeological facets central to the Flute Street content.

It would be great if we could also dig for Palaeontological materials in the Forgotten Quarter. I was pretty sure that would be the ultimate purpose of the Bones’ Survey. But hey, the content keeps trickling in, so who knows what and where we’ll be able to assemble into magnificent specimens in the future!

It would also be nifty if we were also able to keep a skeleton for ourselves, in any form, although Home Comfort would be an obvious choice.

Now that we have access to Tail bones from the Carpenter’s Granddaughter, were we able to attach them and make a Monkey creature?

And a last question - when selling your skeleton to the Carpenter’s Granddaughter, does she care about high levels of Implausibility? It is hard to make convincing Chimeras…

I was just making a suggestion. it didn’t have to be good.

Also they should make it so you can get Helical Thighbones and Rubbery Skulls from Dig Sites in the future and maybe also from an option to study an Unearthly Fossil in your Lab

The Gordian Ribcage would have just been a 2 Amalgamy Start Point for a Skeleton anyhoo.

Sadly, I can confirm this is true, even after giving my dinosaur a plaster tail replica!

I’ll point out that even making a Bird, which seems like a kinda basic type, requires some Serious Research in the laboratory to unlock. And [CENSORED] also has an unlock requirement which is pretty expensive outside of Sackmas. I’m expecting upcoming content will include unlocking other body plans.

In the meantime I’m just wondering what the heck to do with my Completely Authentic, 110% Rubbery [CENSORED] Skeleton. It seems a shame to sell right now, and I’m hoping someone interested in that type of skeleton will eventually appear… but I also can’t really do much in the Bone Market while this magnificent beauty is taking up my whole stall.

Just like the buyers in the Bone Market proper, Implausibility affects the difficulty of the Shadowy check that you have to pass to make the sale.
