New Renown Items Available

I’m a little puzzled too. When I logged on today, I had 7 Urchin Favours, 37 Connected:Urchins, and 2 Renown:Urchins. Are the Connected expected to convert to Renown and/or Favours eventually? Or should we do this manually somehow?

They keep the old connected number there in case there’s a problem and they have to undo everything.

I’m delighted that people have given hints about pursuing Mutton Island here. I’m nearly half way to Hepta and I didn’t know there was anything to do with Stormy-Eyed. I have to figure this grind out now. Thank you to posters, as always, for being so fantastic and helping keep the rest of us on the right path.

The location of the renown 40 item does seem amusing and thematically fitting, but it seems like a problem that for most players who don’t actively look on the wiki, Stormy Eyed is an interesting quality that just enhances dreams. Having an uncapped source makes it less harsh, but most people also don’t tend to go to Mutton Island more than once or twice for maybe once they get their first ship, and again when they go to Fruits of the Zee Festival. There’s nothing that actually ties together Mutton Island, Stormy Eyed at 18, and Renown: Urchins 40 in a way where it makes sense for people to look there.

I think the location could work, but this seems needlessly convoluted as it is now. I know the dream storylets are beyond ancient, but just having any sort of hint somewhere would make things more bearable. Heck, even a card (Maybe not a card, for those who don’t like clutter) showing up at Renown 40 where an urchin mentions Stormy Eyed in some way and hands you a favour could work to hint at it.

Something is distinctly uncomfortable about how incredibly obscure this is for the average player.

You have to be on the mutton island for an insanely long time to get stormy eyed to a number where it will matter, you get one change point an action and not for very long before you have to waste like 10 actions to do it again, it doesn’t actually take such a long time to do but I don’t see how a single person would do this blindly thinking it would unlock a new location(you don’t expect that getting 100 in a quality like &quotApproaching the gates of the garden&quot will unlock a bunch of new stories, you would just do it for fun).

I feel like it’s worth asking; has anyone seen if using the Constables connection card lowers Urchin Favours?

Rubbery favours didn’t drop on one specific card where it only took a few connection points, im guessing urchins won’t either(since this would be absolutely ridiculous).

12 actions if you don’t have any troublemakers in your class.

It’s not a companion, it’s a weapon.

It appears safe, as I’ve just (with trepidation) done it without the feared result. I have a mighty Renown:Urchins 7, and had 5 Urchin Favours to lose at the time.

OTOH, rashly and hopefully deciding to persuade an Urchin to keep his soul and defy a suave Deviless on the reworked ‘The Devil and the Child’ card tanked 10 points of my Connected:Hell, did the usual Wounds, didn’t (as per usual) change my highish Austere…and gave me 2 Antique Mysteries, and 2 Tales of Terror in return, not the Urchins favour I was hoping for.

Devils.

Is it true that the winsome orphan card now gives favours for the urchins?

New option here, yes, in exchange for 2 Memory of Distant Shores/

With the information gathered so far, I would say the best way to grind the Urchins favors would be to do the 12 action Finishing School carousel with the Urchin as the final exam. This also resets the opportunity deck so you can try to get cards that reward favors such as having the Winsome Disposed Urchin, having the Grubby Kitten, the arson and avarice option in Plausible Penance, and of course the Urchins faction card. The carousel should always take exactly 12 actions by picking the Urchin and two other good students, but it is luck based so be patient.

Yeah, the conflict cards with Favours function as a way to cash in Favours rather than gain more. On the cards with only one converted faction, cashing in the Favours is more profitable than cashing in Connected. Both options give comparable value of rewards (which scales for Favours), but it’s a lot easier to get back the 5-7 Favours than the ~500 CP of Connected.

Just noticed that before the change I had more than enough Connected to qualify for “'Ere, you! D’you want this?” but now I do not. Might want to tweak that?

Changing requirements of Seasonal Content mid-season seems a bit rash. At least it’s not 7 Night Whispers again!

P.S. Thanks for new Urchin content! :D

P.P.S. Omg, Stormy-Eyed though? Well, I’ve plenty of time to grind it while waiting on Urchin Favours to show up. :P

Look at the war of assassins: a Renown 20 unlock!

Is FBG removing quirk decreases from all the actions they’re converting from using connected to favors? That would be a welcome change. It’s extremely frustrating trying to preserve a high level quirk and being unable to grind certain resources on faction cards. Particularly on undiscardable conflict cards, where you may be forced into a choice you don’t want because the alternative involves a quirk decrease.

Re&quot The low-level Urchins Renown item–

It’s on the Opportunity card called &quotThe Roof Tops: Urchins&quot (the same card where they sell pails of lacre during the holiday season). I haven’t been able to use it yet because I don’t have enough Favours, but I can see that 10 Renown and 3 Favours will get you a Feathered Bonnet (stats presently unknown).

49 renown… can’t help but feel at least a little bit annoyed…

The Cheesemonger card, &quotTask from the Cheesemonger&quot seems to give a favor on &quottip off the Urchins&quot. My alt just got the card, automatically clicked the option - and got &quotyour favors didn’t increase because it’s higher than 6&quot. Because I forgot about them. But it looks like it gives a favor.
