Hurlers

Hey, just to let you know I’m sorry but though I got your calling card and I’d love to help, I can’t seem to accept your invitation because for some reason the game thinks you aren’t an elligible contact? I’m showing it to FB support since I’m not sure what’s going on

I can help with missives now! Thanks for sending me one and I’m happy to return the favor now.

I hate dying. Is there any convenient way to escape from the Boatman? I’ve already completed my chess games so that’s no good. The supposed 60% chance to win is a total joke and you fill up on nightmares even if you do beat him. I don’t really see that there’s much else to do than gamble on the 50-50 dice shot or waste actions on red cards.

And no, cider is not the answer I’m looking for here, unless you wanna spot me 70k.

Horsehead amulet? Haven’t tried them in a while, though.

Do those actually work in this case? I also wouldn’t exactly call them a convenient solution, given how tricky they are to get… although as luck would have it I do have the correct statue at Burrow, so if I draw enough cards there I suppose I should eventually get one.

I don’t think that will work here, since you get sent to the slow boat directly.

Aside from cider, I don’t think there’s an easy way out.
Aside from cider, I don’t think there’s an easy way out.
That’s been my feeling. And I really hate it. Have any actions left when you go in? Wasted. Any actions you generate while there? Also wasted. It’s basically all done by drawing red cards. It’s the worst.

I’ve had auto-deaths deflected by Horsehead Amulets.

The seventh seal must not be broken!
In need of a discordant missive. Will reciprocate.

Only if the devs wrote two versions of the storylet that were locked with/without the amulet.

Do the items you get through breaking the seals have uses? I know one has a use on a card.

If I can distract from the Discordance content for a moment, I’d like to verify a few things:

-You can only heist the gem exchange once
-Returning the IOU to the Lapidary gives no unique reward or anything else of real value or interest, so stealing it only to give it back to her is an exceedingly silly thing to do
-There are no other options to dispose of it besides her and Mr Stones
-Giving it to Mr Stones for the unique item is pretty much a no-brainer

Are these all correct?
• I believe you can rob the vault again once you’ve disposed of the note either way (at least, I’m not aware of anything that would stop you).

 • There’s no unique reward for giving the note to the Lapidary, and I doubt it’s worth it for the 10 Blackmail Material you get (though I have not run the numbers).

 • As far as I know, there’s no other way to get rid of the note (if it exists, it’s not on the wiki).

 • Giving the note to Mr Stones is definitely the best thing to do from a rewards perspective, though you might choose not to for moral reasons (it does not end well for the Lapidary if you do).
So, I have also reached the painful phase where one does not need any cryptic missives. I won’t be happy to reciprocate/send any Missive either, as I certainly don’t have any prepared for mail.

Oh, and I have to say, I love each Railway station even more than the previous ones. Tremendous amount of work and art has gone into the Hurlers, kudos!

Does anyone else have the feeling that the Lapidary is the same one who provided us with the nice, dazzling walking cane all those years back? Makes me kind of… not want to betray her. Although, with all the Neathy shenanigans we’ve been up to lately, surely any fate that befalls her would quite easily be rectified by so accomplished gentlebeings that we are?

The Calculating Lapidary does share the same artwork as the Keen-Eyed Lapidary, and her sister, the Itinerant Physician. However I always got the feeling the two of them were not &quotin&quot with the Masters, seeing as they both work through unofficial channels. I also suspect anyone in the employ of Stones wouldn’t be handing out anything bejeweled, as a matter of principle.

Maybe the Keen-Eyed Lapidary became Calculating over time. But I doubt it. They seem like very different characters, and the Calculating Lapidary does not recognize you.

And that Calculating Lapidary isn’t coming back. Another one will, but that one isn’t.

Just noticed something new at the gem exchange. Has anyone tried this yet?

I couldn’t do it right away since I’m short one bribe. Knew I should have farmed that Discordant Ripples card a little more…

And what is the rest of the reqs?

It requires an item from the Discordant Studies line, so it’s not on the wiki. Effectively, it lets you trade an impossible theorem for veils-velvet. That is one of the middle steps, requiring an immaterial material.
And what is the rest of the reqs?
Clues:
The name of the action
The place it’s available

So besides the bribes, it requires you to have built and upgraded the place and to have the thing. And I guess that fourth one is that you can’t repeat the action before you complete the trade.

I’m confused - it’s an alternative option, to get an item instead of progress, right?
