Hurlers

I saw somewhere that the Heptagoat statue counts for Honoured with a Statue, does anyone know if that’s true for the Ubergoat statue as well? I really don’t want to break my streak of self-aggrandizement, but the Ubergoat statue seems way more useful than the Steward statue.

Yes, you are included in all of the goat statues so they count for your Multiply Honoured rating.

I have stones 4+4… how do nightmares work again in the upper river, is nightmares 8 an instant ticket to the Mirror-Marches? Or is there an eighth seal?

There is the Eighth. I haven’t done it yet. The idea that I want to try is increasing Nightmares to 7 then, while already at place, equipping a Nightmares +1 item. Theoretically, it should allow to do one operation before the game forces you into the Mirror-Marches.

You are not immediately sent to the Menace Zone.

I am told this is a side-effect of everything near the Hurlers being a compulsory storylet. Menaces don’t fire until you either exit a Storylet, or at least reach one that you can &quotPerhaps Not&quot out of. If your Nightmares are still 8 when you return back to the station offices, then Menaces would fire.

I thought that might be the case, cheers.

Then I promptly entered Parabola and forgot to unequip… oof, a little extra grinding to recover those skills. I guess it’s fine though, I only had one Storm-bird sighting previously, so…

So anyone got a discordant missive to spare ?
Currently its the only thing i lack to leave all the seals unbroken.
Will happily return the favor by sending other kinds of mail, or another discordant missive when i obtain the required level of skill

You know, I’m looking at the posts here and wondering whether I really want to continue with what really looks like a headbanging exercise. I mean, the imp is cute, but if it’s indicative of the rewards to follow, the game’s not worth the candle, is it?

Not everyone would want to take this step. Indeed, there’s no reason to take it. No reason whatsoever.

The Stewards of the Discordance would say: Do not do this.

Totally worth it. Great texts, lore connections to SSkies. Enigmatic parts mechanically give nothing useful. At least not useful yet.

I have a question that I…don’t think DIRECTLY pertains to the Discordance spoiler stuff since I’ve finished it with encountering it. On someone’s mantelpiece, I dimly remember seeing an interaction with the Caprine Vagabound where instead of just ruminating with ruminants, he shows you a book and tells you a little about the history of the goat demons before the Devils came. Does anyone know how to unlock that interaction? All I managed a while back was to keep ruminating with the ruminants.

I would quite appreciate a missive if anyone can spare one. I’m sadly not quite at the point of being able to send one back, but I’d be glad to help with nightmares or anything else that might be of use.

I believe the interaction you have depends on which Discordant Law you have (or if you have one at all). You’ll need Frozen Thoughts to get that one, I think.

Asking for a missive myself.
Just to clarify: there’s no penalty for holding on them indefinitely, especially for the sender? Indefinitely = longer than a week, since I’m grinding for a lot of things.

Once the sender has sent the missive, the quality of having a piece of mail that has not been sent is gone. No consequences for the sender.
The receiver can accumulate up to several pieces of the same type of mail - but otherwise does not appear to lose them.
The only thing to worry about is the &quotMired in Mail&quot quality, which is removed by Time, the Healer. You will want to have your character answer mail weekly in order to avoid diminishing returns on reading mail that have accumulated a lot.

The best reasons to open up the Adulterine Castle’s content is to gain access to sources of resources that were previously not so reliable or cost-effective to accumulate, such as Maniac’s Prayers and Stolen Correspondence.

You won’t get any special piece of equipment from that content. (You do get &quotprecious&quot or &quotcoveted&quot grade resources that enable the aforementioned sources though.)

You need to build up Crystallne Knowledge.

And no, that’s not a piece of gear that the giant goat is giving. Just resources.

I would like a missive myself. I can send one in return.
EDIT: I haven’t gotten one already

Oh! I would very much like a certain missive myself! I’ll try to send one back if I can… Much appreciated.

Missive exchange please?

For anyone who already got a calling card from me: I will send you a missive regardless as long as you accept the card. It may take a little time if I’m not in London.
