It sounds alright but The Pavilion of Butterflies is quite generous with Nightmare gains, the only caveat is you must have an abundant stockpile of Strangling Willow Absinthe.
Also, you can get the Cheerful Goldfish and Bejwelled Cane, both Nightmare-reducing items, quite early in the game.
And when you’re done with the Pavilion, you probably won’t want to come back to it next year.
P.S: I hope there will be more Menace-reducing items in future. Case in point: Wounds-reducing items for Spite/Baby masque.The only one available is a helmet, which you have to swap out for your baby mask during the grinding. Also, that helmet can only be obtained when you’ve unlocked the Railway. Seems like it has not been properly thought out.
One of FL’s core design principles is asymmetry, so no, I’d say it’s probably quite intentional that there are markedly fewer sources of Wounds-reducing equipment. Moreover, my guess is that the fact that "Immerse yourself in the amber springs" gives 2.5 Echoes of profit, which none of the other options at any of the masques do, is intended to partially compensate for that asymmetry. edited by hwoosh on 10/30/2021

The Pavilion is decent yes and worth a go round once or twice to see everything. But if one is looking to be efficient unless I’m missing an action free way to cycle Airs it’s strictly worse both in the CP per action (~4.5 vs ~4.33 even before the actions and possibly favour to get in and out) and in the fact that you need that stockpile of Absinthe. And while older players may have sufficient stocks, newer ones are quite unlikely to. Whereas the Underclay is unlocked early even after the Clearing-Out.
And while the Goldfish, Cane and the like do extend the time between needing to enter and exit, their other use (allowing you to grind higher before needing to turn in) applies to the Underclay grind too.
My fear is that I will wake up at the end of Hallowmas to discover that dealing with the Squalling Infant has earned me some kind of diaper-related affiliation and that the rest of you will laugh at me.
Look at the art for the Infant mask. It’s got about 45 arms and no legs. There’s no conceivable place for a diaper to fit.
Sounds like this calls for a new lab experiment for overcoming this challenge!

Saying that when Parabola’s right next door is just tempting fate. The 90-holed diaper might just exist-it just happens to be a very elusive beast that must be hunted down in the territory of the Fingerkings, at great risk to life and limb. edited by Captain Blood Storm on 10/31/2021
Impropriety to Curiosity
Violence to Whimsy
Whimsy to Pride
Looks like there is no way for Curiosity to be changed into Guile or Violence. You have to use an Impropriety or Pride or Whimsy to do that. :(
Thank you for listing these all out. I have the cycles figured now. I’ll add a picture later.
Any Confession can (eventually) be exchanged for any other confession, but in some cases it takes multiple conversions.
The six confessions sort into two cycles of three confessions each.
Cycle 1: Guile -> Violence -> Whimsey -> Guile
Cycle 2: Pride -> Impropriety -> Curiosity -> Pride
In both cycles, the first conversion is in Watchmaker’s, the second in Veilgarden, and the third in Spite.
Additionally, there are two bridges between the cycles. You can cross from Cycle 1 to Cycle 2 by converting Whimsey to Pride in Veilgarden; and from Cycle 2 to Cycle 1 by converting Impropriety into Violence in Watchmaker’s Hill.
The longest cycle is converting Guile to Curiosity or vice-versa, both of which require 5 exchanges (and 4 party entrances). You can, of course, trade with players instead.
We’ll be getting the new batch of Confessions tomorrow. Below I’ve attached the illustrated guide to the Confession cycles that I’ve described in words above. Any Confession can be exchanged for any other without interacting with other players, but trading with players is often simpler and shorter.
Oops, I did it again. Mirror marches this time. So that’s 1 tomb colonies from totally failing to pay attention, and thinking it was funny to wear a barrel (but I got a lion), 1 Newgate (but I got the forger acquaintance) and one Mirrormarches - no obvious thing to gain, but did get my wounds up nicely so I could cash in as soon as I got home.
I MUST remember that when the game message says I have 7 nightmares, I actually have more if I’ve got my albatross on. The message is about the base level, not the modified level. Trap for new players, that. And silly ones who fall into it multiple times.
But what happens if your Hallowmas Spirit reaches or exceeds 2.5k?
If I hit 2.5k, is there anymore incentive to keep raising Spirit? More stuff unlocked? A fancy title as a souvenir for your participation?
I have used up hundreds of Strangling Willow Absinthe at the Pavilion. Now I’m waiting for week 2 of Hallowmas to officially begin so I can get the Confessions i need.
I’m asking this because actions are a scarce commodity, I can grind for Rat Market exchange items or get on with my Notablity/Railway.

Previously it has only been a vanity title. I will hit 2500 Spirit tomorrow doing only the Baby Loop with no resource expenditure (and around 750 echoes in profit). If you’re not going for some kind of absurd vanity title, you shouldn’t be doing the Moth.
I don’t understand why sometimes when nightmares are at 7+, I can get rid of them, while some other times I go to the nightmare world. I have the moth mask on me all the time, so why is that?
