Hallowmas 1898
Imgur: The magic of the Internet

Almost forgot, earlier today I successfully upgraded the Countess and here’s the result. I have unintentionally made an enemy for Arbor, it seems. I’d check if Arbor itself has any reaction but I’m too busy grinding Spirit of Hallowmas.

There should be a card you can draw, but I believe there’s a fixed entry point is in Watchmaker’s Hill. You’ll need a Docks, Urchins or Tomb Colonists favor to get in. Although funny you should say that-by trial and error I’ve found that racking up Suspicion by purposefully failing challenges in the Cabinet Noir is a VASTLY superior way to earn Spirit of Hallowmas than doing the cycle at St. Elmo’s.
Blast. I haven’t gotten to Balmoral yet. Anyone have any nightmares suggestions? I’m running low on Strangling Willow from this masque.
Just curious, who here’s changing their Destiny? I’ve held onto The Road (the version that has you becoming a Master) for several years but I’m kinda curious about the Neathy predator king ending in the Liberation of Night route too. I probably won’t change it but…the thought does cross my mind, whenever I draw the card for changing destinies. What about everyone else?
Never. Backstage is it for me.

Have you got access to Parabola? While untested I’d think hunting Warblers and other fauna would be pretty Nightmare-inducing, especially since the option to reduce Wounds has a chance of adding Nightmares.

Can anyone remember if there is a minimum Spirit of Hallowmas to gain an affiliation? My main is interested in going for 2500 but my alt just wants the Queen of Air and Darkness affiliation, after getting St. Elmo last year. Thanks!

You get an Affiliation for free, depending on the type of menace you’ve given to the Fool more often (Nightmares for the Queen) when it reaches 7. Even only once is enough.

Is there any way to tell which Masque we’ve attended most often? I’ve kind of lost track already and can’t find any quality that seems to indicate.

The Masques are visible storylets at their respective locations, no cards. However, if you draw the Opportunity card associated with the mask you have chosen, you can use it to get into that Masque without paying a Favour. If you don’t want to wait on a card, you can get in to any Masque by paying one of the types of Favours it accepts.

…I’m so far behind yall obviously I am doing something wrong… :( I’m only at Spirit of Hallowmas 146

that’s after ging to each location to check them out, rank up the menace at each location and exchange with fool… and then got my moth mask and 1 more run thru with nightmare 7 with mask on and turn into fool… O.o …
Currently ALL I’m doing besides managing confessions and event companions and playing the occasional valuable card (currently discarding most I would normally play) is

 1. going to the masque in veilgarden and turning in nightmares

 2. playing cards to get favours to get into the masque or directly re-entering with the mask card

Basically spending no actions on anything else.
You can visit all the locations to see what they are, but if you want to gather more spirit then be sure to pick one menace/masque to play for the rest of the event based on who you want a reward from. Make sure you have the mask for that party and then just visit that one for the rest of the event. The options at the party requiring the mask are the best ones.
Thanks for the info - today I did and finished the elder thief troupe exceptional story, so I can go back to focusing on the nightmares (I need to figure out where I can get nightmares nicely since I do not have parabola (don’t even know how to get there) and am running out of absinthe 0.o ) but the latest exceptional story was cute, tho used a lot of actions ::wiping brow::

Yeah, still don’t know that I know what I’m doing, but ah well, the road to #3ll and all that… I’ll just sniff the flowers.

I’m not sure where my Destiny of THE MEMORY will lead me, but I’m curious about this road and don’t plan to spend any fate or switch to something else . I just got this during the island missions we just finished last month (Interesting place, I got some neat items like a forsaken crown of a devil and cured jellyfluer cloak and pocket watch and a decanter of drownie effluvia).

Hmmm… I was hoping Parabola wouldn’t be the answer as I need the honey for another grind right now. Oh well, I just need more Boho favours to call in, I guess.

I can state conclusively that Parabola hunting is not a decently efficient way to raise nightmares.

Any ideas about generating Scandal? Purposefully losing challenges at the Bone Market sounds a bit “meh”, but I didn’t do the math.

I just do the parties, simple with less headache.

I might have made the mistake of buying another confession and ended up with a spare. Do I have to spend it? Will it go away?

(that is not a word?!)
I wish to trade a confession of guile for a confession of violence, as I have much to many guile and none of dangerous.
My name is the same as here
Wrong forum, go here: https://community.failbettergames.com/topic28168-hallowmas-confession-trading.aspx

Is there a list of all the possible companions and their stats? Which ones are best in slot or otherwise worth having?

No. But this might help https://fallenlondon.fandom.com/wiki/Hallowmas_(historical)#Hallowmas_2020_.281898.29

If you are interested in combining with the Poet Laureate grind, you can do that using &quotThe Bohemians&quot (+1 Scandal, +15 Inspired).
Some minor plays give +10 Scandal at completion:

 • A History (Play, also 3000 Brass)
 • A Political Anthem (Song, 3000 Beeswax)
 • A Rubbery Tone Poem (Symphony, 3000 Amber)
 • An Infernal Work (Ballet, 3000 Brass)

If not, as Tsar Koschei wrote, you are probably better off using the mask at parties.

Out of curiosity, what spirit does everyone have so far?

I was just looking for a point of comparison, as it’s my first Hallowmas attempting to get spirit.

Are you familiar with Seeking the Name? With five Unaccountably Peckish you can get an opportunity card (ubiquitous frequency) that gives ten CP scandal for 2,5 echo. Since laboratory deck refreshes end soon, I do that as one last hurrah Though you should have a five-cards lodging.
