Hallowmas 1898

A damp fog fills London’s streets. Londoners of all stripes lurk in its concealment: masked, cloaked, triply hidden. It is the season of Hallowmas, of the commission and purging of sin. Londoners seek out the Attendants – the masked representatives of the Bazaar – to be shriven.

Go masked to exclusive Hallowmas parties. Raise your scandal, suspicion and nightmares, and unburden yourself to the seven Attendants. Expose certain of your Companions to the sights of Hallowmas and leave them changed.

At Hallowmas, it is customary to go masked.

Three masks are in vogue this year: the Smiling Demon, the Four-Eyed Moth, and the Triple Crown. Select yours, gain access to a secretive Hallowmas revel, and indulge yourself to raise your Scandal, Suspicion or Nightmares.

The Attendants

The Attendants are the representatives of the Bazaar at Hallowmas. Londoners deliver up confessions to them; their own and others.

Many Londoners wear masks. Only seven have been called on to do so by the Masters themselves.

The Smiling Jester. The Glasswhisper. The Knight of Numbers. The Silent Shame. The False Student. The Fool’s Apostate. Hammerstrike.

Specific combinations of Confessions can be brought to the Visitors if you have a certain Companion. These Confession combinations can then be used to upgrade that Companion to a new, Hallowmas version.

Confessions

Confessions abound at Hallowmas, if one knows where to stand when the eaves are dropped.

Confessions will be released for free during the Festival, and also available to buy for Fate. You will receive a maximum of 14 free Confessions (some in week one, and more in week two).

There are six types of Confession in total, though not all will be available until the second week of the festival. Confessions can be unlocked on the Streets of London: Hallowmas 1898 card, and traded with other players to achieve the combination you desire.

In order to make a trade with someone else in Fallen London, you will need to add them as an acquaintance, either by visiting their profile page and clicking ‘add contact’ or by typing in their character name during the trade. See the trading thread here, to find people to trade with.

The Spirit of Hallowmas

A certain festival joie de vivre. A spring in the Hallowmas’ celebrants step.

Throughout the festival, look for a card in the Opportunity Deck called The Fool’s Judgement. This will allow you to convert Scandal, Suspicion or Nightmares into Spirit of Hallowmas.

At the end of the festival, you’ll be visited by a special character who will provide rewards dependent on the level of your Spirit of Hallowmas. The nature of this character will depend on the Menace you’ve most frequently converted.

Destinies

At Hallowmas, you may catch a glimpse of your destiny.

The Feast of Masks, when opposites meet at midnight! This is the season of unexpected guests… who carry terrible glimpses of possible futures.
Acquire a destiny, or change yours for a new one. This can only be done at certain times of the year, so take advantage of the chance! Begin with Attract a Visitor at Hallowmas.

Your Presence is Awaited

This year, London’s Feast of Masks will take place from 26th October until the 6th of November.

You will be able to glimpse your Destiny from today (the 26th of October).

After the festival closes on the 6th, you’ll be able to turn in confessions and claim rewards until the 13th.

We hope you enjoy the revels!

Looks like you can upgrade the Honey-Mazed Bear to wear a top hat. Count me in!

So judging by the masks, this is basically last year’s Hallowmas revisited, only with new companions to upgrade? Or are there some changes to the framework to be aware of?

Am I understanding correctly that smiling demon raises scandal, the four-eyed moth suspicion, and the triple crown nightmares? The masks all look exquisite but I’m a very practical person.

Oh grud, the game is slowing down so much at this time of writing.

The triple crown is suspicion, and the four eyed moth is nightmares. Other than that, yes.

Would anyone be interested in Confessions of Guile or Impropriety? I urgently need two Confessions of Curiosity for top hatted bear and Countess related reasons.

Should I obtain all the confessions now? I mean, would any remaining chances be reset at Oct 30?

Also, does anyone know if SOH rewards are different from last year? I haven’t seen it explicitly stated anywhere and I don’t want a double affiliation.

Oh, and in the spirit of giving here’s the Countess for anyone interested. She seems a little disorientated by the world not bending to her will.

When I go to turn in my Nightmares, it says &quotPursuing the same Menace that you did in a past Hallowmas will reward you with a valuable item instead of a unique reward.&quot
When I go to turn in my Nightmares, it says &quotPursuing the same Menace that you did in a past Hallowmas will reward you with a valuable item instead of a unique reward.&quot
That rather makes it sound as though this format is going to be repeated past just this year.

I kind of got that feeling last year, that the format shift was to make it more sustainable. The previous format, where we learned deep secrets about several important NPC’s, was awesome but I also understand it’s a lot of new content to write every year on an inflexible deadline. The dev commentary about Whitsun mentioned similar things, about being able to retain more content year-over-year.

While I miss the deep secrets, I am deeply appreciative that they brought back my favorite part of my first Hallowmas: unique art for the new companions which is a slight revision of art of the previous companion. Most importantly, sometimes the revision is sticking a silly hat on it! I have the fanciest bear.

Also FYI because I skipped over it the first time I was perusing the Compansions: One of the companions can be a railway board member. Based on its name, I’m expecting low opposition to most of my votes.

When I go to turn in my Nightmares, it says &quotPursuing the same Menace that you did in a past Hallowmas will reward you with a valuable item instead of a unique reward.&quot
Thanks!

Where did you find this Fate option, if I’m interpreting this properly?

Where are you seeing this option? I’m only finding options to get former years’ Companions for Fate.

You can find both the Bear and the Countess under the The Streets of London; Hallowmas 1898 pinned storylet. The Countess is the last option for me. As for the bear, you have to select Seek out the Attendants.

Need a confession of pride. Willing to give a confession of guile.

When I go to turn in my Nightmares, it says &quotPursuing the same Menace that you did in a past Hallowmas will reward you with a valuable item instead of a unique reward.&quot
And is there a list of the rewards from last year? I find myself unable to remember which mask(s) I wore and what reward I received.
And is there a list of the rewards from last year? I find myself unable to remember which mask(s) I wore and what reward I received.
Check your Affiliations. It’s a seat for scandal, the order for nightmares, and the crew for suspicion.
