I have a Confession of Curiousity, will anyone give me a Confession of Violence for it?
There is a separate thread for exchanges, it will help you more! Also, you might need to put your profile in your signature for that.
I would also like to know how much progress/clues you need to get the ‘ultimate’ Rosers ending. Is it three clues? 6 progress? All of the above? The soul of my firstborn?

It shall most definitely require the soul. The devils shall give you Confessions for it that you can turn in for Clues and Progress!
So… the optimal companion play here seems to be Scuttering Scoundrels and Very Lenient Judge, which adds up to 10 in every attribute. If I’ve understood right, it should be possible to get both of these plus the Mayoral weapon with no fate, right?
weapon will cost you 10 confessions, scoundrels 3, judge 2.
You should get 12 ‘normally’ and another 5 from the code. So you should have enough. But you might not have the right combination.
The judge I’m not so sure about, as … well, Overgoat and Ubergoat are considerably better, but there’s not really any companions better than +10 in the other stats.

Would that be the option to "Ask what the Mayor is up to"? Because that option clearly has a requirement: "You need Contrarian’s Favour 10". And with Contrarian’s Favour being a currency of sorts, it certainly indicates to me that asking the man what he’s up to has a cost.
But I’m sure I’d be grumpy too if I had done the same. And I’d thank you for the warning. But I think I already read something about that option in an earlier post.

I clicked on it. I expected a cost. I wasn’t expecting to pay 10 favour for an extraordinary implication and a half-answer.

Lenient judge is for the Persuasion, which is lacking on the Scoundrels. Watchful is indeed redundant if you have a goat, but it’s on both of the Scuttering options, and anyway many of us have not yet acquired a caprine companion.

If you’re feeling flush, I guess you could go for a Scuttering Palace Guard too? :)
Bu when you get to that point, you get one Minister ‘cheap’ - at the time, I picked persuasive because I had a scuttering squad.
So I gather none of the companions are best-in-slot, and they’re all rather useless if you have all the tiger ministers already? Other than perhaps the Scuttering ones which are better for combined challenges, or perhaps things like social duels.
That’s actually nice, since I can now focus on what I want for collection reasons and not worry about missing out mechanically.

Well, there are best-in-slot companions here, but none of them raise the maximum. So if you previously had BiS for everything, they’re not of much use to you. Conversely, since I had no BiS companions previously and now have them for every attribute, I won’t really get any use out of the ministers, or a number of Renown 40 items (especially after I get the Contrarian’s lessons).

Strictly speaking, having at least Minister is necessary for the highest epa grind in the game, so you could still see some practical use from that. But you’d be right to say that they wouldn’t increase any of your stats higher than your current companions do.
Okay, second day running and I can’t see how to collect my further confessions other than the 3 from day one and the 5 from the code. Where should I be looking to collect my daily confessions and are there any specific requirements to unlock the story?
Edit: never mind, I was being stupid. Got my backlog of confessions collected now.

Yes, your post did mention how you felt "a little bit robbed". It was certainly adequate warning, in case I had felt curious enough. So thank you for that, and for sharing your journal entry.
On the main Hallowmas branch the option to buy last year’s mayoral weapon is now available. It costs 40 Fate.
Thanks! I might have missed that it had been added and I have been wanting that fancy lance since last year!
Okay, so, funny story.
I ended up opening the Gate of Midnight…but I forgot that I already had Authority from Last Neathmas, so now I can’t get rid of the storylet and the Confession Collection storylet won’t show up.
If you’re seeing "Hallowmas 1896: An Envoy from the Elder Continent" storylet again, you were affected by the bug that occurred in the second day. Don’t worry, just play through the introductory story again and the storylet for collecting confessions should show up. You should still have any confession, progress, clues, and so on that you have obtained before the bug.
Maybe this has been mentioned, but if you want Maniac Prayers, Open a window to the night air under Attract a Visitor at Hallowmas nets you average 5-6 Prayers per action, while cycling the Airs of London.
