I think it would be nice if opportunity cards had some sort of visual aspect that displayed their rarity, especially considering how many cards share the same icon as is. Using stars as a rarity system is a cliche at this point, but something along those lines to immediately determine the cards rarity without having to hover over the image and wait for the description would save a lot of people the misery of accidentally discarded a card they have been waiting for.
In the past I have frequently mistaken and discarded the rare and useful "A dusty bookshop" thinking it was infinitely more common "The Tower of Sleeping Giants: The Secrets of the Rooms above a Bookshop"
Mood cards really should be undiscardable. There’s no plausible reason why anyone would not want to use it, so the option to discard it only gets used mistakenly or by accident. I discarded my first mood card when I clicked discard again on a different card after my web browser lagged. edited by Harlocke on 5/27/2016

Just a few days ago I was thinking about the card and storylet borders (gold, silver, bronze, red, ‘normal’). Back in the day they probably made sense (remember when they storylets were colored entirely?), but I wonder if these days even the developers still know what gets what kind of border and why. I certainly have no idea why card x gets a bronze border and card y doesn’t. Red borders are the only ones that remain quite clear.

Most of the time, they would be just a waste of action. I don’t need the stats for anything anymore (until it becomes possible to get scholar of correspondence 22), and the extra success chance (or extra spoils from some storylets) is so small it doesn’t pay off.
So it appears “individual of mysterious and indistinct gender” has been changed to just “person”. My two cents: I see why the change was made–to make nonbinaryness seem less exotic in and of itself–but at the same time, “person” is less formal than “lady” or “gentleman”. So in a way it feels like the pendulum has swung in the other direction. I don’t have a good suggestion for an alternative, of course, but maybe someone else will?
Also, has there been any official communication on this change? I can’t seem to find any on the blog, but it seems to have literally just happened within the last few minutes so maybe I’m just jumping the gun here.
It’s been like that for a few days, though I agree about the formalness of ‘person’ - I think just the plain ‘individual’ would be fine, with the Victorian tone.[li]
I support Rupho on the matter. ‘Person’ does not exude the deliciously elongated Victorian charm Fallen London is known for. At the very least I demand it become ‘personage’, or return to it’s rightful and proper for as ‘individual of mysterious and indistinct gender’.
I would like to complain about the inconvenience the price tag has bought again - the lack of results on spending and the lack of display on what I currently have.
Would Failbetter Games consider making Exceptional Stories re-playable to those who have already purchased them with subscriptions? I’ve been itching to re-visit Flint for some time now, which is above and beyond some of the best writing the game has featured so far. Other fate-locked stories in the game are either re-playable (like Flute Street), or have long-term benefits for having played them. Also, when I consider other interactive fiction games that I’ve purchased, like the offerings by Inkle, Choice of Games, or even Sunless Sea, I’m able to play those many times over and explore every last bit of delicious content.
It feels a bit unfair that I’m being asked to pay what is, for me, an often large sum of money to enjoy content I’ve already played through. The cost of re-starting Flint right now is roughly $25 US dollars, quite high for what amounts to the word count of a short story. I understand that Fallen London stays afloat through it’s Fate purchases, and I’m quite happy to support the company that way, especially considering most of the game is free. But I feel like people don’t want to play games or read stories only once. Often they do, but having the freedom to go back and experience it in a new way is important, especially for a narrative with branching paths.

Many (most? all?) ES have mechanical benefits too. Stat adjustments, valuable items, etc. If you could replay them endlessly for free people could exploit them for resources.
It’s not quite as good as what you’re asking, but people on the forums record and exchange journal records of ES. So you can read all the text of every branch without having to play through it again.
Hi, there is a story in the starting Shadowy portion that is bugged. You can pay 100 Moon-pearls to access the Courier (and another 100 when you try to steal message), but you can also just pick the Alley of Spite to bypass the first cost.

A salient point, although I think the way resetting an Exceptional Story works right now is that they delete all of your story-related items and Qualities when you start over. So I would think implementing a free process for that would not be overly difficult (a storylet in your lodgings perhaps?).
That wouldn’t solve the issue with non-story-related rewards, e.g. Elemental Secrets and so on. And requiring players to commit to a decision can increase the story impact.
Mind you, it’s sort of odd/unpleasant that you can ignore these design constraints if you’re wealthy enough in real life, but that ship sailed a long time ago.
I’m not sure what I’m about to do is in the right place but here it goes anyway.
To start, I want to say that I love everything about the game; the world, the storys, the characters, the gameplay and the presentation but I do feel that some things are missing.
Backgroung Music is one of them. Would you consider implementing the Fallen London OST from in the Browser version? I seriously think I would improve the overhaul experience.
I also have a bit of difficulty making friends inside Fallen London, not that the option isn’t there but they never seem to be active and I can barely interact with them. But that I think I can fix since I just discovered this Forum.
Lastely I would just like to know if you will at any point in time make a Fallen London App for Android.
Anyway, I hope you guys keep doing what you’re doing.
Thanks for Reading. edited by Dracyen on 6/13/2016
