Flint is an exception, of course. From what I heard, 120 Fate is the current purchase price for those who weren’t subscribed at the time? But resetting it also costs 120 Fate! That’s a bit stiff, I think the first replay option should be available for 45 Fate (the purchase price for regular ES).
Something else: Please consider providing a short conclusion to the Affluent Photographer story that removes all related cards from our deck!
You must be aware by now how little love this particular story gets from the community, so I daresay this would be a popular move… edited by phryne on 6/13/2016

In defense of the Affluent Photographer, I did very much like it from roleplaying perspective. It was fun to have a collaborative social action with a more substantial story than just the normal lodging options. It provided an outlet for roleplaying master or revolutionary sympathies, among other things. The only problem is that it stops being a useful grind once you get the outfits. It would be nice if it provided a decent reward permanently, maybe through an option that unlocks once you’re a POSI.
A better option would be to make the FL OST available for purchase and/or download, so that people who want the music can have it, and people who don’t want it don’t have to suffer loading lag.
There is a mailing list you can sign up for, to show interest in an Android App and to get updates when it eventually comes out: http://eepurl.com/bW4yd9
Flint, if I’m correct, offers the only way to drive Dangerous well pass the level cap and specialization (at great cost, of course) - someone hit into the 300’s, raw. Having that freely repeatable wouldn’t be fair (and never mind the Ratcatcher of doom with north of 1.50 EPA on using a Ratting piece). There’s also no way to reset that.
A nice thing for the boxful of intrigue grind would be an option that lets you spend 5 actions at once, similar to how you can use a gang of hoodlums to advance casing in very few clicks. This would save people time when they’re just trying to earn a bit of cash. A fast click option could also avoid presenting any way of switching allegiances, so people don’t have to worry about accidentally raising turncoat from a misclick.
The fast box grinding option would have to give the same benefits as the slower options. For example, if you’re opposing the masters it would still grant correspondence plaques.
Could there be a way to give titles to our works of fiction and literature? I see the ream of books Meradine has written, and would love them to have titles!
It does seem unfortunate that, having “bought” a story, I can only read it once unless I buy it again for full price (or close to it). It’s especially unfortunate when it’s a Choose Your Own Adventure story with multiple endings and branching paths.
I would love to replay some of the earlier stories, like the Wilting Dandy, Clay Comtessa, and other pre-POSI storylets, even if it cost a little fate to do so. A lot of those stories happened so long ago I barely remember them, and it would be nice to have another go (if you want) without needing to start a brand new character. edited by Harlocke on 6/17/2016
This may not be a big problem for many players but I find it bothering me a lot:
My issue with going to Zee is having to plan it around Time the Healer. I really would like to spend several weeks around the Unterzee at some point, making extensive visits to all the ports I’ve unlocked, but I don’t want to miss out on a single Payment or Professional Perk! Notability is another problem. There are solutions, of course, but I hate having to spend the actions for travelling to London just for a stopover. It’s so terribly unrealistic: "Oh yeah, I dropped by from Polythreme to collect my check and have a few suppers. I’ll be off again shortly. No, I don’t have anyone taking care of these things for me, even though I own a Townhouse and am considerably wealthy."
There should be a more elegant solution!
Let us promote one of our Companions to Personal Secretary and Legal Representative***. He/she/it would then take care of our affairs while we’re away, no matter how long. Meaning, they collect our Payments and keep our Notability on the level it was when we left. They automatically convert 4x Professional Perks to a Trade Secret.
Of course, this shouldn’t come cheap. But having a ship means we’re POSIs, right? We’re used to things being expensive by now. So, we’d have to officially register our secretary with a notary in the Bazaar Side-Streets (cost: 3x Bazaar Permits and 1x Comprehensive Bribe at least). Changing our Representive later is always an option but means more paperwork, so costs even more. In case we choose someone really unusual/scandalous (Drownie, Rubbery) more bribes are in order.
I don’t think this would be too difficult to implement mechanically: Time the Healer hits, you’re at Zee - having a Secretary overrides all the usual checks.
Of course, having a Personal Secretary wouldn’t just be useful for this example. They could be a real asset in a lot of stories! Also, this would finally give all of those beautiful companions an actual function beyond boosting stats or looking pretty on our profiles! :)
*** Simply everyone from the Alluring Accomplice, the Affable Spy or the Rubbery Associate to the Laconic Prodigy or Corresponding Ocelot. And especially the Blemmigan Secretary, of course!
If you’re away from London for weeks you’re probably not doing the things that earn you a professional income. If you could have a personal secretary do them for you, your employer would most likely hire the secretary in your place. :-)
And of course, a secretary would do nothing for your Making Waves, and probably wouldn’t help with Notability either.
PJ, I don’t see the advanced professions as 9-to-5 jobs or regular ‘work’. The public part seems to entail mostly the gathering of information and the trading of favours. A lot of that can be done by an established representative. Your name can be mentioned a lot even when you’re rarely seen yourself. ;)
I’ve only sketched out a suggestion. I’m quite sure the imaginative FB writers would come up with a decent backstory if they should choose to implement something of the like… edited by phryne on 6/18/2016
I think they did that on purpose because some of the ports are very profitable carousel - Port Carnelian in particular - and it is mostly the need to sail back to London for Professional Perks that balance them out against staying in London.
Maybe a profession aimed for zee-farer would be good. edited by Estelle Knoht on 6/19/2016
I am pretty sure it didn’t. That quality only comes from causing real permanent death, and Mr Inch didn’t (did you read the result text, or just assumed that it did what title of what you clicked on said?).
It wasn’t a quality I thought appropriate for the character, so I took advice and made sure not to kill anyone else quite dead apart from Feducci. edited by Jermaine Vendredi on 6/23/2016
Could the forum powers-that-be please change the css so that replies marked as best response (or something like that I think?) don’t result in the post background becoming a refreshing but entirely illegible mint colour?
Only Captain Vendrick and the Drowny (from whom you get your actual Black Ribbon) can be killed as part of the Black Ribbon activities. (And thus give a point of Bringer of Death).
You can’t really kill any other Black Ribbon opponent, even if you choose to fight to the death. Not even Feducci, and certainly not Mr Inch.
From the Drowny? Yes. You get the ribbon either by convincing her to give it to you, or by killing her (earning a Bringer of Death).
Later, Captain Vendrick confronts you. Seeing that you have the black ribbon in your possession, he concludes that you killed the Drowny (whether you did or not). If you choose to fight him, it’s to the death, and by killing him you get a second black ribbon and another point of Bringer of Death.
