I wonder if Loitering could be made more appealing to players. Perhaps one could gain Connected: Criminals (or even Favours, but that might make it a bit too overpowered, unless it’s a chance to get Favours) even as they lose Connected: Society, and perhaps there could be a 50/50 chance of either gaining or losing MW (Since ‘waves’ among the criminal element of society apply too, as the heist success texts suggest. Maybe one might lose the usual amount that other actions provide, but the gains provide twice as much, so that it averages out to be comparable to other social actions). It just seems odd that a social action should be so detrimental compared to its equivalents for other stats. edited by Sestina Valdis on 12/7/2015 edited by Sestina Valdis on 12/8/2015
I think removing the MW loss is enough to make Loitering more attractive to POSI’s. Making it a 50/50 chance like the bout and chess actions would make it even better. Adding favours might be a bit too OP since this makes the social action as a reliable grind, a thing that is against the spirit of the Criminal Favours.
At the moment, I think the quickest way to mitigate the MW drain is to quickly ask the other person for coffee as soon as they sent the loitering request.
I don’t know if this is feasible with the current code, but I’d really like the ability to flag qualities to be quickly referenceable, like the current option to flag storylets as Plans and view them in their own tab. I’ve spent way too much time wading through my qualities list to find things like MW and CtD, and it’d be really nice to have a tab or list just of the qualities I’m actively tracking.
Not super important, but I wish the journals had a “go to” button or something so that I don’t have to click and scroll and click and scroll through every page.
Just a fleeting idea while drinking coffee. What if we have Second Chances for luck challenges? Perhaps loaded devilbone dice would be a good name for it.
If it helps, open the relevant section and ‘ctrl +f’ to skip to the quality you want to find :)
Oh, sure – it’s just a convenience thing, I guess? It’d be nice to easily reference these things all in one section. (Also, I am terrible about remembering which quality type various qualities are sorted under and don’t want to sort through a lot of types…)
Could I kindly suggest to have Making Waves added to the sidebar? It is really tedious to have to switch out scrapbook qualities (particularly on a mobile device) for something which is frequently referenced!
For POSI, it is of obvious utility. But, surely it is handy even for non-POSI players as a reminder they could offer up their services at Dante’s Grill for profit.
Parelle, until MWs migrate onto the sidebar (which would be fantastic) an easier way to see your current level is to add the Amanuensis’ “I deserve a more emphatic type-face, at the very least” to your Plans. Much easier than going to the Myself tab or switching things on your mantle.
I had to update my credit card data because it had expired. Unfortunately, it appears there was no option to do so with my Account, and I had to cancel my Exceptional Friendship to do so. But then I could not re-register as an E.F. until the Friendship expired, which meant, in the bottom line, that I lost 20 actions because I only had one candle this morning. If there is an option to simply modify payment data, I was too much of a numbskull to see it, so it might behoove FBG to either create that option, or label it more clearly.
It’s kind of a shame there is no counter for minor works at the Empress’s Court. It would be useful for bragging rights, for those who grind insane amounts of pointless things, to have evidence, e.g., of how many symphonies they have composed. Surely at least one player would make it a goal to out-produce Leif Segerstam (291 and counting).
And for those of lesser ambition, it would be useful to see a count while one was, e.g., grinding symphonies for SotC.
I am sure there are deep structural reasons for this. But it is a constant minor vexation that “onwards” after a storylet sometimes means “go back to the list of storylets” and sometimes means “try again.”
I’m never a "grammar nazi" and this is definitely something that has always confused me. There have been some changes lately that have removed the ‘try again’ function from certain outlets that I have grinded where I use to be able to just click "Try this again".
A question regarding Exceptional Stories following Heart’s Blood: will it be possible to implement some sort of survey about what subject the exceptional stories ought to tackle next - maybe through another Enterprising Urchin card? I quite like the stories we’ve had so far, but being able to help decide what new content we’re likely to get a few months from now would be fantastic (and I’d like to pre-emptively throw my hat in to finally visiting the Masters’ summer homes beneath the city…) edited by IHNIWTR on 12/30/2015
There needs to be a Watchful + BDR item from the Incarnadine Fur Robe items. Perhaps a Partially Eaten Candle from a long abandoned room in the Bazaar that boosts Watchful and Dreaded.
I wonder if the BDR boosts for all the non-fatelocked PoSI items could be equalised (I’m looking at you, Affiliations!). Unless I’ve missed something, I don’t think there’s a good reason why they should not be. (Especially the Gang of Hoodlums which gives only +2 Dreaded, and the newspaper which gives no BDR at all…) This would make other PoSI equipment choices more ideal for RP purposes, I suppose. I’m stuck with switching to God’s Editors frequently, even though it certainly does NOT fit my character at all. (Ditto Ratwork Velocipede and Bifurcated Owl, but that I understand, since they’re fate-locked.)
It seems a little silly that God’s Editors, which IMO is one of the easiest Affiliations to get, should give 4 BDR, while a Salon, which I find much harder to get, only gives 3… A newspaper wasn’t quite so simple to get running either. =/
(Heh, increase them all to +4 BDR if possible. =P)
The ships are another matter altogether, I suppose, but what about those too? (This coming from the owner of a yacht, if that matters.) edited by Sestina Valdis on 1/4/2016 edited by Sestina Valdis on 1/4/2016
The description for “Copy of your Allegorical Satire” reads “Windbags and and popinjays…”. Clearly this is an enormous problem that threatens to destroy everything we hold dear.
Well, FBG did have a dedicated typo email but I can’t seem to find it. Maybe send it in to the Feedback email listed on the first post? feedback@failbettergames.com
