If the reward was an Ubergoat made of cider, I’d do it! But for a “vanity quality”? Nah.
Good to know, I’ll keep it in mind. Thanks!
AFAIK Scathless is intermediate step to get Unscarred by Law.
Due to PTSD from what happened with that previous Urchin ‘treasure hunt’, I will not skip the new content.
This is what I will do, hunt laws until my Scandal and Nightmare are around 7. Then lecture at Forgotten Quarter until my Suspicion is also around 7.
Equip a menace-reducing item if you want to be careful and precise.
My wounds is at 3.
Next, I will speak with Milton (the new content). Get the item and the vanity.
That is one looong shortcut. (And you still need Wounds. Twice.)
Hope I’m not missing out on all the text by taking the easy routes!
You will miss the vanity quality. The item you will still get.
Check the wiki.
Good to know! I’m not too fussed about vanity qualities, I don’t have the patience to get any of them, lol. (It took me a year and two rounds to get that low-level Shifting Streets one.)
Accidentally went mad a second time before doing the Cheat Death, and then accidentally clicked onwards after saving myself from Nightmares, so had to go through the Tomb Colonies, but managed to skip New Newgate (again again) at least. So finally managed it! This one was a toughie!
It’s not so bad. Just use Hallowmas guide on how to get menaces efficiently. And you need an alt to skip visiting menace zones. It took less than 30 actions for me (I wasted two cups of coffee from my emergency stash because I was impatient).
Got the vanity, it took most of a day but I would have just been grinding in the event anyways so meh. You can power your way out of the Tomb-Colonies with favors, and prison with Spyglass Knives.
I’m not sure we’re on pace to hit Combustion by the time gate. I think we’ll be unlocking the next chapter later, possibly even tomorrow.
I didn’t even know the engine was capable of checking for that…
I’m finally back in London. Time to forge some laws and get that reward I worked so hard for.
I’ll need to clear my criminal record at some point after this Estival too…
For those who are fully caught up on all things Estival: We’re going to extend the current time-lock until noon tomorrow. There has been a high level of enthusiasm for diving headfirst into a law furnace, so we want to make sure more players have the chance to deal with the consequences of that. In the meantime, there are still plenty of laws to be forged in order to eventually progress!
Speaking of which: both the Law Forging and Law Hunting activities will return when Estival eventually closes! (Although it’s safest to assume that any equipment that can be unlocked is exclusive to the event.)
Remember that when the event reaches its finale, it is not the end – players will still have at least a full week to begin the story, and at least a further two weeks to play it through.
I assume this does’t include stuff like The Book of All Hours which has disappeared before I had the time to really look into it :(
Yay! I really like both of those, especially the flavor text.
I wonder how much the rewards will be changed, if at all.
Cause right now they’re awfully generous seems to me.
I was surprised by being cut out of it (on a secondary character, but nonetheless) without the chance to see anything but the epilogue. I think the writing was good and the glimpses painted a great picture. It’s a shame, that some people just didn’t get to experience it.
I pride myself as a law-abiding ‘never been in prison’ citizen of Neath.
Is there a way to remove the criminal record?
Indeed, Nightmares menace zone can also be skipped using the excellent guide posted above (i.e. if you use an alt efficiently), for those still wondering.
I’m glad the timegate has been moved, it gives us a little extra breathing room, which is great.
As for Law-Hunting and Law-Forging returning, I’m super excited , both of the activities resonate strongly with me and feel very fun and thoroughly FL. Good news all around there!
As for the Book of All Hours, there’s a great lot of players who echo everything they do (like myself), so although you may not really be able to experience it first-hand, at least you can read the writing if you dig about a bit. If anyone’s interested, my echoes of Ephemeroptera start here, Isoptera follows from here, and Cydnidae can be found here.
The writing and the entire concept of this Estival have been nothing but superb, and once again we were taken on a literary, philosophical and lexicographical ride which cements FL as the game with the best and most artistic writing out there. And that even before we’ve even seen the climax!
Thank you for all of this, dear FBG team! ![]()
You mean “never been caught”.
You can, at the cost of special dispensations. It wouldn’t even be the first time I do it, honestly.
