.. I actually got it to 8 right now .. is it maybe connected to nightmares, because I raised mine over 5 on the first (failed) attempt & since then nothing happened?!
edit: wrong idea. but it is possible to go higher that 7 nevertheless.

No, I don’t think it’s locked you out of anything. I assume it must be the RNG, or maybe there’s some other factor to it we haven’t figured out yet. maybe give it a rest for a little bit and try again later?

If The Kings’ Song is really just ruled by RNG and nothing else, I’m probably going to ignore it from now on.
I didn’t want to believe it since usually during Estival everything is a riddle that can be solved by players. It’s unusual for something to just be completely random AND come with a massive menace hit to boot. If that’s what it is, it’s a waste of time and I’ll rather go back forging Laws. Really liking the payout there, so nice to be able to stockpile Whirring Contraptions for my newspaper!

I have completely different options that don’t sound like aiding the Bishop, so there must be some sort of quality tie in. I have “Raise practical concerns” and “Try to crush the man’s hope”. Maybe I’m closer allies to Hell than I realized.

Kinda useful I would say. Since it requires KS 7, I think you can play it only once for 6 echoes and a small nightmare reduction. Then you have to gamble for reaching KS 7 again.
It’s not useful, you have to spend a ton of actions and constantly fight Nightmares to get it back to 7. And there are currently way better things to do in terms of EPA. (e.g. Furnace in the basement)
