It is my hope and maybe my only inspiration for this place that the betrayers never get North. I will stand vigilant to not let it happen.
Alexis, if you read this, consider me Sanson and them the philistines. If you give me some hair and a temple above them, consider them crushed. edited by Devoted_pupa on 5/29/2013
How do you know he has the Waxwail? Dd he tell you? Cause he may be unavailable to steal because he himself was stolen. And why keep stealing if you already have the knife?
The requirements for ‘Bring a victim to you in a dream’ are no Waxwail Knife and no St Cerise’s Candle, so he can’t have either of these.
He could’ve already exchanged his Waxwail for 77 tokens. Perhaps there’s some other requirement to gain St Cerise’s Candle beyond the tokens, or he might just be hanging around to loot prize tokens to replace his knife.
Edit: … which, judging from his journal, is the case. He gained St Arthur’s Candle on the 27th, St Beau’s on the 28th, turned in a Waxwail Knife for 77 tokens yesterday, and then today, gained another Waxwail Knife. edited by Hamete on 5/29/2013
Everyone took my prize tokens the old fashioned way, with repeated stabbings. You know, I really can’t bring myself to care about K&C, even when it’s pretty much the only thing to occupy myself with. I’m just not a pvp person. I hope there’s another route to this candle eventually.
Does anyone know how Dolan is actually managing to hide so successfully? The best I’m able to do is hide out at zee, but that resets my form which makes stabbing much more difficult.
I managed to betray Zmflavius. Only got 1 prize token out of it, but it’s the principle of the thing. Now I need more Enigmas. Blast.

Dolan could be hiding out in Flute Street, perhaps. Also reporting a betrayal by someone known as curious_fellow edited by Allanon Kisigar on 6/3/2013
Am I right in suspecting the betrayer list is becoming too large to be manageable? It seems a searing enigma is a bit too expensive to just be throwing around to punish someone unless they just stole your prize tokens and you want to get them back.
I don’t really think so Uniden. Zmflavius is the only one that seems to be leaving himself open to attack, and he’s already been attacked a good deal more than he has attacked any of us, so you don’t really need to focus your enigmas on him. If anyone else pops up though, an enigma will probably net you a lot of tokens.
My expectation is that some of the future steps will require betrayal of other seekers or otherwise set seekers against each other. That’s why it’s important to keep track now, as it lets us know who has willingly decided to paint a target on their back.
The first and third candle had a theme of ‘betrayal’, where the second’s theme was more ‘loss’. I will be curious to see if that is a deliberate pattern and the fifth candle will again require betrayal of other players or just coincidence (after all, there were elements of loss and sacrifice in the first and third candles as well).
The betraying storylet does say matters will continue to deteriorate, after all. Can’t imagine much co-operation being involved in later steps with a message like that.
I’m convinced there’ll be a candle that will require "giving up" (well, slaughtering, really) pets. That would fit both the themes of betrayal and loss. Just imagine: it could require an Overgoat sacrifice, or the sacrifice of every pet in your inventory, or of every pet available for sale…
