Amethyst feedback

When exactly does the Autosave fire off? I closed out because I thought the game had saved when I docked, came back later, I don’t have the poissonier any more >_<

It autosaves when you first dock with a port. To have saved the Poissonier, you would have had to undock and then dock again.

Yeah, I’d gone back and docked at London. Several times, actually (I was farming the pirates).

EDIT: for some reason &quotcontinue&quot wasn’t loading the autosave but the most recent alternate hard save instead. Oddly, both it and the autosave kept the invictus token.[li]

That said, if someone wants to PM me the way to unlock the genial magician’s storyline I’m all ears. Thanks!
So I grabbed the game from Steam this time and updated to the latest content. I got a quick summary of the changes which included a warning to make sure I was updated to 1.4.something. But the version I have from Steam is 1.4.1256 which is older than the version I was warned to make sure I have.

I’ve tried updating to the latest content again but it’s still the same. Is latest version available from Steam or will it take a bit longer to show up there or something like that?
It’s a little more complicated to update Steam, so we may not patch it before the EA release on Tuesday, with time so short. Sorry for the confusion!

Oh, and feedback on the combat system:

I like it overall. Like others have said it’s nice to play a game that isn’t too twitchy. I like how the evasion and light mechanics carry over some of the broadside-and-maneuver feel of ship-to-ship combat in things like the Aubrey/Maturin series and so forth – the idea that the battle is as much about getting in position for your shot as actually shooting, etc.

That said, I wish there were a little bit more sense of tactics / terrain involved. Ideally a little minimap popup with a larger-scale version of the terrain (empty ocean/ coastline / illuminated spots), and situational commands, like &quotevade right&quot and &quotevade left&quot that could take you further into or out of illuminated territory, run you aground if you ran in the wrong direction, etc. I realize that’s probably not possible to implement but anything you could implement along those lines would be pretty cool. Maybe a button to lure the opponent near shore if fighting near a coastline, or a button for &quotFull steam ahead, and Battle of Mobile Bay - Wikipedia] Damn the Torpedoes&quot that steams straight towards the enemy, illuminating them brightly with headlights and dramatically reducing distance . . .

On a similar note it’d be nice if your momentum didn’t entirely stop when you enter combat. I want running battles! Heck, maybe shift my heading a bit depending on how many times I’d used the &quotEvade&quot button . . .

More general feedback:

I really wish there were a way to check exactly where the current strategic information mission was targeted.

I seem to have a S&C Long Box, but when I reached Depot A there were no stories there: no port reports, no surveillance, and no box deposition options. A new bug?

That happened to me once - I just circled the nearest light until I got a SAY message and when I docked the storylets were there again.

I’ll try that next time I’ll play. a bit low on fuel though…

Are you strong enough to hunt pirates in the Corsair’s Forest?

I’ve updated to 0.1.4.1274 and I’m still experiencing the all-choices-visible bug. Is this happening to anyone else? (I updated my game with the Check for New Content feature before I installed the new build, if it makes a difference…)

On a completely unrelated note, I’d like it if there was some way to get a reminder of where the Admiral’s asked you to retrieve Strategic Information from, because I have a commission but I have no recollection of where he wanted me to go and there appears to be no way to look it up. I’ll just have to keep going to different ports until I find the right one, I guess.

EDIT: I found it - it’s at the bottom of the Journal page. I tried scrolling with my scroll wheel, and it worked, even though that page doesn’t display a scrollbar. It probably should have a scrollbar.

CameoAppearance you need to Check for New Content AFTER installing the new build. I hope that will fix your problem

I’ve just come across a bug (and reported it) if I go over hold capacity, which can happen if you are hunting beasties, I cannot dump anything overboard.

Okay, question regarding the new difficulty settings… if I’ve got an Unforgiving game on the go, is there any way to play as another character without overwriting my save?

I got the steering disabled glitch while leaving London. What appears to have happened is that I mistruck the “exit port” key, accidentally hitting the R key instead. This didn’t cause my ship to begin repairing itself, but rather caused it to be unsteerable until I hit R again.

Oh, and the game now freezes whenever I enter combat, rendering it quite nearly unplayable.

The hold bug I mentioned earlier meant that I upgraded my ship as soon as possible. I am now running a lovely merchant vessel and having great fun hunting pirates for loot to fill all that hold space:)

I love the more subtle docking circles… although based on comments I’ve read they are a return to a feature I must have missed in the return to work from vacation madness. I also am absolutely wild about the newest iteration of the combat interface! It just looks so elegant… I paused several combats to ogle it with admiration yesterday.[li]

I have managed to be utterly (and literally) decimated by large circles of swirling bats… there seem to be about three giant flocks of them between FL and Venderbight. The first time I encountered them they swooped off with my entire crew leaving me bereft… Swooping is bad don’tcha know! My crew’s terror might have only gone up a little, but my player-ly terror and avoidance of flocks of bats behavior is phenomenal.

I also will need to get better at managing my fuel apparently… I managed to strand myself only inches away from Wolfstack Docks and if I had just turned off the blasted headlight I probably would have made it. Cheers! Guess my poor zailors will have to get used to the dark on occasion ;)

I am intrigued by the new vendor in FL, however the shops page in my UI now has an odd spacing issue where there is a large blank at the top, and the final vendor’s button is half-on, half-off the page. The text is therefore largely unreadable and if I didn’t know that’s where you buy new ships I wouldn’t be able to decipher it.

Just noticed this - with the gazeteer closed, hunger increases when docked. Bug or feature?

Sounds like a bug. Report it.

It’s not actually a bug. The game is paused when the gazetteer is open; if you’re allowing time to pass while docked, your sailors are still eating. But this isn’t the first time it’s confused people, so we’ll look at better signalling.

I’d have thought they’d go ashore to dine! I mean, I’m not suggesting they have a table booked at The Bridge Without, but I’d have suspected they’d find the food and company of the docks more congenial than sitting in the hold and going through my hardtack.

Maybe have a storylet giving your crew shore leave and maybe having trouble getting them all back before you leave port again.
