A Spire-Emporium (and other Lodgings)! Gadzooks!

I will say right now, if anyone steals my making waves they will be quickly and enthusiastically snubbed. (I certainly won’t be taking MW from anyone else.) I really hate that sort of nastiness.

Edit: After reading the description it does seem less vicious than I had thought. More of a trade than theft. But it’s still not something that would be polite to spring on someone without asking first.

I’m pretty sure you need to accept the action for it to be drained. And just one? Huh. Well, if it sets it to one then that isn’t really useful.

Edit: Note to self - people assume the worst when the word steal is used.

I do agree that it’d make sense for Notability to be less ephemeral… The Amanuensis goes on and on about how Making Waves are ephemeral and fading but Notability is more solid and permanent, then if anything it falls faster than Making Waves. Doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Depending on how many Enigmas you’ll get from a set of Incunabula at the university, it’s either stealing Journals in the flit or doing the fidgeting writer up to the 2nd to last step. Journals are better if the university gives you, I think, about 4 Enigmas per attempt.

My head is spinning with all the new possibilities and the grinds they seem to demand! Get Watchful to 200, then somehow push Notability up a few levels, then… Impossible Theorem? Then Notability up to a huge number??? I’m sure that will be actually possible once the new Schemes are in place, but as it stands… well, I’ll push for Watchful 200, and then as far as I can figure out, the next step is to lift up the town hall and jog to the moon with it on my back.

nods I’ve been thinking that about notability as well, after all the effort it takes to get any, it would be nice if it wasn’t so quick to vanish. It would make more sense in-world too.

The first step of the Fidgeting Writer story now gives Making Waves, and quite a lot of it. About 20 cp, I’d say.

Whoa! That is a huge discovery there. This is going to make getting Making Waves a whole lot easier.

Yeah, I was surprised too. I’m sure it’s a recent thing since it definitely didn’t do that yesterday.

Counting seconds until the nerf.

I know, right? But considering the ridiculous amounts of Notability we’ll be needing to amass I hope it sticks.

There is a new making waves option on the Heron Tower as well. Time to go on some expeditions and hope to get some Parabola Linen, I’m saving my scraps for the 3200 options.

Aw, now it’s been removed. No more MW bonus at all. I hope at least a nerfed version might be added back later.

Yipe, that’s an expensive one. Wonder how much MW you get.

The rooftop shack similarly gives a new Making Waves option—it requires connected: society 10, PoSI, the key to the shack, and 1x Favours in High Places. Some very interesting dialogue, too.

I jumped from 4-15 MW, for the record. Wasn’t counting the CP.

You can now auction off items for making waves on the Bazaar lodgings card!

Not making waves but you can now trade a collection of curiosities for 5 Puzzling maps on the Tomb Colonist card.

Lots of changes. I wonder what is going on.[li]

Christmas is coming! That’s what happens! As the bazaar said, The lacre channels are flowing and the growths are green.

My impression is that stealing and upconverting gets Enigmas faster, but Fidgeting Writer gives enough other stuff that your total ppa is greater. Hunter’s Keep has a comparable or better ppa to Fidgeting Writer, and the excess goods are in things that you can upconvert, but then you’re spending a good chunk of the time not in London.

Haven’t seen it mentioned yet, but there’s also an option on the Tower of Sparrows to bring the celebration back home.

Costs 2x Strangling Willow Absinthe, 1x Night on the Town, and requires 40 echoes. When I tried it I lost 9.43 but went from Making Waves 20 to 23 (At least 46 cp), and gained some Criminal, Docks, and Bohemian connections plus some scandal. I would’ve also gained confident smiles if had fewer than 20.

EDIT: Tried it again. You know, for science. Lost a Night on the Town and 8.88 echoes to raise Making Wave from 23 to 26(!), but it looks like the connection gains weren’t very large at all. Still, at least 26 actions worth of Making Waves for about 20 actions worth of stuff (or for practically free if you’ve been an Author) seems like a reasonable deal, but there’s always a chance I’ve just gotten lucky with the echoes.

DOUBLE EDIT: Oh dear, it’s taking me back to the card after I click onward. Tried it again just to see if it would actually fire and gained another three levels of Making Waves and won 9.90 echoes. I’ve got the option to do it another time, but this seems like a bug.
Not making waves but you can now trade a collection of curiosities for 5 Puzzling maps on the Tomb Colonist card.
So that’s basically getting x10 value from those Collections of Curiosities then? Good deal. I’ll just keep one to myself in case it turns out that the Tomb-Colonists know something that I don’t. Combined with the Urchins wanting Storm-Threnodies, I guess that I should start looking for Thieves’ caches (I could also use several more Ostentatious Diamonds, so there’s that too).

And according to the wikia, if I was a PoSI I could make decent money fighting off people who want to kill me.
