A Humbly Incomplete Guide To Notability

It’s an Op card you can only draw at your lodgings. It was useful early on to gain Personal Recommendations as well.

You can draw that Opportunity Card anywhere in London, but I haven’t been to a party in ages.

Hm, wait at minute, is that the card which gets you to a special zone where you party and dance with other people ?

The Polite Invitation card is available throughout London if you’re a POSI.

If you’re interested in a ~1.5 MW cp per action, simply side convert tier 3 items in a loop (50:51). 4 out of the 13 converstions in the loop give a random amount of MW.

Yeah, but I’m looking for a long-term cost-free solution here, and for that conversion I actually need some things to convert…
But I’ll keep that in mind, thanks for the hint.

You only need 50 of any 50p item to side convert. You don’t lose the item permanently (edit - as you get back to the start of the cycle eventually) and you get 51 of the next item so make a small profit.

That is cost-free, though it requires a small bit of startup capital. You seed it with 50 of a single type of item, and gain one 50p item every action and some MW every 3-ish actions. After 13 actions you’re back to your original 50 items, and have gained 1 of every T3 item plus a bunch of MW.

Oh, I didn’t know the cycle was endless. I thought you could just convert items to the next tier until at one point you reached the top tier item of the category, which you could not convert into anything.

The conversions up the chain work like you stated, but the lateral conversions go in a loop.

If you look at the options on any 50p item you will see that you can either up-convert to the next tier or side-convert to another 50p item. Very useful if you need something in a different category if you can’t find an easy source in game :)

Oh, I never really paid attention about all of that. Anyway, thank you master grinders.

One helpful tip that hasn’t been mentioned yet is that you can spend Making Waves to buy Nights on the Town, which can later be converted back into MW with the Tower of Sparrows (i.e. the Gambling Den housing) card. This can be used to &quotstore&quot MW while you’re not pursuing Notability (or waiting for the Amaneuesis to grant you level 1), when you have more than you need to gain a level, or when you’re close to Time, the Healer and you’re about to lose it, anyway.

Edit: Oops, looks like it was mentioned, I just didn’t ctrl-F for &quotnights&quot plural. Never mind. ;)

I’ve reached Notability 5 and become a Glassman, but am not yet at the stat-raising point. What other doors would grinding Notability further unlock?

Notability 9 will give you a 100% chance for a Surprise Package on the Unsigned Message.
You need significant amounts (up to 9 each) to get five-card lodgings the hard way, and less significant amounts (3 each) to get them at Christmas.
You can also spend large amounts of Notability (at least 7) on Favourable Circumstances, or on Knife-and-Candle Prize Tokens if you give up your Entry as well.
Finally, converting five Tears of the Bazaar to a M_____s’ B___d costs 7 Notability as well.

Thanks! Those numbers look a bit tedious, but they’re good to know. Any purpose for the MB besides bragging rights? I have a bottle already, somehow, so I’ve got that part covered.

Well if you want to update your Premises the hard way you need one to give up that vial. Among other things.

You can also trade that bottle of MB for something rarer, but the opportunity to do so does not come around often. The crimson book that you get for it has no uses at present, at least none that I’m aware of, so it’s just there so that you can brag that little bit louder.

(side note: I have both a bottle of blood AND a crimson book. Nah nah ne nah nah!)

See? It’s fun!

This thread is a bit too useful to have it hanging around on page 13 or so.

So to confirm - aside from arranging favourable circumstances, getting a 100% check on the surprise package, and upgrading to 5-card premises, there’s not much other reason to get more notability? Bragging rights aside, of course.

Getting 215 on your PoSI specialty stat and getting your Profession of choice.
