I believe another method people are fond of is doing this to make the spoilery text unreadable unless highlighted. Most forums without dedicated spoiler tags do that.
ANTAGONIST UPDATE PATCH DAY 2
If you’ve been in Day 2 for awhile, there should be a card waiting for you to update the way your Antagonists work.
(There is a small section of the population for whom this isn’t true – specifically people who ARE in Day 2 who do NOT yet have Antagonist: The Distant Watcher. For you, all this will happen when you pick up your next Antagonist. Otherwise, for now, enjoy a little while Antagonist-free.)
MENACES
Cards in Menace states now offer significantly greater Menace reduction. Net effect: Menace states will be ~50% less painful and take ~50% less time.
A new Menace has been introducted. WRATH is accumulated on the new Antagony card. When it reaches 5, terrible things will happen.
ANTAGONISTS
OTHER COMING CHANGES
We want to monitor the way Antagony is working first. You can expect the following changes in the coming weeks to balance Allies against Antagony and Wrath:
The Jackrabbits will be collapsed into one card. One option on the new card will be able to reduce your Wrath.
Other Allies will offer ways to meaningfully reduce your Menaces. The net effect will be to reduce the frequency of entering Menace states.
PLEASE DO LEAVE US FEEDBACK ABOUT THESE CHANGES. WE REALLY WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU FOLKS. Thanks!
Is there any kind of ETA on when the Style cards will be altered so that people who exceed the requirements don’t just draw blank cards? I’ve really just been working for the Pony Express and not drawing cards at all because it feels like a waste of actions to be drawing all these cards only to have to dismiss them.
It’s something we’ve thought about a lot: what do we do when you’ve capped your styles?
We don’t have a great answer right now. It’s not a high priority because
1.) Once your Styles are maxed, why would you want to root in the deck? and
2.) What’s there to give away?
Whatever we added would need to have a better conversion rate than 1 Action = 3 Reputation. Do you have any thoughts?
I’m liking the new antagonist set-up so far. I definitely prefer gaining menaces to losing styles.
Question, though- how is the wrath thing supposed to work? The description text seems to indicate to me that it should get harder as wrath gets higher, but it’s already at almost impossible and I don’t have any yet- at least I don’t think I do?
Glad you’re enjoying it! How high is your Wrath? Difficulty should start at 30% for 0 and go up 10% per level, to 70% at 4.
Err – success at 70% down to 30%.
I see the bug. Should scale properly now.
Also DANG tortoiseshellbat your art is fantastic. Thumbs up!
Oh man, Gordon’s so right! Mr. Rhino is the bestest, though for Zero Summer reasons, I must like the bats.
The new Antagony card is muuuch better. Prior to that I would simply go back to my room and clear my cards once I had two antagonist cards. I’ll play through this one.
I would like to suggest toning down the grindiness for the final version. Unlike a regular book, I can’t reread an interesting passage and the sheer length of time involved in progress tends to blunt my interest. How many times will those Mosquitoes get run out of town on the morning of my 2nd day? Quite a few so far. :)
I like this consolidation option, even if it does give a bit less personality to individual antagonists. Er…can we refund our battered dog whistles, though? I had a lot stockpiled. (Which also reminds me that Billy Brownson is losing that nice bit of gameplay-story integration. I have to admit I’m kind of sad to see that go.)
@memorysquid: glad you like it!
@Little The: we’re considering how to revise our Allies to interact with the new Antagony setup. You’ll probably see some interplay there. I’m not sure what we’ll do with Battered Dog Whistles. We’ll see. Thanks for reminding us!
Guys can someone give me a pointer as to where I can get the Key of Dreams? I’ve visited all the game locations and even maxed out my stats (33s / 34s) on grind cards to the point where there are no more storylets on the cards. My ‘Hallowed Ground’ is 30 and my ‘The Harvestmen’ is 29. Help?
Hey Edward! Thanks for writing! The Key of Dreams is how StoryNexus denotes content that isn’t released yet. But as always: check back soon! And do become our friend on Facebook for up-to-date content release info.
slaps head Doh! Thanks Gordon. Keep up the good work.
I just want to drop in and say “Well Done!” This is a really well-done game. The out-of-character guidance is thoughtful and useful, the story is polished, and I don’t feel as baffled all the time as I do in Fallen London itself. Keep up the good work!
Oh goodness! That’s incredibly sweet, @weregamer and @Edward! Thanks for playing. We couldn’t do this without excellent players like you.
As a side note: if you’ve got a few moments, we’d be very grateful if you’d drop by Rock, Paper, Shotgun’s article on Fallen London and comment with a good word about ZS. We’re hoping to drum up enough interest to get a review… which would, I think, require us releasing some celebratory content. :)
Aw, thanks! blush Actually on that note I’ve been meaning to ask- (possible very vague spoilers for the Harvestmen side story, as I don’t know if the character shows up otherwise)
-is Calo meant to be Japanese? I’ve been doing some doodles of her but I realized I don’t remember if she was described that way or I just assumed it because she was in Little Japan. She spoke some Japanese- but some Spanish, too. Calo’s not a particularly Japanese name, but then neither is Jack- I assume there’s some cultural mixing despite the apparent separation there. (I hope that’s going to be explored more in the future… )
