Discussion go here.
Reserving for upcoming release.
What’s your thinking behind starting these threads in advance rather than waiting for the content to be released?
On the bright side, the thumbs down button is finally getting some use.
I guess it’s nice to have a place to speculate before launch. I have Oneiric Pearls on my mind. No need to pull discussion away from the official announcement threads, though.
Do people really mind? It seems so petty.
At this point, this discussion is about preemptive placeholder threads. If anyone starts talking about Zeefarer, that would be thread-hijacking.
(Not to worry; as soon as it’s released someone from Failbetter will create a new thread like they always do, and this thread will no longer be needed)

The wording implies you vomit them when your Nightmares hit 8 while at zee.
Ok, I’m hijacking it now, try to stop me if you’re really this petty.

Shouldn’t that be "I’m zeejacking it now"?
Or maybe "I’m neathjacking it now"?
If it’s at zee, I think that’s just called piracy. Also, I should add that I’m not objecting to the practice of pre-posting threads - just wondering what the thinking behind it was!
I don’t understand it, and anything I don’t understand must be bad!
I wonder if piracy will remain a significant option for saving one’s soul. Relatedly, I hope my False-Star continues to provide a benefit while zailing.
My initial thoughts were along the same lines, that however Menaces work at Zee will lead to Pearls somehow. Other players seem to think that it’s your crew’s Nightmares that will generate Pearls, and in fact the smugleress from the surface indicates that it need not be yours. My new idea is that there will be more than one option for acquiring them, of which Menaces are one.
The announcement also mentioned that "certain events at zee that will be able to follow you ashore into London…" which raises the possibility of specific Nightmares (like Recurring Dreams) rather than the general Nightmares menace.
More like not your crew but some random zailors, who then sell them at some ports, possibly Irem, given it’s connection to Parabola. What Iremites will charge for them is anyone’s guess.
I started the thread so that people could speculate and swap information. If you’re averse to this, you can kiss a parabolan moon.

I distinctly remember navigation being quite vital when it comes to Zee-related checks so I’d assume being able to cast down light bright enough to briefly stun Mr. Fires would come in handy out in the open ocean. Personally I’m wondering how my Vake-steed will come into play, since apparently I’ve gone far south over the waves and around the roof several times.
I’m assuming it won’t like, just completely bypass needing a ship by flying from port to port but it’d be fun to have a scout that can also sabotage enemy vessels, hunt or even take you Zee-beast hunting.
Update is tomorrow, right? I sort of stuck in semi-timeless state, confuse days often.

How about "lowjacking it"?
Yes, the update should be tomorrow, unless there was some change.
And regarding scouting, wouldn’t a Violant-Winged Bat actually make more sense? After all, the Sunless Sea utilises scout bats, whereas a Scout-Curator seems like a dangerously unruly element.
Also, Nemesis players would be lucky to have as many uses for their toys as the Vake-Steed players, so that’s that.
Ooh, is this it?
If so, crap, I’m stuck out of London on an ES mission.
Edit: Yep, that was it. Gonna high-tail it back to town on the double.

Quick heads-up: to visit the Khanate you must get an invitation. It’s given from the undiscardable card that appears with Cabinet Noir 4, and yes, you’ll have to decipher it first.
Zeefarer has a funny increase mechanism: it’s cp based, but the cost is consumed in one go for entire level.
Means costs are: 1-3-6-10-15-21-28
At least it saves actions.
Just working through the document ate up all my actions, and apparently a secret identity is also required, and the destination to be worked out, with the game inexplicably treating me as a novice zailor. Seems it’ll be some time before I can actually push off to zee.
