I really like the RP of teaching the students. I went from teaching in Sinning Jenny’s school to teaching at the university. I’m slowly advancing my teaching career!
I’m disappointed that there is no use for Dr. Schlomo as a companion in Parabola. The timing was good, the subject is more than apt, and even a little commentary from the good doctor would be wonderful.
Imagine Freud exploring the unconscious not by interpretation but by putting on his pith helmet and getting muddy by the river where nightmares spawn.

Dr Schlomo, the Bear Grylls of Parabola.
There are (presumably because of the release of the next/last? part of the Light Fingers finale) two new experiments to undertake in the lab-- one of them is the Devilish Probability Distributor, which requires 450 Laboratory Research (I’m early in gathering that so I don’t know what the result of the work is).
The other is called a “Mirthless Compendium of Statistical Observations” and needs 125 Laboratory Research, and also a Meticulous Student. (Or you can pass off some fakery versions containing Parabolan Research, without the Student, but with the 125 Research.)
>>>Devilish Probability Distributor, which requires 450 Laboratory Research (I’m early in gathering that so I don’t know what the result of the work is).
Pretty sure its source for Devilbone dices for lab equipment upgrade.
UPDATE: its not about dices, but for lab equipment upgrade.

I’m in the process of making that one myself. I’m curious about what it gives you.

"Sometimes a glass full of yellow, warm cider is just a glass full of yellow, warm cider"
I mean, it’s Freud. He’d make it gross and awful somehow. We’re probably better off with him where he is, just being vague and mostly wrong.
So, they added another option to upgrade, substituting coins and dice for several researches.
Honestly, what a… reasonable, entertaining and fitting move. I like it better that way, thank you, Failbetter.
The only complaint is that it could be added sooner, but I took my time with previous stage.
So the devilish probability distributor is useless if I did that upgrade already? And how much is several researches? That sounds a lot easier in comparison, I don’t see the point of having the other option then except as a bait and switch for anyone getting there early. I like collecting stuff so I would really rather have kept those rare resources that took a considerable amount of time over the years to gather, but I spent them anyway because there was no alternative. I’m glad there’s a more reasonable alternative now but it should really have been there from the beginning.

How many Mirthless Compendiums do you get from one round of Lab Work?
One. Yes, it’s a grind. Still more merciful than 1000 FS Coins.
For access to ‘The Viric Jungle’ - is there any way to get what’s needed to unlock the route, outside of the Feast of Roses?
I took some pride in thinking (foolishly) I had done most content (aside from trying out every Profession etc), and was ready for a lot of this awesome new stuff.
Turns out the Viric shopkeeper was something I had missed totally.
I had done less of the events in recent years, as I had done most of what they seemed to offer in the past + more recent circumstance made Fate something I can’t really afford.
So yeah - any input on acquiring Shared Phantasies of the Bazaar, and Subject of a Trance Dream would be splendid?
(Or, if there will be other ways in soon - as it seems to be the only route locked by seasonal items…)
P.S. Still need the routes for Viric, and the The Side of a Dome to show though :D
Got the chessboard and waswood really quickly. AoP has been fickle.
FBG said via the Discord that the Viric Jungle will remain exclusive to the Phantasies, as that’s the area’s narrative focus. No word on whether the items will be obtainable another way or if Phantasies will return before the next Feast.
Oh great, thanks kindly
Does anyone here know what one needs to do, or to have, to see a Storm Bird?
Apologies if I’ve missed something, but how do I secure surface-blooms to make gunpowder? Preferably without forging artefacts?

Lots of new stuff so far, and some more teasing of future unlocks. I’m currently looking for the Storm Bird needed for one of the new research subjects, but I haven’t encountered it yet. The Dome of Scales and Viric Jungle are still locked with the requirement for it to be April 8 and I’m suspecting it is in there somewhere. Is this intended to still be locked?
For the Storm-Bird, you want to raise Nightmares to 8 while in Parabola to encounter it for the first time.
The Dome of Scales and Viric Jungle will be released, but the scale of the content means that the update is staggered - not everything will go live at once. It’s safe to expect them in the next few hours.
Somehow I missed the information about how to encounter the Storm Bird for the first time–thanks!
Currently the only source of flowers is selling Sculptress (appears at Respectable 0) your forged St. Fiacre’s relics. 6 flowers per deal, means 2 relics total.
Does anyone here know what one needs to do, or to have, to see a Storm Bird?
Nightmares 8 in Parabola.
Best is to get the other bird if you don’t have the +1 Nightmare companion and get the hat too. Even with 0 Nightmares, in London equip the 2 to get to level 3 and have an alt or someone betray your dreams to reach level 6. Be sure to unequip the items in London after you have the invitations.
In Parabola, with 6 Nightmares, equip the two items again. This will cost you a level of Glass and…Mithridacy (I think) and will get you a sight of the bird. This will "reduce" your nightmares to 6 too, but having the two items you can see the bird as many time as you want.
Good luck!
