Whitsun 2022 is here!
Which of the Sartorial Augmentation items available from Scarlet and Pelagic eggs do you reckon is the most useful mechanics-wise to someone who’s been around long enough to finish Ambition Nemesis and already has the Illegal Augmentation Device?

I’d bet Iguana-Skin Boots. BiS for Shapeling Arts, tied BiS for Neatproofed and BDR. But if you’re short on Mithridacy and BDR, try the Tuneful Hat.

A couple more days and I’ll have one of each type of creature that a player can hatch for himself. That means this year is the first one where I’m actually ahead of the hatching schedule and have extra days.
Not sure what to do. I’m a bit tempted to go for the egg exchange hatchlings, but they cast ha’pennies, and the benefits they confer hardly seem worth it compared to saving the event currency for possible future sartorial augments.
Do I just declare Whitsun finished and get back to business as usual? I guess I could smash some eggs, but the value seems dubious.

I’m not done hatching companions yet, but I will be in a few days.

I intend to spend the entire rest of the Festival cracking eggs to stock up on Segmented Ribcages. Their unique mechanics present certain opportunities, and they are currently otherwise unavailable. Considering that Obsidian Chitin Tails are also still not available anywhere else, I would prepare for the Segmented Ribcage remaining a festival exclusive as well.

Giving eggs to De Gustibus is an excellent source of Making Waves, if that matters to you at all. The option that gives you a lot of MW can’t be done while an egg is incubating

I think the answer is no, but can any companions gained be sold? I mixed by enlightening/invigorating and have a duplicate or two!

Nope. The equipment can be, for some reason. I would rather risk having a duplicate forever than risk accidentally losing one, though, so I’d rather not have a simple way to get rid of any of them.

Quick question: I’ve published a Whitsun Edition newspaper once, should I do it again? Does the type of newspaper you publish affect any outcomes? I see it as spending a lot of actions to get a chunk of Making Waves, not really worth the trouble in my opinion.

Side note: they really should fix the letter spacing in some of the items’ flavour text:

Am I right to understand that you can only feed him an egg twice, because of this?

I think it might be better to crack the eggs open and get items.

You also get items worth 75 echoes, making it marginally more efficient than regular Newspaper operation, which was briefly a top-end money-maker. There’s a rare success that gives Fragment of the Tragedy Procedures. This was interesting a few years ago because those items used to be exceptionally limited, but nowadays you can get them from run-of-the-mill Heists. And they’re not specifically useful.

You might want to fish for the rare success once, to see the different text.

You can feed them unaugmented eggs without increasing eggxhaution, though the return is much less.

Indeed, stocking up on Segmented Ribcages seems like a good way to spend the last few days of Whitsun for those of us who like the Bone Market. I’ll be doing the same with Obsidian Chitin Tails next time Percipient Eggs come around - I hoped they would become available elsewhere and didn’t get nearly enough to cover my skeleton-building needs last year. I don’t want to repeat the mistake with Segmented Ribcages.

So apparently my new kraken can provide me 12 EPA on a lodging card. That’s rather good.
So apparently my new kraken can provide me 12 EPA on a lodging card. That’s rather good.
There’s a bit of a range, but I’ve yet to see it offer 0 Kisses or 0 Stories so at an average it’s still 8.5 EPA (even with Player of Chess just shy of 14 the numbers are pretty good: PoC 13: 7.45 EPA; PoC 12: 6.4 EPA; PoC 11: 5.35 EPA). Time to say farewell to the Scrap/Cash option at the top, I suppose.

Indeed. I do have over 7k scrap stockpiled, so I guess that’ll do for now. Gives me plenty of leeway.

Sad, Whitsun 2022 is no more, I had just a few unaugmented and once-augmented critters unhatched.

Until next year… or the year after next.

I presume next year (2023) will be aged and percipient eggs that are free.

A minor peeve of mine: you can’t enlighten or invigorate eggs (for cracking?) once you’re committed to the 24-hour wait for hatching. Seems like they are the perfect things to do while you’re waiting for the next hatch. There’s only that much satisfaction from researching eggs in your lab or publishing a Whitsun newspaper.
I presume next year (2023) will be aged and percipient eggs that are free.
Hm. Well, maybe.
All the advanced skills (other than SotD) are covered now, so maybe that means they’ll stop adding new eggs. Then again, on the base skills we’re still missing the pairs of P+S and D+W. So if they wanted to cover all of those combinations, that’d be two more eggs. And they don’t necessarily have to stop there if they don’t want to. So far there’s always been exactly 2 egg types freely available at once, so assuming that continues and new eggs are still added, then the amount of benched egg types each year will continue to grow. I guess we’ll see.

An FBG staff member did confirm on discord that the intention right now is to alternate between Aged/Percipient and Scarlet/Pelagic.

Okay, that’s good to know.

It appears a promise for next Whitsun has been made. Only time will tell whether it was worth it.
