That thing is nightmare fuel.
It is not my cup of tea, but there is a crowd that wants more non-human(oid) spouses.
My alt is infatuated with the aborted Orient faction, so someone from there would be best. My main’s one and only love is The Last Constable, the one d__med honest being in the Neath.
Has no-one mentioned the Starving Poet yet? I have something of a crush on him. We have, ahem, spent a lot of time together, even if he does seem a little needy…
If not him though, the Last Constable. I think she was one of the first characters I met in Fallen London and I love her. I was delighted to meet her in Sunless Sea too (and if we allow Sunless Sea characters… Maybe’s Rival please!)
I think that could pose equal problems . . .
If you’re playing a certain type of character, ‘lover’ or ‘partner’ might not be appropriate . . . while ‘constant companion’ sounds very platonic. I’m wondering maybe it’s a "slash" could solve that issue, though? Like ‘spouse/partner’ or ‘spouse/companion’ . . . that way people can role-play the kind of relationship they want, allowing more options for that slot, and also meaning no one misses out mechanically speaking.
Maybe "Intimate Partner"? That indicates a relationship that is closer than a "petpanion", nullifies any biological gender limitation, but does not automatically imply marital status.
By the way, I believe a relationship with the Artist’s Model or Jewel Thief is deemed a ‘common law’ union (no legalities involved, just a storylet about the big party thrown to declare the relationship), unions with the Devout Intriguer or the Attache (male or female) are marital but not elaborate, and a union with a player character could have as elaborate a wedding as the players wish.
The Soft-Hearted Widow, all the way. My character may be without a soul, but the Soft-Hearted Widow invokes…good feelings from "DY". Very close to happy feelings.
She’d give the Widow an island of glim if the Widow wished for it.

Well, here are my personal favourites:
I don’t think there’s any NPC either of my characters would like to marry (even if both were not already married to others). I wanted my main to wed, first the Once-Dashing Smuggler, then the Revolutionary before I knew what they are really like. My favorite NPC is the Barbed Wit, but neither my main nor my alt are the sort of woman who wants to marry a woman.
I also really like Lettice, the Mercy, but only a fool (or another Tomb Colonist) would marry a Tomb Colonist, let alone a Tomb Colonist such as Lettice.
Whichever Judgement the Sun was attempting to woo.
She’s probably pretty hot, after all.

Just try to make sure there aren’t any black holes around, you don’t want to get sucked into them while you are…well, whatever you are doing with that star.
(I am so very sorry for this, but I simply cannot resist perfectly normal space black hole jokes).
The Sardonic Music Hall Singer or the Turkish Girl! Mostly the Sardonic Music Hall Singer… real goals. Or perhaps the soft-hearted widow! My character is a real schemer, but me? I’m just a big ball of love, aha! :)
Blemmigan Secretary, I just love Blemmigans so so much. I just love the lust for life that they have. Also maybe I could find out how it got in that box.
The Wistful Deviless from Sunless Sea. She seems so lonely up there, halfway up Mount Palmerston, and I have taken much more of a shine to her than any of the devils I met in London.
I don’t suppose devils marry mortals, though.

BARBED WIT! BARBED WIT! BARBED WIT!
…ahem.
Seriously though. Dream wife.
Ooh, if you get the Barbed Wit, I get dibs on Acclaimed Beauty XD
I shall take the Standard Bisexual Option and pick both!
…is polygamous marriage legal in the Neath?

I don’t know about now, but until a while ago you could get "Seen with" with someone even though you were married. But I guess that just makes having affairs possible.
I have to agree with everyone who said The Barbed Wit.
Now we have the new companions from the Feast to consider. Hmm, that Enigmatic Augur is looking mighty fine: handsome, mysterious, a touch of danger with that eyepatch, and I have a weakness for fortune-telling cards. Seems like he may be smitten with the player, too.
Agreed. I found him quite endearing in his single scene and my lonely character loved the attention, despite trying to act all cynical about it :P
