Im sorry I feel like I ask questions too much lol
My seeking alt has just got to the point where they can well, start seeking but, what do I do now? I did the option in the Forgotten Quarter, got a Bad End and have my seeking up to 3 now, i’ve looked up some guides but i’m still a bit confused, some seem to say I have to wait a week for cards but others say I can raise my seeking by other means too? What do I do?
You can advance faster if you use resources, as outlined in the I’m a Candle guide. Appalling Secrets, mostly. If you have a lot of them and high Watchful this is doable for quite a few levels.
You’ll come to the weekly point eventually though, unless you really want to spend a lot of resources. That one works best with a Starveling Cat and access to the Labyrinth of Tigers (1st Coil). In the Flit you go to the Cats and Bats storylet (must have advanced to that as well), pick cats and then the Starveling Cat. You’ll get 3 Unaccountably Peckish (UP) each time you use it. Use it three times - you could use it less at lower levels, but it’s not the best option.
Then you draw cards, and you can draw up to 9 different ones if you have 9 UP. Playing the Seeking option on them (the one that is available if you don’t have Marsh-Mired) will give you a point in SMEN up to (Value of the UP card + 1). While you could, hence, rack up less UP and use lower cards while your SMEN is still low, the 7 to 9 cards are really the most non-crippling ones. Once you have your point in SMEN, you can’t use this option for a week until Time, the healer takes Marsh-Mired from you. So when you’ve gotten your point, you go to the Labyrinth and get some refreshments, for -2 UP a go.
If you find yourself with a full hand of UP cards you don’t want to use, you can use the Labyrinth as well, until you have UP low enough for them to disappear, then use the Starveling cat again, etc.
You can do this up to SMEN 28, when you can go for gaining Mr Eaten’s Calling card for yourself, if you don’t have it already.
