So I just overcapped my watchful and got London’s Nerves!
What actions should I avoid to make sure it doesn’t drop? I haven’t paid attention before… Obviously no Nadir, stay away from orthographic inflection… Are there cards at zee or in the tomb colonies I should avoid? Anything else anyone can think of?
Watch out for the "Starvation Day" card if you end up in prison, as it damages all stats. I can’t think of anything outside of London you need to worry about.
Also, best to avoid Seeking, but that goes without saying.
Is there any point in Hallowmas upgared companions if i am not a collector? They are not best in slot and i have better fellows to boost my stats.
If last year is anything to go by, having all the upgraded companions will unlock a better version of the third option on the "One’s Public" card, but that’s not particularly important if you generally put on a fine show instead.
Some of them are BiS for particular BDR stats, the weasel is the only way to get Plagued by a Popular Song from equipment, and the bat’s -10 persuasive can be useful for precisely calibrating your stats.
For the first time in ages, I’ve paid some attention to my Seeking alt. He’s not very far advanced, and I seem to have forgotten most of what I once knew on the subject of Seeking. Am I correct in thinking that, at SMEN 5, the main way forward is drawing cards and grinding resources for later use?
Yes. It is possible to increase SMEN by spending resources (appalling secrets are the best). You also need high Watchful (modified 200) at some point.
Resources include:
Classic Short story (7 trade secrets)
14 Searing Enigmas (or 7 if somebody gift you Calling Card)
Lengthy Lease to Premises at the Bazaar (or lose all favours/renown/connections)
Decent BDR gear

uncanny Incunabulum can be made by upgrading extraordinary implications.
Okay, I am stuck for a looooooooong time. Not only do I not have the necessary amount of extraordinary implications, also I need Connected Benethic 6 - and I do not have even 1.

Oh dear - so perhaps next year or so.
In a pinch, you could buy the University Endowment and use that to raise your connections.
So, I indulged a few tigers a little too much while in Port Carnelian and have lost all my Imperial Legitimacy. I hastened back to the Foreign Office to regain it, and the carousel led me…nowhere. Do I actually need to spend fate to regain this?
Now that the Cheery Man has passed on, I’ve found myself with only one source of Tomb-Colonies favours–their faction card. I know there are a few card sources at low levels, but my stats are ~120 unmodified. I’m really not loving the prospect of having to draw this one card a couple hundred times to get the Frost-Moth. Are there any other sources I’m overlooking?
(I realize these renown levels are meant to be slow, but I have at the very least two usable cards for all the other factions. Tomb-Colonies just seems hopeless at the moment.)
Trips to the actual tomb colonies are also a option. A number of cards in the tomb colonies give favours, and of course getting there. Not particularly profitable, but doesn’t cost anything but time. There’s now three clothing items that give +1 scandal to help you get there.
That’s a good point, I’m not doing anything major at the moment, so I might pop off to the colonies a few times.
I’ve actually been considering buying the Finishing School, so I’ll shell out for that. I wasn’t sure what favours you could get from that–is it any kind? Constables is giving me a lot of trouble too.

Finishing School can give Tomb Colonies, Urchin, Church, Bohemian, Revolutionary, Docks, and Great Game Favours, plus Society if you’ve played The Frequently Deceased. In all cases, you have to complete a carousel and you have a 50% chance of getting a favour from the student you pick for the final examination. It also refills your deck when you return to London.
Shepherd of Souls (from A Trade in Souls) gives 3-5 of each of Constables, Society and Church favours (and a full menace wipe). Card-based but a lot of bang for your buck.
My seeking alt has just got to the point where they can well, start seeking but, what do I do now? I did the option in the Forgotten Quarter, got a Bad End and have my seeking up to 3 now, i’ve looked up some guides but i’m still a bit confused, some seem to say I have to wait a week for cards but others say I can raise my seeking by other means too? What do I do?
