Weekly Fallen London Questions, 27/07/2020

I have two quick questions about a new mechanic, namely, the new additional outfit slots.

The question is this: Suppose you are an Exceptional Friend. That gives you two additional outfit slots to use. Suppose at a future point you let your ES subscription lapse for several months, and later re-subscribe.

Question 1: You lose access to the 2 ES slot outfits, right?

Question 2: When you resubscribe, do your ES slots come back in the configuration you set up, or do you have to reconfigure them again?
Thanks to everyone who has responded.

Not really a question this forum can answer, as no one has had time to let their subscription lapse and then resubscribe.

I came back recently and opened the lab, parabola and the train station. What is the new best grind for echoes (or at least its name so that I can try to search the forum) ?

I think that guide should answer your question.

Question: I visited Arbour for a change of pace and started with 7 Time to Linger, instead of 5; is that the new default or is that because of something special I cannot remember?

Question 2: When you resubscribe, do your ES slots come back in the configuration you set up, or do you have to reconfigure them again?[/quote] I believe the semi-official response was Yes (you lose them) and Yes (you get them back as they were).

I’ve just found a wiki note that they have changed some stuff at arbor at 16/07. &quotInvestigating on the Near-Arbori&quot gives attar in stead of permission to linger, therefore you can’t stay in Arbor forever with the right preperations. Maybe they increased the Time to Linger from 5 to 7 in order to give the players something in return.

Anybody else having trouble logging into Fallen London?

I have for about an hour, both Firefox and Safari.

I use Google Chrome, and it doesn’t seem to just be limited to me. I guess their servers are having some issues, which doesn’t surprise me given all of the new contents and updates being added.

Yeah, been having problems these few days, specifically around 5.00pm GMT. GMT is real London’s time zone by the way.

I reckon it’s someone triggering the servers’ routines after a day’s work.

UPDATE: It happens at 5.00 am GMT too.

Has anyone else found that Society favours can now only be spent singly on the Amanuensis card?

I’m not sure what you mean by &quotsingly,&quot and I currently have no Society Favours to test with, but the storylet in the Shuttered Palace to use Society Favours is still there.

It used to be possible to boost Making Waves by spending all the society favours and topping off by letting the Amanuensis speak, at which point the card disappeared. I used that a lot when working towards PP. Now the card disappears after a single favour is spent.

I know the other ways to spend favours…

Has the frequency of the Devices and Desires card increased since the outfit changes? I seem to be drawing it a lot these days. (And getting a lot of Romantic Notions while avoiding the new story line.)

I checked that earlier because I had the same impression. It’s abundant.

AT least I’m not alone in my delusions, then. :)

Okay, thanks. I have not tried to use Society Favours on that card lately.

News to me - I did the same thing. Thanks.

I am aware that the Paramount Presence has been withdrawn from the game, but are the rest of the POSI specializations still in effect? I mean, if one is currently a Tier 2 Dangerous POSI, can one change that to Tier 2 something else?

The POSI specializations (and Paramount Presence) are still in the game. It’s just overcapping via Notability which has been removed, and replaced with stories that increase the stat caps.

There’s a special vanity quality for achieving Paramount Presence before they changed overcapping. You can’t get that anymore. But Paramount Presence itself is still achievable.
