Weekly Fallen London Questions, 16/07/2018

Yes, once you area POSI, but you do still need to keep turning cards and hope that the RNG gives you what you want.

It is definitely good to meet all the acquaintances as soon as possible; they are all a good source of favours and open options to deal with your wounds in your lodgings.

If I buy an ES with Fate, do I have to play it right away, or unlock it right away, or can I do all that later? I am still kicking myself for missing Flint when it was an ES so this #loveindies sale is a good opportunity! But again I don’t have time to play it this week.

If you’ve unlocked a story, it will be waiting for you. Forever. They’ll kind of pile up if you have a subscription and take your time actually playing through them. (definitely not speaking from experience)

I managed 200x4 without ever stat grinding, but it was before the making your name counters, I took a very leisurely view towards plot progression, and played mostly opportunity cards, so it’s not necessarily a recommended path of achievement

Right, that’s my experience too :) but do I also have to unlock it within a certain period of time, like the monthly ES?

As a latecomer, I’ve bought almost all the older ES stories to fill in the Neathy background, as it were. The purchase adds a storylet IIRC, which remains until you play it (can only remember The Gift at the moment, where it’s at your Lodgings).

Speaking from experience once you purchased them they stay there until you are done with them. The proof consists of the minimum 19 top pinned stories that I currently have (both ES unlock and purchases).

On a related topic, that is the monthly ES that you get from being an Exceptional Friend (as opposed to ones bought later with Fate). Let’s say you end your Exceptional Friendship. Can you still play the ESes that you have unlocked but not played yet or do you lose them? Do you need to play them through before cancelling, or can you still play them at your leisure?

As long as they’re unlocked, nothing can take them away other than completing them (short of FB manually editing your account or something), so you only need to be an EF on the day the story comes out and play the storylet to unlock it and then you’re golden. That’s why you can get three storylets with one month’s EF through careful timing.

Thanks, Dudebro. That’s good to know. Whether I decide to retain my EF status or not, I think it’s probably time I did something about my ESes. I have about ten of the damn things clogging up my page. :)

How do you guys do that? HOW?
I am always too fond of the lore; it is hard waiting for a few hours.

I’m not sure. It is something that afflicts me in general life, not just FL. I always put things off until an imaginary &quotmore convenient time&quot when I can really savour and appreciate them, and then never get around to it. It is the same reason I have umpteen DVDs and a season and a half of Westworld still to watch. :)

Well the. I used to think I was far behind when I had two full seasons sitting in my storylets, but Plynkes and Skinnyman have me beat.

What Plynkes said. And sometimes it pays off - I’ve been meaning to buy a bunch of stories including Flint, The Gift, etc. for maybe a year and a half by now, and if I hadn’t kept putting it off I’d have missed out on this excellent discount!
Of course now this means I have five extra universal storylets sitting at the top all the time, and just when I had almost cleaned out my previous backlog…

Exactly what Plynkes said; I played them during weekend or night when I wasn’t to torn from my job. Because of certain preparations that I must attend to, I decided to put a pause! The hoarder in mine wants those items back and season conclusions do provide them/some.

You should also try to buy the Lair in the Marshes for the Heron Tower card. If you have Death By Water you canuse the Pajamas and Peril option to get 1 Favour.

Has it ever been revealed what the Masters did to the Royal Family? Obviously, we all know what the outcome was, but what about the mechanism?

I have managed to accumulate 3200 Certifiable Scraps. Is there any particular reason for me to favor one of the items that the Relickers will give me for them over the others?

It was caused by a tainted batch of red honey.

But I believe that is about it, in case that would matter for you.

If you’re considering getting the Seven-Fold Knock, keep the scraps until you’re done.

One of the items can be acquired relatively cheaply in the Heart’s Desire Ambition and needs to be expended to proceed, which means it’s possible to use it with the other three items to get London’s Marrow - Treasures or reset the Ambition for Fate and keep it.
