Urchins: Favours/Renown

[quote=rahv7]Hi Parelle,

the Quirk changes for Renown 15+ have been updated in the wiki. It raises Daring and decreases Melancholy.

(You also have a typo in your post: &quotFilt&quot instead of &quotFlit&quot.)

You seem to have misread rahv7’s post. It’s called the Flit (f-l-i-t), parelle’s OP has it as &quotFilt&quot (f-i-l-t) in one point, and only one point. Linking is completely unhelpful and, as far as I can tell, an erroneous correction.

Where do I need to subscribe to get the echo when you did it? :)

(Twist: It’s an immensely profitable storylet and can be repeated forever and ever as long as you don’t accept the offer.)

You’ve gained renown - judgements! Your name is the merest spark of light to their roaring flames, but you have a presence, nonetheless.

Is there any particular way I can grind “What the thunder said”? I have raised my stormy eyed to near the required level to enter the mind of a Long dead god, but my counterpart dreams level is still too low.

Only opportunity cards, I’m afraid. Well, and the &quotDream&quot-option in the Nadir.

Ahh, I only saw the points where it was written correctly and though he meant that it was written as filt, sorry for the mistake :)

That is more unfortunate… It looks like this will take far far longer than I anticipated.

I’ve made the choice to Advise the Girl to return to the Widow. With 7 Favors I received 700 jade, Nightmares dropped from 4+ to to exactly 2, 1 Someone is coming, and 6 Identity Uncovered. So 7 to 10 CP of nightmares reduction and 22 echoes minus the cost of getting the urchin favors estimated at .75 echo per favor for an EPA of 2.09. So I probably should have saved the favors for the lightning bolt but i think I’m waiting for Fruits of the Zee or at least til I have docks 40 before I go to Mutton Island.

Note that you can also get Favours: Docks on Mutton Island. It isn’t fast and you cannot convert to Renown, but it’s a reliable source at 1 Favour per 24 actions.

Looks like Optimatum beat me to trying out refusal and posted to the wiki. Maybe when I go I’ll see if there’s any consequence for hitting 8 Wounds in the Mind…

It certainly looks hella profitable. Unless there’s another -1 CP Aeolian Scream option there. The wounds wouldn’t be too much of an issue (maybe go during christmas and reduce wounds via christmas cards).

If the wounds only become an issue after you leave, it’s possible that it would be net-profitable for cider holders as long as you use mostly autofire cards to raise WtTS. Pity the wiki doesn’t have CP for nightmares and dreams increases for most of those actions or I would do the math right now.

Looks like I lost a lot of money by not refusing until my Stormy-Eyed was down to 1. Ah, well.

I just did that with 5 Favours and added the info based on both results to the wiki. As usual, it’s apparently most profitable to do this with 5 Favours (between 1.5 and 2.7 EPA, depending on your investments to get the Favours)

My math might be completely off here, but doesn’t this mean that it’s more profitable to cash in with 7 Favours, and not 5? (after all, the rewards scale with the number of Favours, so you save actions by using more Favours at once).

Assuming gaining a Favour takes one action (and ignoring other costs for now, such as weasels), then:

  • 5 Favours: 13.5 echoes / 6 actions = 2.25 EPA[/li][li]7 Favours: 22 echoes / 8 actions = 2.75 EPA

There are other conflict cards (e.g. Crime or Punishment) in which the rewards are fixed and don’t scale with the number of Favours, and then it’s indeed better to use with the minimum number of Favours allowed, since other Favours are wasted.

I’m working on accumulating the favours for the same info on Sabotaging the cannon on the docks/urchins card. If somebody else already has, then let me know and I’ll update the wiki and put those favours towards renown instead.

It means that this card doesn’t seem like a great way of turning in Urchins Favours, and we need the numbers for the other conflict cards.

An update to the Ocular Toadbeast card, in spoilers because it’s fate-locked:

A failure on “The Tongues” no longer affects Urchin stats at all, but increases Suspicion instead.

Oh dear … you are right. I think I forgot to factor in the Identity Uncovered or something. I doesn’t actually matter if you paid for the Favours or not, the 6th and 7th Favour are more valuable than the first five. The overall EPA-ratio is still higher if you didn’t pay anything, obviously.

Thanks for pointing that out!
