Agreed. More power to others if they get something out of this week’s Rat Market, but personally I’ll be sitting this one out.
And for no reason, Fourth City Echoes get nerfed again. 200 to 160.
I already have a Ratwork Watch, and Waswood refused to spit out a Mirrorcatch Box for me…
Therefore, Irrigo Goggles (2000) and Fecund Amber Tiara (2800) for me this week, so 4800 Rat-shillings. I have 30+ Fourth City Echoes. Thank you L.B Industries.
By the way, when does autumn end? I need to get the Venge-Rat Waders soon, preferably when Captivating Ballads can again be used to trade for it.
And for no reason, Fourth City Echoes get nerfed again. 200 to 160.
Well not no reason; the Rat Market was ridiculously lucrative and now it’s still reasonably lucrative. Before we could get 5+ EPA with negligible effort, and we can still get about 4.3 last I checked.
By the way, when does autumn end? BTW irrigo goggles were buffed, now it’s one of (many) BiS Watchful hats.
I’m a little confused by items like the goggles and tiara. As I already have stat-equivalent articles, are the only reasons to buy them (1) the hope that somewhere, someday, they’ll allow access to some as-yet unknown option on a card or storylet; and (2) “Shiiiiiiny!”?
It’s always nice to hoard equipment, especially of some of them are hard or expensive to get.
Consumables, on the other hand, might be needed to unlock other stuff. For example, a few weeks ago Coruscating Souls were available at the Rat Market, getting one was annoying as you had to spend plenty of actions on some gambling game (Fidgeting Writer). And before that, Eyeless Skulls were at the Rat Market, five of them converted to a Ray-Drenched Cinder, which was needed for the Cave of the Nadir.
It is for two categories of players:
- Early/midgame player, who don’t have BiS item yet
- Collectors, who hoard at least 1 of everything
Unless they removed the possibility of obtaining Irrigo Goggles in Nadir, I’d strongly recommend getting them there, as you pay over 150E more for them here. Can anyone confirm if they’re still obtainable from Nadir the old way?
Pity they nerfed Incunabula as well. With all the new content coming in, the Hellworm grind priority keeps getting pushed back more and more, and this doesn’t help either…
Maybe I should join the Hellworm grind, since all the new content has distracted me and pushed whatever plans I had right out of my head. I no longer have even the faintest idea of what I’m up to. :)
Could it be that all this nerfing isn’t random, but part of a system?
As a new item for rat-season/moon/?? shows up, it’s most expensive. Next week it goes down. Fourth-city echoes don’t have a rotation, so might not fit this theory, but didn’t they go down every 2 weeks? I’m not sure, haven’t kept track.
I was just in the Nadir earlier today and got the card with the option to get the Irrigo Goggles, and I didn’t see any obstacle to actually taking that option (outside of lacking the goggles required for the exchange). So I’m fairly certain that way of getting Irrigo Goggles is still very much available.

They are tuning the system.
BTW Fourth City Echoes might become less valuable next weekend, but cost no action to turn in.
So Incunabulae are still worth 20 echoes for sale here, and Night Whispers are 85.
Without the lab changes, this would have made the Attar experiment one of the best grinds in the game. With tuning, it still might be…
Everyone focusing on Hallowmas and ignoring this for this weekend? :)
Fourth City Echo further nerfed to 125 Rat shillings, each Storm Threnody exchangeable for 200 Rat shillings. Night Whispers are 850 Rat shillings each like last week.
New items this week:
Ratwork Pocket Piece - 3200 Rat shillings
Hushed Spidersilk Slippers - 3000 Rat shillings
Smock of Four Thousand Three Hundred and Eight Pockets - 2800 Rat shillings (I got it from the Rat Market previously, thanks to it I am POSI tier 2 now)
I think the Ratwork Pocket Piece is unremarkable and will undoubtedly reappear in future. The other rat gun is the Ratwork Derringer, which is always available at the Rat Market for 4000 Rat shillings or 400 echoes from Carrow’s Steel. More expensive but inferior stats.
Fourth city value got nerfed again, but it no longer takes an action! And can be sold from the Shop tab.
So sad that Uncanny Incunabula cannot be exchanged for Rat shillings this weekend. I get them as weekly reward for the Silver profession.
I guess you can always upconvert Shrieks to Storm Threnodies, but that requires several actions.
And you need one Urchin favour for the final conversion: 25 Aeolian Screams = 5 Storm Threnodies.
Can I ask if the ‘Forgotten Slippers’ at the Rat Market are exactly the same as the ‘Forgotten Spidersilk Slippers’ available from the Nadir? My main has to have one of everything, but obviously doesn’t need two. Or four, in the case of slippers. Cheers!

Well, the Storm Threnody price changes the calculation for the Goat card - It’s now worth around 3 EPA, which is a lot better than 2, but still not great.
I believe the slippers from the market is the Hushed pair.
The Forgotten pair is the upgraded version at the Nadir, using the Hushed pair as a base ingredient.
