Great excitation!
The first Ratty Eclipse in the history of Fallen London will happen next weekend, starting on Friday 24th!
What does this mean? We don’t know, but I can’t wait to find out!

I was checking the Wiki page and wondered why there’s nothing for Currently buying. I am glad to see this is the reason!
You may not want to visit the Market this weekend! But I think it’s best to make sure that you don’t!
What exactly I should not sell?
Certainly not the tempestuous tale. It will not have a different result from other transactions.
Since I’ll probably pop in the Ratket for the first time since the change, what’s good to buy there again?
Nothing and nothing and, as Anthony mentioned, certainly not a tempestuous tale (you need Firm. Ch. 1 to get one)!
I did say buy, not sell. Although I do appreciate the answer. Or do I let the rat shillings expire?
If you have all the items, Beg for the Broken Triplet’s wisdom and with your rat coins make sure you have at least 10k inklings for Feast and would spit between the 5 items which are worth 1 coin (Inkling of Identity, Maniac’s Prayer, Amanita Sherry, Map Scrap, Phosphorescent Scarab) because you get full echo value (no markup).
Repeat whenever you can for max 9k rat coins to make the most of it while touching the depletion just a little.
Thanks a lot! Much appreciated!
Is there really no way to get a Tempestuous Tale outside of Firmament? I’ve held off going to the roof because I’m waiting for the whole story to be finished. I’d rather get it all done in one go than waiting for the chapters to trickle in.
You could get Starved Expressions milking your Hellworm and analyze them in the Lab. But more convenient would be playing the opening of Firmament and just fly back and forth between London and Hallows Throat until the airs align to give you an event that offers a Tale. You don’t really have to interact with the story of Firmament, just unlock flying.
EDIT: I just checked with an old character that hasn’t been to the roof. On your first visit to Hallows Throat you can just go Exploring Hallows Throat and Go looking for a diplomatic posting as long as you have an Amber Ambassador’s Seal. No need to grind airs going back and forth.
Roof drips too and you gain those during the prologue of Firmament; use those in the lab experiment if worm is not available.
Thank you both! I had already played the prologue enough to get my airship. I just don’t want to go to the roof yet. Didn’t realize that there was a lab experiment for the roof drips you get at the beginning of the prologue though. Got through that pretty quickly and received 5 tales.
Wish I had a hellworm. I got real tired of trying to grind out script, especially after the changes that were made to the rat market.
Cash in echoes, brass skulls, Balmoral for 7neck, few more things to make it easier and there: echo - scrip convertion! The first few times is hard until you become accustomed with the flow. Afterwards is just a matter of stashing materials for bird week.
Appreciate the advice, but I hate the bone market like the plague. To me its one of the most soulless grinds.
Edit: fixing typo
As many/all, I felt the same about bone market, but it isn’t that bad. Now that the Feast is close, you can try this “grind” and see how it suits you:
This is the most basic and most profitable grind as you convert 20e of materials into 100e worth of anything the market has to offer; scrip in this case. Each custom skull has 2 exhaust so that’s where the limit is from.
1st step in expanding this is:
This skeletons is slightly more profitable than headless, requires less AP and may yield a nice bonus if bird week hits when you have many skulls already attached.
If you like it, you can take it further using mp’s guide. But the spiders got nerfed so ignore those; they are complex too.
Good luck!
mp’s guide
How out of date is that? I see it still expects fabulous diamonds from the rat market, which predates at least one significant nerf. Do we know how good the described procedure is compared to other methods we have now?
These are enough to keep me busy and have something to do to waste extra APs.
I cleaned up my Bone storage during the last Anthropology week and putting a sabretooth skull, two pincers, two jurassic legs and a stinger on a thorned ribcage is great for selling to the author of gothic tales. Grinding for that is not great though, given that pincers cannot be obtained efficiently.
EDIT: that was not Anthropology week, because that’s not a monkey skeleton. It’s the new dinosaur configuration.
