Sounders crossed off, 33 new diamonds, not bad not bad. That saddle is getting so close I can smell leather.
Hehe, think I will be in the same bucket after I cash in all NWs. The only “remaining” issue for me is to decide what to do with the future city.
After that, we’ll terrorize the Hinterlands!
EDIT: 90 more diamonds picked up! With these, the total number of diamonds that visited my hands rose to 355. Shiiiiiinnyyyyyy!
… the fates have been aligning rare circumstances and for a few precious hours it is possible to acquire Tears of the Bazaar from our Ratty Neathizens.
This weekend, Edicts of the First City can be purchased from the Rat Market. I don’t think I’ve seen this before, I check the Rat Market’s offerings every week.
I found out I already have two Edicts, and have no idea where they came from.
Lab or Cabinet Noir, possibly.
Rats are a Hellworm buyer’s best friends.
Is this the second or third time they show up (almost) twice in a row?
Oooh, wow! I didn’t even expect it to happen and it’s Crackling Device week too!
With 26 Balls of Stygian Ivory you can buy a Device in the Khan, sell it for 850 rat coins and get Diamonds! Every ~95.6 Ivories gets you 625 Scrip instead of ~478.
EDIT: Also, exchange your piracy plunder to Salt Steppe Atlases to exchange them for Khan coin and follow the above flow. And, as another bonus, Airags can be used too!
Wouldn’t it be better to straight-up exchange the plunder for Diamonds? Or is the mark up better if you go plunder->Atlases->Coins->Devices->Diamonds?
This converts the atlases to 85e from 62.5e with only the risk of The Snares and few more AP.
I never though of this before and I already cashed 2 or 3 diamonds. I have about 1k worth of plunder which is nice, but, most import, I hope I won’t forget to just pile it up unless I urgently need something.
Without the Rat Market, it would probably have taken me a much longer time to become a POSI, enter the Cave of the Nadir etc.
Oh, and the Rat’s Bazaar sells useful items.
Right, then I’ll follow your example then!
I never meant that the Rat Market wasn’t profitable, just that in this very particular case (cashing in Plunder for Diamonds one way or the other), it may have not been the most profitable way. May have not. As skinnyman said, it is the most profitable way. =D
For those reading this in the future, that applies only if you’re willing to wait for a week when Crackling Devices and Fabulous Diamonds line up. That’s happening this week, but it happens rarely. You might be waiting years if you’re unlucky.
I have 1200+ Ivory and 38 000+ treasure. Is it good idea to make a trip to khanate and corsair’s forest? Ah, and 100+ Airags
At this point I’d starting running some numbers whether you have enough actions in the weekend to convert your stockpile.
160 Devices obtained. I have to admit, 100% checks in Snares are oddly satisfying. And Troubled Waters hat elsewhere is not bad too.
Someone has a nice destiny! Because I will want to keep my Watchful high, I’m still thinking if I should pick Zee or KaTo. But Zee sounds way more fun!
Tears of the Bazaar are back on the menu, which is exciting news if you’re interested in preparing for a Noman Tattoo or a Memory of a Doubled Spring this coming year. Even if you’re well-stocked, it’s always good to have some extra in reserve in case of poor luck. (I’m angling for 125 Pails / 77 Tears this year)
How much do I need for Doubled Spring? Is it 120-140 vials?
It’s a tricky question because the melt formula’s changed slightly this year, and we never actually had the melt formula; we just had a range that worked well enough for January and February that it didn’t need adjusting. We only have one data point for Whitsun: 2243 NF was lost across 17 melts between January 13th through May 5th.
2531 total NF was enough for me, but it’s impossible to say at this point how close that is. Ultimately, this coming season is still going to be pioneering work; you can take my 2500 figure and decide how much more of a safety buffer you want to put in there (or how much closer you want to cut it).
If you want to be safe, I’d recommend the following:
- 100 Nightwhispers, 700 Storm Threnodies, 120 Tears
- Buy 100 pails from the urchins (note: you may have to grind favourable circumstances to force them to show up this many times!)
- examine a pail through a monocle, warm up your tears until you get taste of lacre 10 or 11, then give this to your Noman. Repeat this step 100 times (you’ll have to draw the Noman Card 100 times before your pails melt. The Card is abundant, but this is quite a lot of Card drawing).
- A pail gets you 9 Noman’s Friend on average, and a Tear gets you 18 on average, so the above brings you to 2800 NF on average (including the base 100).
- you have 20 Tears in reserve, that each give 1-25 NF (or 13 on average). You expect it to be worth 260 NF on average.
This is probably more than you need; it also might not be sufficient if you’re unlucky! Ultimately, this is going to be an expensive gamble and overpreparedness is much advised. Remember that Tears can be poured onto the Noman directly any time of the year, albeit with reduced effect on average, so grinding out some extra Tears to add to the emergency reserve could prevent heartache; moreover, once your Noman is built you have all of February, March, and April to accrue a few extra Tears for that reserve.
