The 'good evening' thread: introduce yourself here

Greetings, salutations and other stuffs…

Andy here, otherwise known (and answering to) Rand0m. Despite frequent attempts to give up the crack cocaine that is EBZ I’m still here. Most often found up near the level cap wondering why strong-backed labour is so expensive.

Outside of the game, I teach and I code and I stare out of the window a lot. Play quite a lot of games, too - once upon a time myself and Beloved Other Half won one called Perplex City.

Hello. Long time player of Echo Bazaar, but first time playing in a looong time. Me and a load of friends played about two years ago now, although when changes such as the change to the way stats go up were implemented a lot of us began to lose interest.

The only notable thing I have really done is that I was the one who created the petition to make it so that under the new rules Straightforward still gave you one point of advancement, rather than none.

In game I tend to roleplay my character, Lord William “Hattie” Masters, who’s incharacter twitter is in my signature. I enjoy roleplaying a lot, so much so that I was somewhat miffed when the Knife and Candle RPG was cancelled, and me and my friends, when we all played, came up with backstories and even had an intricate chart detailing how we all knew eachother. So, naturally, when I discovered that Failbetter had FINALLY created some forums, I was delighted to discover a roleplaying section, as barebones as it is.

Feel free to add me on the Character Twitter, but I’m not much of a Clique joiner, for in character reasons.

Salutations one and all!

The name is Mr. Razgriz, a former soldier and gentleman of some repute back up on the Surface.
I came here on some important personal business when I was caught in a spot of unpleasantness that involved two unnamed gentlefolk, a rather odiferous mandrake and (I kid you not) a tap-dancing beetle.

Well, the constables woke up not long after that and in their enthusiasm, arrested the whole lot of us - innocent or not. I soon found myself in that absolutely charming place known as New Newgate Prison.

Well, that simply would not do! As an innocent and thoroughly maligned gentleman, I proceeded to show myself out of the place. Apologies to the honorable constables for the holes. I sincerely hope that repairs are not too expensive.

Alas, my business in the Neath is not nearly quite done - I foresee a long stay in this strange and mysterious place. For now, it seems my experience in the army will be quite valuable to keep myself warm and fed. Some poor fellows may have also experienced my expertise in the martial disciplines employed in their defense.

A brief farewell then, delicious acquiantances. May our next meeting be over a spot of tea…and not at the business end of a pistol! Ha ha!

Greetings, gentlebeings!

Hannah McKay here; In-game, a self-destructive hedonist with delusions of grandeur and a hunger for things man was not meant to know (and as of tonight a Seeker of the Name). Out of game, hopefully less so; a LARPer and tabletop roleplayer with a taste for classical myth and too many books for my living space.

Evening, I am Dorian Sharpe. I have been playing for a year now and am thoroughly hooked.

Hello all.

I am Miss Magpie, sometime dweller of London Below, sometime US grad student.

Hello, I am the constant companion of Genoveva and the shipowner of Lansemann’s Flotte Schaluppe.

I’m dying to experience where the dreams will lead me to, and I love to compete in the Tournament of Lilies.
Visit me under http://echobazaar.failbettergames.com/Profile/Lansemann.

Greetings, everyone. Dickinson here. Dilettante, knowledge-seeker, laudanum addict.

Hello! I’m Kaesa. OOC I am a writer, roleplayer, occasional artist and general creative geek.

IC, I, well, I signed up not realizing it was the kind of game where you create/curate a character with your decisions, and thus my main “character” in Echo Bazaar is basically me, only a lot more interesting and significantly less ethical. She’s internally consistent, at least. Perhaps I’ll rename her something more interesting. I can be found on Twitter at kaesaaurelia, and haven’t really done a lot with the social actions but am totally up for sending/being sent cats and getting second chances. Anyway, the character I’m playing as “me” right now is largely interested in adventure, secrets, and VENGEANCE for the death of my lover. (I am not interested in vengeance IRL.)

Because I’m a completist and love the writing, I’m also starting to make secondary characters who are much less like me, mostly to play all the other Ambition storylines and make choices I wouldn’t, and maybe also to do some roleplaying? I keep seeing people do that! Twitter isn’t my usual medium but it looks like fun.

Anyway, the first of these is Ben Blithesea (blithesea on Twitter), an expy of an RP character of mine who instantly informed me that he would LOVE to gamble his soul for his heart’s desire. He is a hedonist, a poet, a terrible flirt, fond of pretty devilesses, kind to urchins, vaguely anarchic, and extremely, extremely un-Dangerous. I suspect he will end up in the Royal Beth in about a day, and just after having returned from his exile to the Tomb Colonies for… uh… dancing. (My IC explanation for this is because at the time a.) he was wearing those extremely shiny shoes that allow him to see everything, and b.) absolutely nothing else, allowing others to see everything as well. Ben, seriously, put some clothes on. I mean it.)

I have only just today started playing the Vake-hunting, law-abiding Arabel Inchmertyn (inchmertyn on Twitter), and so I’m not sure what she’ll be like yet, but so far she doesn’t seem terribly friendly.

Well good evening everyone! My name is Theodore Robespierre, the Duke of Lawliet. You may adress me as such. Quite a charming city, Fallen London is. So many excellent diversions! I do believe we shall have a pleasant time. Of that we can all be sure. I have a ppenchant for the Orient (I have already made a very close acquaintanceship with that darling widow), and can often be seen at the most select of literary salon. The Masters are good, charming entities, particularly Messieurs Apples and Veils, however I must support the revolutionary cause. After all, the Traitor Empress is a sham. Who would be better fit to rule than…myself? So once again, I greet each and every one of you wholeheartedly. We can all be good friends, if you know how to play the game.

Good evening. I just arrived in Fallen London… Finding it very interesting, but have no screaming clue what I’m actually doing ;) So for now I’m just mucking about (and I think I have an Ambition: Nemesis 9)…

Good evening, delicious friends. I am Zane DeSantis. What’s that? Why, no, of course that isn’t my real name, don’t be ridiculous. However, were you to remove the spaces from it and switch out the capitals for lowercase-font lettering, you would have what you need to find me in the Bazaar or Twitter. I have only just arrived in fallen London, after being referred here for social electronic entertainment from the gentlemen who perform the Extra Credits internet show.

I have a taste for poetry, peppermints, and punching things. I believe any situation can be solved through calm, delicate discourse, and failing that, gratuitous violence. Should any gentleman or lady or indeterminate wish to commune with me, I should be delighted to see such an invitation arrive to me from my personal Twitter account. And that is all you really need to know about me, now, isn’t it? What’s that? Why, no! You may not have any of my peppermints! Fie! Off with you!

Good evening. I’m TaraLyn here, a writer and student (one day a nurse) who has too many books, animals, and boxes of tea.

In-game, I’m Nora Kenward, a detective and scholar who spends the majority of her time around The Forgotten Quarter and the University…as far as most people know. Which is for the best, really. She’s rather obsessively trying to find out the circumstances behind the death of her brother Lucien, but can be swayed to many other causes when she takes time to rest and build up important skills and qualities. She could be a good friend, provided you can hold her interest…or she could wind up murdering you in her quest for knowledge and vengeance. No hard feelings, right?

Good evening, my dears- or rather, good morning! I hope you are all well! I thought it prudent to introduce myself- you do, after all, seem like such a charming group of gentlefolk! My name is Helena, pleasure to make your acquaintance!

I enjoy reading, history, writing, and playing the piano. I own a cactus named Susanna. Have a very lovely day, all of you!

Greetings, most delightful ladies, gentlemen, and those with a more ambiguous nature. My name is Apphea Bright, more often known as Apple. It’s a pleasure to be among your company, and I thank you for welcoming me into your ranks.

I’ve been a citizen of the 'Neath for quite a time now, but my initial, quite unfortunate introduction caused a lapse of income that resulted in the need for constant action in order to continue to exist comfortably. As such, I have simply been far too busy to form particularly deep social roots. Now that my living standards are no longer imperiled, I find myself most desirous of company. I am most welcome to conversation, and look forward to meeting all of you!

(Apphea’s twitter is apple_bright, and I have a tumblr for her.)

OOC, I’m an office worker now, a former reporter at a local newspaper, and really enjoy hand sewing and cross stitching. When not doing one of the above, I’m usually playing a video game–right now, Mass Effect.

Good evening, or morning, or whatever it is in this light forsaken place! I am Forsythia Dwingston and am overly fond of plants and horticulture. I heard of the rarities that grow in the Neath and simply had to come.

Good evening, especially to the lovely ladies of Fallen England.

I find myself quite new here, not that I was in a cell for a short period of time. Whatever the drunks may tell you at Medusa’s Head, I assure you it’s all in jest. Some of the men can’t hold their liquor and think turtles can fly, so their word isn’t anything to go on.

I would like to introduce myself, I am known by many circles of this fine city as “insane”. Thus I have dubbed it into my name, you may call me Insane Mar or just Mar for short. If you are wondering what Mar is short for, I’m afraid I’m not revealing that information as of now. Perhaps another time.

It is a pleasure to meet you all, however I must return to my hunt. If you will excuse me.

Good evening, if evening has any point down here. I am known to some as Zyxx, or Truezyxx on that birdy-chirpy thing, and this name will do as well as any. My extensive travels have brought me to most delicious Fallen London, and the place is so entertaining that I check in quite frequently.
My other interests include literature, both its creation and its consumption, and really any form of Art, even ones in which I myself am not particularly gifted. Ideas, the stranger the better, are my meat and drink.

I strive to be as helpful and friendly as possible, so please do not hesitate to call upon me for any service.

Good evening. I am an “evening and weekend” player with a fondness for gaming, romance and mysteries. EB certainly has all of those. I’d love to have some other folks to whom I can “confess” or send the odd cat other than my daughter and husband.

I guess I’ve been at this a while, since most of my stats are in the 80s, but it seems like a long way until I something (but what?) really happens.

Good Evening everyone, I’m Andrew a profesional educator and inveterate knave ;-) I’m been a citizen of Fallen London for well over a year now, but have just made my way back to the city after an extended absence.
