My proper name, for now, is irrelevant. You may simply refer to me as the Devilish Engineer. I chose this name in part for my (usually positive) mischievous nature and for my chosen profession when I dwelt on the Surface. I arrived in Fallen London some weeks or months ago (I possess an illness that disrupts my sense of time) and have become very fond of the city. Although I have studied the correspondence, crept into the very vaults of the Bazaar, gained entry into the secret organizations and have been introduced to high society in the Shuttered Palace, there is one thing I have yet to achieve; to become a person of great importance. Though I am close, the title eludes me.
Throughout my adventures in Fallen London, I have been alone. Despite several messages and letters, I have been unable to entice my former friends on the surface to join me here in London. Having heard of the salon some time before, I decided finally to come here in attempt to find acquaintance and correspondence.
I have many interests, from music to film to science and engineering. I enjoy games of all sorts, virtual and non-virtual and I enjoy the company and communication of delicious sorts of people. Lately, I have had a passion for studying ancient history, photovoltaic concepts and theory, physics and computer engineering. Currently, when I visit the surface, I am working on designing and constructing my own solar panels and corresponding battery storage. At the University, I am close to completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, an Associates in Psychology and a minor in Business. Above all, my two greatest passions are learning and interacting with exceptional people.
I have come here in the hopes of meeting people, even if such acquaintances only collaborate with me in the Fifth City of the Bazaar. In terms of Fallen London, I am very soon to be a Person of Some Importance and have become modestly wealthy, thus I may make a useful contact despite the fact I cannot be a Patron to anyone. Of course, conversely, I would be willing to become the protege’ of an exceptional individual. In terms of surface business, I am always happy to make a new delicious friend.
I have spent many a year on the Unterzee. I have seen rats enslave cavies. I have watched the rituals of the Chapel of Lights, and those at the Kingeater’s Castle. I have even been to the Surface, all the way to Vienna.
I survived as a lowly zailor by making sure I was the one rounding up "volunteers" to remain (or leave remains) at various ports, and by being quick with a blade when the tentacles came a-questin’. But finally, my batty old Captain decided to sail past the Horizon in search of… something… at that I decided it was time to leave the ships and settle down in Fallen London.
Things must be quieter on the hazy streets. Or so I thought.
Now I find myself writing poetry, expounding on the joys of honey, exploring lovely lasses… and back fighting on the Docks again… it seems the Zee continues to whisper to me.
I feel sure that I had a name once, a long time ago. But my time at Zee earned me the title of John the Savage. I have dropped the "the" for the finer folks of London, and now go by John Savage.
Pleased to make your acquaintances. That rostygold appears a tad heavy. Shall I carry it for you?
Good evening! I’m Vivi. I’m pretty shy, which makes posting anything here kind of a challenge. I’ve been playing FL for… various months, and I don’t plan to stop any time soon.
I like videogames, coffee, RP, and I think that’s it!
Good evening all! Very please to meet you. Call me Charlotte. Like a fair few, I imagine, I arrived here via Sunless Sea- so technically I’ve been playing since February. But the d–mable surface being what it is I only really got drawn in properly this Hallowmas past. Seeking to confess my many terrible sins I found my way here.
I like- Stories, history, vidya-geams, RP, Lore, all the sweet nourishing lore! Flailing around with swords (Fencing, Kendo, getting into HEMA), dabble in painting little tin-men, cat-herding, Parabola.
Well that’s me. Always glad to make new delicious friends. edited by Charlotte_de_Witte on 11/23/2015
Good evening. I’ve been playing for a few months. Pleasant months. If anyone is doing some delicious RPing for inexperienced players, then please inform me.
Good (in an assumed subjective sense) day (or the eternal twilight of the underzea), on the surface I am Maxwell, a young and aspiring individual most interested in particle physics, and dabbling in lesser subjects. Due to nefarious villains I have had to loose all property and start again from New Newgate prison
When I enter the deep I become Marius Finch, watchful and shadowy individual, continuing to unravel the secrets of Fallen London.
Good Day to you all. I am Viti Rose - Infernal Informant. How I love that name it just packs a punch to it doesn’t it? My sins however landed me in Newgate but that didn’t last long. I hope be of help to those with the same desires and hell-fire to those in my way.
A glad tiding upon the citizens of the Neath, I have just arrived in Fallen London for the past few days, yet I have established myself as a devious and perceptive individual. As you can see, I went by an alias and I have no inclination to discuss my other alias(es).
I hope to explore and find fascinating things in Fallen London, and I am very interested upon the Lore and wonderful, if not mysterious personages in Fallen London.
Gossips and speculations are welcome, killing and other sorts of criminal activities are not beneath me, and I’d like to explore things. Just as a forewarning, if you do something harmful to me, I’d expect you to help me undo the damage in one way or another.
Good evening all. Funnily enough, I have not just entered the Neath. I actually spent my early days in the Neath sailing around the Unterzee in search of secrets and pushing the horizon as Good Captain Nameless. However, apparently pushing the horizon of the Admiral’s bedroom window in search of secrets was a step too far, and Nameless ended up in New Newgate. An escape and a name-change later, and Kyron The Wise has arrived in Fallen London, eager to push the horizons and learn secrets once more. A few months of…let’s call it meandering about, and Kyron has a Zubmarine, a Clay Sedan, and a Room at the Royal Bethlehem, and an odd dream about a Road.
(Translation: A friend got me hooked on Sunless Sea, which inevitably led to my discovery of Fallen London. After performing the customary lurking and loitering, the latter of which may or may not have been Suspicious, I decided to pop onto the forums.)
Bonjour, delicious ones, from La Melusine. I have been haunting these lands for more days than I care to count. It is my dearest pleasure to make your acquaintances. I hope you have not heard of me, but should my hope be in vain, you ought to disregard whatever you’ve heard. I am anxious for new friends, so I entreat you to call on me any day you wish, excepting the Holy Day, which I reserve for my own use. The little inconveniences of a Enduring a Condition, tu comprends? Bonsoir, mes amis… and ignore any plaintive sounds you might hear during your visit.
Salutations, my darlings. There’s a tale that’s told to frighten wayward high-society debutantes into good marriages - that of the promising young woman whose heart (and future) was stolen away by a charming thief. What they don’t mention is that after a while she’d learnt more than enough to steal it back, actually turned something of a profit and used the fortune to pay her way back into civilised society.
I do well at keeping myself occupied chasing the secrets of the Neath, but I am at heart a social creature and all the extended silence of being inclined to lurk softly in shadows to satisfy a curiosity can get rather dull. I’m fond of wine, good food and charming conversation - do send a calling card round (one must still observe social niceties after all) and I’ll be happy to supply at least two of the three.
Good evening, fellow flesh-beings and sundry. Good evening!
I believe myself to be Madeleine Meadow, madwoman. It is written here on the back of my hand, you see. But I do not believe that to be my hand, the writing, the writing is in someone else’s hand even as it is upon mine. Ah, well.
Yes. Do call. Call at any time, for any purpose. Yes. I am in possession of considerable resources. Somehow. I must have been Neathy for a long time. Do call. Yes. edited by Madeleine Meadow on 12/6/2015
I am surreyjack, I’ve been lurking on these forums for quite a while and have been playing Fallen London since last Spring. I have decided to join after consorting with one of the older members, Ocelot, over a certain enigma.
I welcome any sort of social action and would love to make some Christmas contacts!
Hullo! Zandak is the moniker. New to all this but finding it a lark- albeit a brooding, half-crazed lark whose song strikes terror. Send me useful and pleasant things and I shall send others back to you.
Good evening, fine people of the forums. I prefer to be referred to as Dougl07 or Souglas, mostly because I dislike my actual name, and those are my favorite nickname so far (one being a spoonerism, the other being a random name I made up that I could recognize as being me). I joined Fallen London back in May, but I was playing Sunless Sea pretty much since when it first came out. I’m kinda quiet, well spoken, and not really good in social situations. I like tea, ice cream, small places devoid of other people and the sound of rain on tiles. I dislike coffee, foot cramps, hot places, and excessive alliteration. If you want to talk further, send me a calling card or letter. I might not reply for a while, as I have mountains of studying for exams, but I shall endeavour to respond in good time. Ciao, vale, auf Wiedersehen and good evening, delicious friends.
It has been some months since I arrived, but now I feel is the appropriate time for me to introduce myself. Friends, acquaintances, and those I have yet to properly endear myself to may know me by the moniker of Altsen. I must say, this London has captured my curiosity.
Frankly, the opportunities waiting to be made in this city make my blood quite simmering! So much interesting encounters to be had! If I had to say what would be the most exciting, it would indeed be testing my skills and wits in combat amongst members of the Black Ribbon. Feducci was most challenging to win against, while the duel with Vendrick gives me the slightest thoughts of regret, seeing how his story had to end that way.
After a beginning of picking pockets from various denizens of Spite, I pursued a profession as a Campaigner for the Church. In all honesty, that was a mistake on my part. Frankly, it was quite boring! The feckless rabble of ‘supporters’ didn’t help much. Eventually, I would later resign that calling for a more- how would one say- ‘active’ one. As an Enforcer for the Revolutionaries, my usual day never goes by dully.
Recently, I was introduced to further machinations of the Great Game, with directions towards Wilmot’s End. Certainly something to do later on.
Currently, I began my studies towards the Correspondence while spending my days inside the University. The path to becoming a Person of Some Importance is certainly open to me. But right now, I prefer to finish up all of my loose ends and round out my full potential before setting myself on that path. edited by Altsen on 12/16/2015
I have been in the Neath for close to a year now, and I have finally deemed it prudent to introduce myself to the public (what few remain who haven’t heard of me). Following a brief stint seeking to serve the authorities in London, I soon came to realise that authority is not what it seems in the dark. My eyes adjusted, if you will, and in the dark I have learned a great many secrets. Wolfstack gave me my opportunity to turn my back on the Masters and now I plot their demise.
Good evening all. I’m a quiet Monster Hunter who has mostly kept to himself and his LBs, but I figured its about time I get social up in here, so Yoello.
I am a person behind a screen, delivering to you these letters via the magic of the wireless internet connection! In the greater external world I do not go by Hotshot Blackburn, but you can refer me to that here if you need be.
Honestly, not much notable going on here. Joined a few months ago at a friend’s encouragement, but I’ve always been interested in this kind of fictional setting (where there’s Weird Stuff going down, but its heavily downplayed and treated more as a highly fanciful ‘daily life’ kind of thing. Not quite urban fantasy, not magic realism, somewhere…in between?), as well as alternate histories and weird histories and so forth. Not the Victorian England period oddly enough because of my semi-negative experiences with Dickensian London from a young age, but eh. Whatchagonnado.
When not here, I’m mainly studying for classes at the university, working, sleeping, writing, going to gatherings with friends, or hanging with family. Ultimately fairly mundane stuff really, at least for my position I guess. Not complaining though because too much energy and excitement is just…stressful. It’s good to detox a while from the occasional jolt.
Having fallen in love with Welcome to Nightvale, the free podcast of a small, friendly desert town radio station (do not look at the Hooded Figures or approach the dog park. DO NOT APPROACH THE DOG PARK), I was encouraged to look at Fallen London and I’m so very glad I have. I have been playing for three days now and I don’t believe I have ever enjoyed a text based game a tenth as much. I have no idea what’s going on, I am stumbling around blindly and I am having so much fun! Between the eldritch abominations reminiscent of H.P. Lovecraft works and writing that reminds me of my favourite Consulting Detective, this place is wonderful.
Generally I stay out of game forums and can be somewhat terrible at social interactions however after receiving a Maverick Bloodhound and being unsure if it was going to try to kill me or not I posted on the Young Turks thread and immediately got a flood of information, advice and reassurance. Lovely people have already sent me gifts and I helped someone with their nightmares. Unlike in so many games, the social angle does not feel forced to me.
I am very pleased to be here and to have the opportunity to introduce myself to you all,
