Delighted to meet you, each and every one. I am Sublight Monster, though very friendly as monsters go. I’ve only just arrived in Fallen London after hearing tales of the Sunless Sea, and am now embarking on my exploration of the city.
I do so love company, and my door is always open to friendly callers. And if you happen to be an unfriendly caller… well, by all means, step into the monster’s den and try your luck.
Dearest citizens, colleagues, conspirators, convicts, churls, calligraphers, couples, and chandlers, I am one Mr. J. Avalon. I am a player of games of all sizes, and indeed one might call it a weakness if I were given to more hazardous wagers, or to a lesser form of luck. As one might surmise from this tendency, I greatly value information of all kinds, though I value my darling wife-to-be and my own good health still more.
As it happens, I have in fact been a resident of London for some years, but I have kept something of a low profile, and recently returned from a lengthy voyage to the Surface. (I do feel obliged to advise any others who may be considering such a venture to prepare to shade themselves. One of my dear friends took a bit too much sunlight during the expedition and, though lucky enough to survive, has not been nearly the same since his return. Indeed I fear he may have fallen in with the Northbound.)
Though I possess a number of… dissolute appetites, I assure you that they are of no concern to any who merely do business with me, and I assure you that my reputation for honesty and candor is no less, or less accurate. Those who do business with me shall not find themselves wanting.

I have been a citizen of Fallen London since the release of certain information concerning a certain Sunless Sea, and as such have become enveloped in a great deal of the cities’ intrigue.
