Very interesting artwork.
A bit off topic though
To bring things back around to unusual animals that really do exist I submit this particular specimen of nightmare material.

I guess this would be off topic as well, considering that it’s surely just an ordinary cat .
No pictures, but I just found out that some scientists somewhere decided it would be a good idea to create transgenic goats that produce spider silk in their milk.
A quote from an article: "But why goats and not spiders themselves? The simple answer is that spiders are territorial, cannibalistic and can’t be farmed. Goats, on the other hand, are docile."
And from Wikipedia : In 2009, two transgenic goats were sold to the Canada Agriculture Museum after Nexia Biotechnologies went bankrupt.
No word on any resulting Übergoats.

Behold the Rat King! It’s like a spider-council, but with rats. Take notes, Spacemarine9.
A rat king is a collection of rats whose tails are intertwined and bound together by one of several possible mechanisms, such as entangling material like hair or sticky substances like sap or gum or getting tied together. Historically, this phenomenon is particularly associated with Germany.
A similar phenomenon with squirrels has been observed, which has had modern documented examples.
The original German term, Rattenkönig, was calqued into English as rat king, and into French as roi des ra...
Edit: It becomes apparent at this point that I have no idea how to work html.

"Bilateral gynandromorphism is a rare genetic disorder occurring in insects, arachnids, crustaceans, and birds, where a strange combination of genetic material splits a creature perfectly in half, with one side male and one side female."

Neither do I! But the forum uses BBCode, not HTML. :) So it’s [img*][*/img] minus the asterisks.
…I tried that, originally. It didn’t work, neither did the half-dozen variations I edited in.

I say there are not enough puffed-up puffer fishes laying around the shores of the underzea. And in addition to their looks, their high toxicity makes them a good fit. (Picture under the spoiler-tag.)
Nomen spotted on the Surface! Well, since they’re probably not made out of lacre, I guess they might be actual snowmen, but still…
BEHOLD.

Trigger warning for people with toad phobia. - BFW
And Trypophobia. Seriously, this probably qualifies as body horror.

Behold. The Surinam Toad. Yes, those are baby frogs coming out of its back. That’s where the eggs go once they’re laid.

Not a problem for me, but you might want to hide that toad behind a spoiler warning. Trypophobia is unpleasant for some people and those toads are a known trigger.
An interesting catch from the Cave of the Nadir. Perhaps they were Dark-Carapaced Crustaceans once? Or have they already forgotten?

I had no idea. I’ve edited in tags in case the OP doesn’t see your comment for a while. Thank you.

Oh. I sincerely apologize. Didn’t know that was a trigger for people. Thanks to BFW for adding the spoiler.
