Small questions thread

Not working for me too. Maybe because i am on linux.

[quote=aegisaglow]I actually came to this thread looking for information on that exact problem, so thank you. I was worried I’d have to wait until another patch to keep playing! I already sent in a bug report about it, so hopefully that’ll help fix it.

edit: That said, it did not actually work for me. I quit, launched it again, hit continue and the map was still telling me there was a port in empty space.

if you have your UI scale changed, its possible for the map to be offset, and not show correctly where you are. this might be the case here

How do you know what faction or affiliation another train has? I’ve destroyed a couple and it told me I’d destroyed a Reach Marauder, but that seems like information I might like to know before I open fire. I thought maybe mousing over would do something but no. Also, the only way to &quotinteract&quot with other trains currently is to blow them up, correct?

right now the only way is to look at them and visually recognise them. The marauder ones are browner and bigger.
Afaik, only tackety and marauder trains are in the game right now. There’s no windward company trains so you can’t really side with the tacketies even if you wanted to.
Which you don’t anyway, of course. Rule Britannia!

Not really a question about the current state of the game but- does anyone know if there will be different starting locations based on background or something? I was rather surprised to find myself starting in the reach and not London proper.

I expect there will be, once character creation and other regions are implemented, which they aren’t yet. I can’t seem to find anything where they specifically discuss it, but that was the impression I had.

any idea where to find a scrive spinster? A quest wants me to kill one

I’ve yet to encounter one but someone said they saw one around the nature preserve

I haven’t seen one, but one person said Gambler’s Grove or maybe around Carillon, and another said the Nature Reserve.

Anybody know how quickly Failbetter are responding to bug reports at the moment. I know it is after office hours now, so don’t expect to hear anything until tomorrow at the earliest.

But it would be nice to know how quickly they are fixing things. I finally started a game where I managed to discover all the ports and start some storylines without dying and then it bugged out on me :(

It varies. It can be a few hours, or (unfortunately) a few weeks.

Thanks dov - I hope it isn’t weeks bearing in mind that this is Skies and I got a game breaking bug. If I don’t hear back from them by tomorrow afternoon I guess I’ll try to start a new game - I didn’t want to do that before they have a chance to look at the bug.

Can anyone tell me where I can get Chorister Bee hair?
Like, can i get it from Titania, or do I need to find an enemy I have yet to encounter.

With the bugged bees we might not be able to get it until the first patch (or beyond) - I’ve sunk a good few hours in and haven’t found a whiff of the stuff. Always happy to be proven wrong though!

Ok I heard back from them and my bug is related to the missing port one.

But for me the wrong port was there (Titania instead of Port Avon). I docked and when I tried to continue the game nothing happened.

If this happens to you do not dock. The advice is to Quit the game and go back to the previous save.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to tell enemy damage in combat? I’ve experimented a little with my weapons but since I’m pretty fragile myself at this stage it would be nice to be able to tell if one more hit will take out my opponent or I need to flee.

the only way i found so far is just to mentally keep track of it.
A closerange shotgun blast will take about half the health off a marauder or tackety.
A cannon shot will take about a quarter

cantankeri have about 25% less health than trains

Is there any Darkdrop Coffee in Sunless Skies?

No coffee - yet.

Thanks! I’ve finally killed a couple things, but I still really hope there’s a health meter of some kind, or even just more obvious damage to the enemy ship that you could learn to identify, in the final version.
