Seeking Mr Eaten's name

Hate to jump on the bandwagon, but I don’t recall this card when I was a seeker and spirifer, can I have the details as well?
Hello, Seekers.

It happens that having a damned Starveling cat and being a trader in souls, while seeking for what must not be sought, opens up to an opportunity card.

I know that it’s fate-locked, but could someone pm me what will happen on failure/success?

I am pretty sure nothing good could come from it, but I am just freezingly scared by how much could it be bad.

I remember that on a previous page, there was some mention of this card. If I recall correctly, it doesn’t do much, but kind of confirms what the Starveling Cat does with your soul.

And that’s the end of my character. He went North, grieving. If anyone wants to PM me the other two endings I’d be much obliged, and I’d be happy to share to mine.

The card in question requires a Starveling Cat, a Spirifer’s Fork, and SMEN 1-5.

Wait, what requirements does the option list for the recipient?

My alt, the Menacing Seeker, ( http://fallenlondon.storynexus.com/Profile/Menacing%20Seeker ) has now gone North with a Noman. There are no options that require a Noman in the North. :(

Long time lurker, first time poster. Just sold about half of 3+ years worth of accumulated stuff, in anticipation of fasting and meditation…[li]

I feel… very strange. Lighter. Maybe light-headed.

On the plus side, I had enough to buy several new Overgoats! I hope they’ll keep each other company while I’m on the isle.

I’m new to the forum but I thought it would be a good place to ask - I just started seeking the name through the opportunity in the 12 Days of Mr Sacks story, but the options I chose on the black-edged cards seem to have lowered my UP to 0, so I can’t draw any more. What can I do to raise it again?

The main way is to get ahold of a starveling cat, then see what it knows in &quotbats and cats&quot in the flit. Other than that, I don’t know if there’s a reliable way.
Starveling cats can be had from cat boxes, but there’s also a thread in the Singing Mandrake section here on the forums where you can post and someone might send you one.
Edit: here’s a pretty comprehensive guide from the wiki. http://fallenlondon.wikia.com/wiki/Seeking_Mr_Eaten’s_Name_(Guide) there’s another one somewhere on the forums too, but I’m not sure where it went.

To save others the pain I just experienced:[li]

There’s a list going around that shows what you need to shed before moving on to Winking Isle. The list is almost, but not quite, complete. If you’re shooting for the optional path, you need to have 0 fecund amber.[/li][li]

Sorry to hear that, naraoia! Fecund amber is on the wiki, and I would definitely recommend people check that because some of the original lists that went around were a bit confusing: http://fallenlondon.wikia.com/wiki/Preparations

well, I’ve put a noman north, and I’ve put one down a well, both bits of seasonal content, I am satatisfied… I am content.

I’d be glad if someone could point me towards it because I’m in the process of writing one myself… the one on the wiki is good, but I know some people are afraid of using the wiki due to possibly seeing spoilers. Of course, no guide will ever be 100% spoiler-free, but I thought it’d be good to have one here with a general outline of what, when and where for complete newbies who just want to know what the heck they’re getting into ;)

Yep, An Individual made one. I eventually found it, no thanks to the forum’s search engine ;)

http://community.failbettergames.com/topic22442-first-steps-on-the-seeking-road.aspx
Thank you! Wow, that’s pretty cool - saves me a lot of work :) I’ll probably add a post there soon with some info about the later stages, and we should make sure it doesn’t disappear again ;)

Thanks so much for this link! Yeah, the latter stages of the search are quite mysterious. To anyone who’s still working on getting to Winking Isle: it is both not as scary as you might think, but much more soul-deadening. Don’t head down this road unless you are very committed to seeing the endgame. If you are sure, well: start building notability now, I think that’s the most important thing. You can get Destin’s without it, but it’s tricky.

No matter how many times I look at preperations, I seem to keep failing the attempt…

is there maybe a better ordered list?

Here’s a full list compiled by spacemarine9 of the things you mustn’t take (and some further optional things if you’re pursuing Salt).

Just as a brief note, the SMEN option on day 9 of sackmas will only work if you have SMEN 27 or lower, and not, say, 28.

Is there any reason to go into the lighthouse if I started seeking after it was reinstated? Seems like a pretty hefty price for a not great reward.[li]

Nice text, and you’re already trying to sacrifice everything so you don’t stand to lose too much.
