Thanks for clarifying/saving me. I honestly don’t know if I’m relieved or not.
I just lost my one UP on the Aces card; eating the chestnuts did reduce it this time. SMEN is 3. So it looks like there is no way to gain SMEN with that card for cheap.

I know that the KNAVE OF REGRET can get you from 3 to 4. It does seem like a lot of the UP cards have caps.
Guys, the Saint Destin option on the Amanuensis card seems to be gone. Wut.
Hm, I wonder if Rats of Glory only explode for seekers. Gloria’s 2 are still intact (for now, at least).

Giggled to myself. Then reminded I had one. Did not explode. A Seeker.
(Editing this post in 3… 2… 1…)
Good news, sending Mr Eaten’s calling card to other players works now! Bad news, sending the card sets your cards to 0. Haha, 3 cards just poofed out of existence as easy as they came into existence in the first place. Farewell, my 4x Mr Eaten’s calling cards. You served me well these many years… and I totally forgot to check if winking isle was back before I passed it on haha, rip.
So is an exploding Rat of Glory a thing a Seeker would want, or a thing a Seeker would not want?
Both, probably. An effective seeker- one who tries their hardest to mitigate the suffering and hurry to free eaten as quickly as possible, or whatever knowledge they’re seeking for instead- would not want it. But an ineffective seeker- say, one who seeks for the suffering, or similar reasons- would want it.

Running theory is the rats exploded as a one-time manually-triggered event, activated for those with Saint Arthur’s Candle.
Wait, you still had some of those? I thought they all got taken away. Mine certainly did.
P.S. I am so glad I do not carry unexploded rodents with me. 'twould be a great shame for the only Fortigan’s candle to go up in smoke.
Yeah, I was the only one whose cards didn’t get eaten- no idea why not (possibly because I was scorched by the sun and couldn’t receive social actions properly but that’s just a guess). But they are basically eaten now from what I mentioned above.
What happened to that one card you sent? Did it make it through to the recipient or did it also poof away?
It’s in safe* hands**
*maybe
*maybe not
** allegedly

What does taking a wild guess do?
So, it’s gonna be some time until we know about this mysterious “Precise Quantity” of Proscribed Material? If anyone manages to get to that level, I’d get 777 books, or 7777 if you’re particular rich. It is the number, after all.
We actually know it already: but more than that, if you landed close, there are options to increase or decrease your numbers by one per action- or to leave, with the knowledge of the proper number, and come back later. (it does cost you the enigmas invested going in, and 7 actions to leave, and you’ll need the enigmas to get in again, but still.)
[Since this seems to be supposed to be a secret, if you must know, PM me.]

the number needed is the verse number of an appropriate passage in the book of Matthew
which verse I will leave unspecified

I think that I remember what the number was on that verse… Then I check it, and I seem to have been wrong. Either way, I know the likely quantity of Proscribed Material.
Hmm… Get the Watchful training profession, and also become a Protegee of someone with a Watchful specialization, who can train you using Free Evenings. Play a lot of chess, and use the Sudden Insights to grind Watchful. Besides that, do Watchful actions with a 90% success rate.
